Aw, shucks, I'm just trying to support my lil sis.

Good for you! Go for it, be polite but determined.

If boyfriend is not supportive and realizes that this setback is somebody else's fault, lil sis, and fails to support your efforts to make it right, his priorities are definitely in the wrong place. Big Bros Dawg, BST, and Gemini will be more than happy to set him right.

Heh Heh. *Thump* Heh Heh.

my sister and my niece have tried to ruin the Victorian theme for my wedding by a black dress for my niece. I can understand the lime green cause its not that bright according to my mom. But my niece is into the Goth crap and her dress color does not fit the colors used back then except for when a person was mourning. mom is going to handle this one for me but it irritated me. I gave them a list of colors and they decided to ignore the list just because it wasn't what they wanted!

Great! What's the time frame for graduation look like, compared to the program you were in?I'm not sure I need to look at that...
the problem is that as of jan 1 2003 a new law was passed All nurses require a bachelors degree in order to practice...I was aiming for the Diploma but with the failure this would mean that I would no longer be elligible for the diploma and be forced to do the 4 years. But if they take me so soon it wil definitely cut down on the time factor by many months. :D

actually just spoke to girlfriend she says this school no longer offers the diploma so I would have to complete the degree:/: another two years after SeptemberI'd be 43 when I graduate!!!
another option would be to get my LPN diploma and practice that way and work on getting the degree through long distance education I have to look into that!:)

that minor problem was averted. I got her to agree on wearing a shawl or jacket in another color over the dress to accent the colors! Its mostly organized. Got a few more things to do and its all set but we are mostly done. My older sis is doing the invitations, my mom's friend is in charge of the centerpieces, my mom and I are doing the favors and making my veil. Dad got the hall and the food and dj settled. I booked the church ahead of time. So its just the minor details now.

Could I ask anyone who is so inclined to put in some good thoughts for the following people:

-My uncle, who is dying of cancer at the age of 48, which is the same age my father died of a heart attack.

-My grandmother who lost a husband in 1999 and a son in 2000 and is about to lose another son.

-My aunt who had a bowel obstruction and a crappy doctor who almost killed her.

-My friend's son who was in a serious car accident and sustained numerous injuries including a brain stem injury, a broken neck and severe burns (the car caught on fire) and is currently in a coma.

-My sister, who is pregnant with her first child and has had to have TWO teeth removed in the last week (I know pregnant women are more prone to dental problems, because baby takes all their vitamins away, but this is ridiculous, she's only 27!)

I'm sorry, I'm just having a lousy day. Sometimes it all weighs down on me and I appreciate having this forum so I can talk about it a bit.

Cor, and I thought I was having a bad day.
My boss says I am not allowed to work (suspended) until a panel meeting at the end of the month and the consultant has told us that my daughters hip is shagged, and she needs a hip replacement. She is only 10 years old. She has been through worse, and has to have chemo once a week, which she finds very painful on top of everything else (which I hate having to inject, along with other drugs).

I do not doubt that!
3 Years ago (to this week) my daughter fell seriously (critically) ill, the hospital did not know if she would pull through, after months in Oxford Hospital, she survived. Where I found the strength, I do not know, but I did. It was hard, especially when she was asking me if she was dying, and at that point the doctors told me that they dont know if she will live. I told her that she was not dying and that she would get better. I hate to lie, and thank god it turned out I did not! She is still very ill, and some days are very hard, others are good. Our lives have changed, we look at things differently and live day to day as its hard to plan ahead. The only thing that has not is our sense of humour, it kept me going more than any thing else. The foster children are great with her, and they learn valuable lessions off each other. My life is never quiet or simple. I have always said that you either sink or swim. I am a swimmer and I am sure that I am not the only one.
Uno, I hope that your family can come through all this, and if they can not, please retain humour, because it helps light up those dark days. :)

Hi all! Good news for me (well, kinda). FINALLY got my old antique computer running so I can port my old games to the PC emulators. Yikes, what a pain! I couldn't tell what was wrong cuz the diagnostics disk was bad, and in order to get a new one, I would have to get it online on the PC and xfer it -- which of course I couldn't do cuz --- it's broken!! Chicken and egg, it's always chicken and egg.

