Research the sewing machines carefully so you'll get the best quality of
machine for the money. By the way .........I loooooooooove scented
candles .........if my hubby didn't have asthma ..........I'd have potpouri
and scented candles all around the house.

Yesterday I got to take my husband with my two girls in tow ..........to
Albuqurque so that my husband could have the laser surgery done on his eyes.
With the exception of my youngest daughter losing it and standing UP in the
car while I was still driving and somehow YET 'remaining' in her seat belt ......
She managed to grab my hair with both of her hands and have big CHUNKS
of my hair left in her hands. Even after I managed to pull over and disengage
my self from her scratching, kicking and attacking me. Even now today the
back of my neck is still sore from where she did the majority of her scratching
and pulling.
Today is better ............I'm basically taking the day OFF with the exception of

Shiningstar,
Congradulations on the achievement of your Ship Of Light icon as you passed the threshold of 10,000 posts.
I just made a really nice purchase for dirt cheap. I went to the local magazine/book store, and found four used (but still very good condition) copies of the Battlestar Galactica novels by Glen A. Larson.
I acquired (for under 5 bucks total) The Cylon Death Machine (which is Gun on Ice Planet Zero), The Young Warriors, Galactica Discovers Earth (alas, adapted from Galactica 1980), and The Living Legend.
I look forward to reading these adaptations.

I am replying whilst having not read the entirety of this particular aspect of the thread, so please forgive my ignorance.

Allergic to beer - I'd go crazy.
((((bsg)))) ((((shiningstar))))
I suffer from seasonal allergies, too. Mostly grass pollen - which makes mowing the yard an adventure at times. A few years ago I mowed a field with a tractor and pull-behind mower - I got hit so bad I had a blister form on my eyeball and my sinuses were literally plugged solid.
So I took an antihistamine and drove my wife around looking for a farmers' market........
Ah, memories.........
My problems were aggravated by physical sinus problems, though - I had surgery last winter and I've had far fewer problems with breathing this allergy season.
Anyway - best of luck to everyone with allergies....
Beer? Sheesh.

oh muffit that is sad. best of luck and well wishes to you and yours.
I heard something on the news last night that ticked me off and upset me. The parents of a 10 month old were arrested on suspicion of child abuse. They hurt their poor innocent daughter and the poor thing has little chance of surviving. The prosecution has stated already that if the little girl does not make it then the charges will be upgraded.
D^&n sad in this world when parents have to abuse an innocent baby.

Today I had to put my youngest daughter on the REGULAR school bus all because the
school transportation department was too LAZY to follow her evaluation from the year
before. Sarah is autistic and not ready for the regular school bus. But after I complained
when I found out what they were planning to do to my youngest child ........they did
a rail road around me and went to my husband who I had to fight TOOTH and NAIL to
ensure that she was able to get the best educational advantages and get her autism
treated inspite of his overwhelming interference.
I begged them not to do this to her as the regular bus driver is not TRAINED to handle
someone like her. There was nothing I could do. In order for the ACLU to step in ....
I have to "TRY" to put her on the regular bus with her older sister and THEN if it
doesn't work .........then they'll THINK about trying something else.
Sarah looked so terrified as she stepped on the bus. She looked like a deer that was
looking into the head lights of a automobile. I wanted to cry but I forced myself to
smile and tell her to sit by her sister who as a FOURTH grader didn't want to sit by
her little sister but instead {undertstandably} wanted to sit by her friends.
Sarah sat down by her sister but as I left the bus I could see the unshed tears and
the fear in her eyes. I wanted to run up and just pull her off of the bus because I
can see from the way she's attacked ME and her Father when ever we have to go
somewhere that she simply isn't ready for this. I begged her father just to let me
drive them to school but all he could talk about was the rising price of GAS .......I
am beginning to wonder if he loves Sarah at all and if he blames ME for being autistic
and making her that way too.
I'm sorry to vent here ......