Tried to find a schematic, eeks, not ONE on the entire internet!!! So much for freedom of info.

Not to worry, I just searched the net till I could find an old 6502 assembler, and then wrote a nullmodem xfer utility for both the PC and ancient Apple. That worked, so then I could run the diag disk. Found a bad memory IC. Now for the FUN part -- trying to FIND an ancient memory chip!!! I thought it would be a piece of cake -- boy was I wrrong! Anyway, it finally came in the mail today and I installed it. Huzzah! Diag checks out 100%!

Congrats, Muffit, but I must say that you obviously really love those games! Anything I would have heard of? I used to love playing those old DOS games (I was fanatically addicted to Lemmings at one point, among others.)

Muffit
April 9th, 2004, 09:56 AM
Hi UWW! I have worked with many people on gobs of games, probably quite a few that you've heard of. But since I can't share those, I'm working on porting all the ones that never got released. I'm almost done, just one platform left.

My daughter LOVED Lemmings. I was so amazed that she was only 3 and could pass so many levels! They also released a 3D version, but we had problems configuring it.

It is my firm belief, that a new law should be passed putting obsolete hardware and software completely in the public domain. There is NO reason to adamantly pursue copyright infringement on material which is antique, obsolete, out of business, and out of date, other than blind selfishness. There are a large number of people, poor, disabled, elderly and so forth, who would dearly love to be able to acquire this stuff. So much potential happiness stifled due to pointless greed.

I sure hope it happens soon. In the meantime, I am trying to do my part to show children (like my own), what a wonderful legacy of STILL playable games are out there. Old software is a piece of history, a true piece of Americana, that ALL should have a right to experience. Imagine if we did the same to literature and film. What a terrible waste that would be.

Affectionately,
Muffit

STUPID DAGGIT!!!

Well, here it is Good Friday, and like all Good Fridays something has to happen to remind me of the pain Someone experienced this day so long ago.

So I fell down the stairs!

And here I sit, ice pack wrapped around my ankle, doctors closed of course ( dag nab insurance wouldn't pay anyway), my right ankle either broken or something terribly close. Well, thankfully I got my spouse to pick me up some crutches (med supply was closed but pharmacy had them). But the fam' is off to see the relatives 2 hours away, so here I am trying to figure out how I am gonna get by today. Fun, fun, fun, as the Beach Boys would say. :)

Pain isn't too bad (but I did scream pretty loud for about 10 minutes after it happened - till someone finally came to get me up off the floor).

Stupid daggit. Nice way to spend the holiday. Could be worse -- oh wait, it is worse. Ah, heck, I got ya'all to keep me company, that's pretty neat!

Heres something to cheer you up.

An elderly gentleman of 85 feared his wife was getting hard of hearing.
So one day he called her doctor to make an appointment to have her hearing checked. The Doctor made an appointment for a hearing test in two weeks, and meanwhile there's a simple informal test the husband could do to give the doctor some idea of the state of her problem.
"Here's what you do," said the doctor, "start out about 40 feet away from her, and in a normal conversational speaking tone see if she hears you. If not, go to 30 feet, then 20 feet, and so on until you get a response."
That evening, the wife is in the kitchen cooking dinner, and he's in the living room. He says to himself, "I'm about 40 feet away, let's see what happens."
Then in a normal tone he asks, "Honey, what's for supper?" No response.
So the husband moved to the other end of the room, about 30 feet from his wife and repeats, "Honey, what's for supper?" Still no response.
Next he moves into the dining room where he is about 20 feet from his wife and asks, "Honey, what's for supper?" Again he gets no response.
So he walks up to the kitchen door, only 10 feet away. "Honey, what's for supper?" Again there is no response.
So he walks right up behind her. "Honey, what's for supper?"
"Damn it Earl, for the fifth time, CHICKEN!" :)

:rose:   muffit sorry to hear about the fall. you sound like me. I had the weekend from Hades. It didn't start out right Thursday mrning and just snowballed from there.

The only bright spots were we are farther along on the wedding plans. Sister is printing the invites and reply cards for us. Mom and her friend are handling the flowers and favors. Still got a few things to work out but its getting there. I got decorations and and my shoes this weekend along with the marriage liscence and my mom her dress. We also picked the first song we are dancing to. On the other hand I am still fighting with my niece about the jacekt/shawl color. Mom and dad are stepping in on that one! I am laying down the law about the color I want her to wear and they are reinforcing it!

Here's another silly tale to help poor Muffit feel better:

A blonde female police officer pulls over a blonde gal in a convertible sports car for speeding.

She walks up to the car and asks the blond for her driver's license. The blonde convertible driver searches through her purse in vain.

Finally she asks, "What does it look like?" The blonde police officer tells her, "It's that thing with your picture on it."

The blonde driver searches for a few more seconds, pulls out her compact, opens it and sure enough sees herself.

She hands the compact to the blonde cop.

After a few seconds looking at the compact, the blonde cop rolls her eyes, hands the ompact back to the blonde convertible driver and says, "If you would have told me you were a police officer when I first pulled you over we could have avoided this whole thing."

ok you can add me to the injured list again....

the next door neighbours dog would not stop barking this am (I'd been caring for her for the past 3 days till they came home last night.) anyways it was very early and the bf was still asleep and I didn't want it to wake him up and she was obviously distressed cause the owners had left her alone, so stupid me thinking I'm still 18 and not 40 decided to climb the fence it's about 5 feet high so with her in my arms I had to drop from that height to the cement below...there was a narrow wall a couple feet higher than the rest of the driveway that I was aiming for and missed. So I successfully removed a good portion of the skin on my last two toes , will possibly lose a nail and it was my previously injured foot of course. It was hard to limp back to the house with the dog in my arms and when I got there the bf got all angry (thats how he reacts when he's upset) I was limping around trying to get what I needed to take care of it, because he was freaking out at me. I was shaking violently from the shock of it which just got him more upset. To think he has an industrial first aid ticket and has worked as a first aid attendant profesionally, anyways the drugs have now kicked in so I'm feeling MUCH better :D
Just shake your head at me or something no need to feel too bad about it. ;) :D

It appears that the forces of gravity have been doing their evil work all over the place.

My son had a very minor trip/fall yesterday at his grandparents house; running after the dog who had decided his new Power Ranger looked like a chew toy. So he gets up, brushes himself off, and continues on his way. There's no swelling, no limit to his range of motion, no pain, no guarding, no nothing to indicate injury. Anyway, today as he's getting ready to go back to school he informs my wife and I that his knee is hurt very badly and that tomorrow he will need to go to the hospital. Being the doting, empathic, sympathetic father I am, I ask him: "If it hurts so bad today, why do you need to go to the hospital tomorrow?" "Because" my son responds, "today I get to go outside and run around. Tomorrow I have music class and I hate music class." He has, throughout the day, maintained this stance with us: despite no indication of injury whatsoever.

And he's only six.

He's only going to get smarter.

It's going to be a challenging adolescence.

;)

Hope everyone on the injured list recovers quickly.

Happy holliday, C1C.

Muffit maybe try some codein? (as long as your not sensitive to it) 222 are available over the counter here...they would help to knock down the pain..Keep the foot elevated too that will help to reduce pain, ASA is an anti inflamatory so it should help, but it's hard on the stomach...