((((((((((((((((Shiningstar))))))))))))))))) YOU are NOT to blame for your daughter’s autism! There is very little scientific support for it being hereditary; they believe that it is connected to a preservative in the MMR combo vaccine that children get combined with the child’s developmental stage at which the vaccine is given that causes Autism.
Also do you know anyone from your local Autism society who could talk to the school or bus company on your behalf about your daughter?
You could make the point that If she freaks out on the bus she could create a significant disruption that could cause the driver to be sufficiently distracted from driving potentially causing an accident, scare them a little, tell them you warned them and your not responsible when angry parents start to call and complain, it will just mean more headaches for them.
My girlfriends autistic boy gets so freaked out in the car she is often late because she has to pull over and calm him down which as you know is incredibly challenging.
I can't imagine how torn up you must have felt Shiningstar! I gave your husband a couple of thwacks on the thwack thread before reading this story I have to go back now and make a few "adjustments" ;)

Actually ...........My autism and that of my childrens' is heriditary ........my
uncle who never had any vaccinations was also autistic as well as me,
my children and my oldest niece who is in a group home. I wasn't diagnosed
as being autistic until december of 2002 .........by my daughter's clinical
psychologist. But I always knew I was different ......I just never understood
WHY ...until I was diagnosed.
There was a study done not too long ago that shows a common
DNA gene defect in Autistic people. The article was on Msn.com for awhile.
Also I've already warned them about Sarah and told them that they need
to follow her IEP instead of trying to screw her around simply because THEY
are too LAZY to do THEIR JOBS. So in that area .......I and my child are
'relieved' from responsibility (legally if not morally) if any 'incidents' happen
on the bus.:...:
The point is ........that my child should not have been put in this
Position in the first place. :(

Your child having a genetic malfunction is not your fault because you have it. Its something that happened in the chromosomes. If your hubby can't get over it then he needs to grow up and quit blaming you.
What he is doing is pretty similar to what my stepdad did when he found out that my baby sister (his youngest child) had Down Syndrome. He blamed himself for her being that way. It seems to me that your husband cannot accept that his child has a genetic problem and because you have it he is under the misconception its your fault.
Read this and know that you are not alone. My grandmother told my parents this when we were hit with the news about my sis.
Its not your fault. God gives you what he thinks you can handle. He obviously thought that you can handle a special child like your little girl.
This is just advice from someone who knows. The doctors basically said to my parents that my sister would never have a good quality of life. I'd like the picture of my baby sister walking down the aisle at my wedding as a bridesmaid and tell them that they were WRONG!!!!!!!!!

We are here for you, my dear one. Just a piece of advice, that I had to learn the hard way. My son was a preemie and has several challenges and he is on an IEP. I have learned that I have to be very assertive(not me at all) with the school and even the administraters to the point of being in their face and raising $ell. Kind of the squecky wheel gets the grease type of thing. I have had to force them to do their jobs and handel things they are suppossed to be doing....etc... Go to the principal and tell him/her they have to provide a solution for your daughter and that their insensitivity to her plight is frankly distrubing. Don't stop until you get a resolution(I have had to go to the district administrator before-they really hate that) Good Luck-I am here for you.

My feeling about a hubby blaming a wife's genes is this:
If he loves you, he loves you BECAUSE of the things that are special about you, good or bad.
To have his daughter be like you is a gift, not a bad thing.
If he loves you for what you are, he should be enamored with the little girl who emulates you.

I'm doing better NOW then YESTERDAY. Yesterday Max {our newest FURPERSON family member} jumped the fence. I spent an HOUR chasing after him. UP and down the streets, in and out of the streets, in and out of the forest, in and out of the golf course,
and across one of the most busiest streets in town to the GOLF Course Club......Where
a good sameritan caught MAX and distracted him till I could get him. IN all of the chasing
of course I didn't see fit to get a leash as I was afraid to lose him. So I think everyone
KNOWS who got to carry the little MUTT all the way HOME!

oh brother. My hubby wants a Sheltie when we can have one! A sheltie is an excellent breed to have Bsg. Just remember to be
patient and to keep your wits about you if it's under a year old .........and if it's
anything like our Max .........Keep treats handy and your running shoes ON ;)

hubby has had them before. I am going to be a newbie at it. I prefer kitties but if I have to have a dog I want either a Taco Bell dog, daschund, or a cocker spaniel!

On chihahahs and daschunds they tend to have poor temperaments on the cocker Spaniel they have POTTY control problems. A sheltie has a fairly even
temperment and is highly intelligent and therefore more of a 'family' and not
a spoiled dog as are labs ............ONCE you get them settled down :P:

The only dogs I like are hot dogs.
You can put 'em in the microwave.
You can stick 'em in the fridge.
I don't have to pick up their "presents"
They don't get sick and die.
And when I'm done with 'em, I can eat 'em.

I know how you feel! My dog got loose from me and I had to chase him all over town, he thought it was a game...........I was scared to death! He darted in and out of traffic........I was sure He would have gotten killed.
I finally caught him and brought him back home, but I really got my work out that day. :)