Sorrell no way can I wear shoes right now there is no flesh left on the last toe I removed a fair chunk of flesh well past the skin layer! Yuk! not sure about the nail cause my toe nails are painted and I don't want to get any nail polish remover too near the open wound, but I can see purple at the base of the second toe nail bed so I'm not sure ...I'm such a sily girl!!!:/:

Hi BST! Thanks for asking. Well, I must admit I've been procrastinating on seeing the doc due to cost, hoping it would either heal itself or go out completely. It was starting to get better yesterday and I was so thankful -- I could even walk without the crutches a bit. But last night I had another nasty nightmare and jumped in my sleep -- using the bad leg to push.

Whatever I did, I threw it out again, and I'm back in pain. *sigh* My gut feeling is that it is a severe sprain, but I keep hearing popping noises, so who knows?

If it's still bad Monday, I guess I will have to ante up for xrays.
Thanks for asking!

I can understand your apprehension, due to the cost. But, you need to have it checked out. The 'popping noises' aren't a good sign. Even a small fracture (not a clean break) can do tissue damage. You don't want this causing you difficulty down the road. I know that it may not be easy but, the cost, later on, could outweigh the cost today.

Try to keep your weight off that ankle as much as possible and keep it elevated, to avoid swelling.

(Dr BST's prescription for the day) :D

Keep us posted, please!

Muffit if the Two asprin and call me in the morning hasn't worked by now, you may need to see a Doctor. Bst is right, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. It may be broken and you may be causing more problems for the future.............

Rowan

Muffit Nurse Rowan here I have some questions about your ankle

you have a broken bone if:

1-the pain is progressive, localized, deep throbing, persistent, unrelieved by immobilization and medications;and increased pain on passive stretch, and or movement

2-Swelling, tenderness, deformity, and bruising

3-Crepitus (grating sensation) and loss of function

the ONLY thing they need to do to start with is an x-ray they will want to take 3 views , if they charge per view and it's a lot tell them to only take 1, i will be sufficient for them to tell if they are looking at a fracture that needs further intervention and at that point your talking major moula, but one picture is enough to rule out major intervention, and determine that it is just a flesh wound ok, don't let them bully you into more they are full of horse manure! In Canada that x-ray belongs to the patient, if you move around a lot you should always collect your x-rays especially women because they are a great tool for diagnosing the development of osteoperosis. The Dr. can look at x-rays from your past and compare it to the new ones and see the changes in bone density, very handy!!

BST is right just keep it elevated to reduce swelling, use pain killers , anti inflammatory's, muscle relaxant and use the crutches!!! stay off the foot

is it swollen?

Can you describe the poping noises? are they loud, very faint? are they coming from the wounded area? do you feel anything when you hear these sounds? does it sound like pop corn or bubble wrap? it could be the movement of fluid so if the ankle and foot are swollen I want you to push on that area with your index finger firmly then remove your finger and look are your skin is there a dent in your skin where your finger was? Now I want you to check the temperature of both feet do they feel the same if not what is the difference, I want you to now look at the toes of your injured foot (remove nail polish ) take each toe one at a time and pinch the tip of your toe where your nail bed is for a second. The nail bed should go white after you do this then it sould return to the pink colour it was before you do this, I want you to time how long it takes to go from white to pink it will take seconds but I want to know how many seconds, for each toe...if they are all the same then just state that but I still need a number. Can you wiggle your toes? is there any bruising? Did you break the surface of the skin? ok enough questions for now! I'll keep cheking to see if you 've answered, make sure to answer all the questions.:D ;)

Hang in there ((((((((((poor Muffit))))))))))))))

Sorry it took me so long to get back Rowan, am buried in assembly right now (actually I wrote the archives in machine language, i.e. hex opcodes only, so since it's been ages I've gotta re-source everything just to figure out what the blazes I was doing, LOL!)

Ankle has always been swollen, though not severely so. Mainly the top and the outside face (an ankle with a face???). The noises are popping noises when I twist it a little or stand up. They are loud enough for me to hear but not someone 6 feet away. Toes were badly swollen the first 3 days but that's mostly gone now. Used to stay white for a while when depressed, but now not so much. Black and blue in places (outside face - there I go with the face again! ;)). The main thing is the extreme pain when it happened -- never had a leg injury like that, and I've had some doozies.

Tried to go to the doc today but they were full. Back on crutches except when sitting. Made the mistake of going to the mail box yesterday and am feeling its revenge. I have tried, but have never met a doc who would release x rays, nor in fact any of my medical info. It's like you ran over their dog or something when you ask (even for eye prescriptions).

Thanks for your help! And thank you all for your kind thoughts!

Ok Muffit that really does not sound very good to me at all! when you pinch the tips of your toes they turn white but they should be pink in less than 3 seconds other wise you have a problem with circulation to the foot, which means tissue death and damage...:/: :( The noises bother me a lot!
It really does not make any sense for them to keep it (x-ray) I'd love to know what the laws of your state say about that. Let me assure you they are not gung ho about releasing medical info to us in Canada either but if you remind them it is your by law they kinda get the hint...

The Federal Government recently upped the ante as far as personal privacy is concerned with health records - but you are always entitled to your own medical records!

Radiologists today are almost all digitized, anyway - whoever actually does the x-ray (or MRI or CT) should be able to give you a CD with the pictures on it (probably for a fee). But the bottom line is that if any doctor refuses to give you your own records he'd better have a damn good excuse - meaning he has no right to keep them from you. (If you were to owe money that might be a wrinkle; but usually not).

Um, that's not legal advice, by the way. ;)

I'll add my voice to the chorus: Go to the doctor, Muffit.

Hopefully Muffit is offline now because she is at the doctor getting her poor ankle checked out, or at least I hope so. You have to (not) love the fact that in one of the richest and most "advanced" countries in the world we still have people who can't get the medical help they need because they are worried about the price. I have been in that position, where I made too much money to qualify for aid and not enough to actually pay for anything I really needed. It's one of the reasons I took the job I am at now. I may be overqualified and underpaid, but you can't beat the benefits.

But, that is a rant that is more suited for a "Soapbox" thread so I will stop my discussion there and send good thoughts to our favorite daggit instead.

You can always get copies of your health information. You may not get the originals, but the the copies are a good start. No one said you couldn't have them. I think their reaction is just the fact that they have to do more work to get you the copy. So copies should always be available to you.

my electric roaster is cooking a nice pork roast. At least it don't heat up the apartment! got my windows open and enjoying this spring day. did some spring cleaning this morning with the vaccuum and got rid of cobwebs and cleaned the heating vents!

Mmmmmmm, roast pork. Yum! I can hold off the BBQ for one more day, when's dinner?

As for spring cleaning, the problem with that is that as soon as it gets nice I want to be outside as much as humanly possible (I'd sleep outside if my mattress wasn't so comfortable), so once it is time to spring clean I am not around to clean. And wheen it's winter I am too busy hibernating to clean. <Sigh> I need a househusband to take care of that stuff for me!

In my case there are two not-so-invisible goblins and they are my dogs. I could have the whole house spotless and they will prove faster-than-light travel theory by messing it up in a nanosecond. Einstein should have met my puppy before he authored his Theory of Relativity!

I still like to blame the invisible goblin, rather than my 4 pooches! :) They would not do such a thing! ;)

Sorrell it's a brand of pure grain alcohol 2 types one is 151 proof (75%) the other is 190 proof(95%) and it's illegal in many states, it can kill you if you drink even a relatively small amount, and you shouldn't do it as a shooter.:wtf:

the pork roast was so well done that when I tried to take it out of the roaster and slice it up it was falling off the bones. It was delicious.

The wedding plans are starting to progress rather well now. Invitations are getting sent out soon and those that were locals that my family hand delivered are already starting to reply to us. have to be in my parents twon on the 8th and 16th of next month. One appointment is for pre marital counseling and the other date even though my mother won't say what is going on on the 16th is that I suspect that they are throwing a bridal shower for me.

I love it when tha meat is falling off the bone, Yummy!
By what I have seen on the tele, bridal showers look fun. We do not have them here, we have Hen nights, where the bride to be goes out with her friends, dressed up in a veil with all sorts of things stuck to it, there tends to be a striper, lots of alcohol, fun and dancing. ;)

It wasn't illegal in Panama. We had a friend who soaked apples and oranges in it and then mixed it with Tropical Punch Hi-C. We called it Jungle Juice and it was very potent. It was the first and last time I ever drank Everclear, I don't recommend it as I was sick for days afterwards (as was everyone else at the party). We ended up having a 10 mile march two days after the party and we had to carry 30 pound rucksacks on our backs in 95 degree Fahrenheit weather. You could tell who had been at the party as we were all the last to cross the finish line, absolutely drenched in sweat. It did help flush the last of that nasty stuff out of our system, though. I must have drunk 6 gallons of water that day.

And to explain: I was a VERY good kid, never got in trouble, got straight A's in school, etc. I had never had so much as a sip of wine until I was 19. By then, I had been in Panama for a few months and decided to see what I had been missing. I made up for being so very good all those years by being very bad for about a year. After that, I got it out of my system & it's been back to good girl mode for 12 years now (more or less ;) ).

Hi all!

Okay, well, the doc said my brain has to come out. I'm not using it anyway so I said he could have it. He said he doesn't want it, it's probably toxic and disposal is too expensive. So I said, what do I do with it? And he said, do you have a cat?

Errr.. even cats aren't THAT desperate!!!

:D :D :D

Seriously, he said there was internal bleeding and possible fracture, so he sent me for xrays. Funny thing, I'm actually doing a heck of a lot better today than when I made the appt. Anywho, they took 3 shots and he'll call me tomorrow with the results. Funny, at the xray lab it was kinda like lobotomy lotto, there was this sign that said 40% discount if you skip the insurance gambit and pay right away. I hate games of chance!!! They looked at my insurance card like it was from Pluto. Guess I should've taken door #1...

And how's your foot, Rowan?

On a lighter note, I was getting ready for bed last night and there is a skylight above my bed. It was a little warm & stuffy so I went to open it. Well, the puppy had apparently never noticed the evil dog in the ceiling before (he saw his reflection in the skylight) and completely freaked out. He jumped up on the bed and tried to crawl through the skylight to get the evil dog who was coming down from the sky to get his mommy.

He actually got his claws out the skylight and was trying to climb through it when I stopped laughing long enough to grab him. The rest of the night he perched on the edge of my bed and sat there, staring at the skylight and waiting for that evil dog he had seen to come back. I woke up at 2 AM and he was still there! Poor thing was exhausted today.

I have seen a simular thing. I had an extension put onto the back of my house, with a skylight. On the first evening, when it was completed and all my furnishings were in, one of my dogs looked up to find his twin looking back. We could see the confusion on his face. He did whine alot staring at it. He would just stand there for an hour at a time. The other dogs kept milling around him excitedly, but because they did not look up, they did not know why he was behaving that way. At first we found it really funny, but this went on for months, Sox standing stock still, looking up, whining. It became at bit irratating, as his whines are very loud as he is very big, so I brought a blind for it, so now the problem is gone.

A medical reason to "give 'em the finger"? Cool. :D

My 'wound' occurred while a friend and I were throwing football. I was going out for a pass and he lofted one, right on target. I leapt in the air, doing my best impersonation of Lynn Swann, and caught it. The only problem was that the "target" was my right pinky. The nose of the ball hit the top of the pinky and broke the bottom bone of the pinky.

I went to have it x-rayed and after giving me the 'bad' news, they PUT IT IN A CAST up to, but not over, the elbow! For a pinky! (I "remarked" that if I had broken my arm, they would have probably put me in a body cast!) The doctor laughed and explained that the break was circular and they had to immobilize both the finger AND the wrist, to avoid tissue damage. I figured that I better keep my mouth shut before they WIRED it shut!
:D

I had the dang thing on for 3 weeks but, in a way, it wasn't all bad. I still continued to throw football although, now, with my left hand. (I'm a natural righty.) Anyway, the first couple days were rough but, by the beginning of the 2nd week, I was throwing a spiral about 10-12 yards. Beyond that, it fluttered like a drunken bird.

Well he is also the teacher who kept me and my boyfriend after school one day my boyfriend decided he was going to make a run for it I was not far behind but the teacher caught me draged me back into the class by the scruff of the neck then he bent and grabed a handfull of the waist band of my pants picked me off the ground and chucked me through the air I sailed over 2 desks and crashed into the wall and hit my head on the rim of the chalk board. I don't remember anything after that. Many years later... in fact I was 16 I retold this story to my mother and she turned to me and said "you mean that really happened?" I always thought you were lying about it! I asked her if she had seen any bruises on me and she said I had a bump on my forhead and a couple of bruises but the idea that the teacher would do such a thing just seemed so implosible to her that she thought I must have made it up! :/:

nope. there was a story on the local news last night about a teacher who has been placed on admin leave due the teacher going postal on a kid after the kid allegedly set a piece of paper on fire when the teacher was out of the room. This teacher threw a book and a baseball at the kid and then proceeded to swear at the kid. According to the report the kid's actions are also being investigated and if it is found that he set some paper on fire he too will have legal troubles.

More Teacher stories

You know how when you’re in high school the guys like to tip back in their chairs and balance there? Well we has this teacher who would come up behind you if you were doing that and yank on the back of the chair, a lot of the guys got hurt crashing to the floor hitting their head there. One day he had 18 of us out in the hall punished for various reasons.

I remember one day he was so po'ed over a student he grabbed her roughly by the arm and started hauling her out of her chair she was a tough farm girl and tried to fight him off they got into a tussle and he wound up pulling most of her top off so that everyone saw her bras then he shoved her out of the class room and slammed the door shut. He was young and very inexperienced and we made it hard on him we only had him for 3 months.

I had another teacher in high school grad 10 I think who was teaching us English, we were reading this short story about a man who has gone to the barber shop where the barber is using a straight razor to shave the client and the story describes the movement of the razor across the mans throat and you hear the thinking of the barber about how easy it would be to slice his clients throat etc. you get the picture, anyways the teacher before starting this story asked on of the male students to come and sit in a chair facing the rest of the class and he picked up a pen and using it in lieu of the straight razor proceeded to act out the story on the student as he read! We were all so freaked out about it! He was also gone a few months later!

that just gave me the creeps. We had a teacher in the school where I went to for my freshman year and this teacher was so stupid it was laughable. He would get knocked out by students everytime that he would single handedly try to stop a fight. Mind you this was the same teacher my older sis had when she went to that school for sophmore English. This guy carried a briefcase like it was a purse!!!!! He once berated her in front of the other students because she refused to do an assignment. He told her she was stupid, fat, lazy and would never amount to anything. Mistake number one! He then said "I don't think you have the guts to tell me what you really think of me." Can we say Big Mistake????? She stood up, grabbed her books and in no uncertain terms told him "Your nothing but a fracking Fairy!" and then walked out of class. She got suspended for a few days but got a round of applause when she came back to school by the students in her English class.
Needless to say that if I had stayed in that school I would have had him the following year! That would have forced that poor pathetic jerk into early retirement!

3 different school actually, makes you wonder doesn't it!

Yes I have a "special" mother :/:

My mother was a real "WINNER" too Rowan.

She trys the Denial game every time she can and she wants
to know why I don't come to see her ...................DUHHHHHHHHHHHH

Gee ..........where did they Get these "teachers" ROcky shop of HORRORS R-US?

My third grade teacher had only one arm, she had lost the other in a nasty car accident and she was one of the meanest old bats I have ever encountered. We all lived in fear of her. One day she had told us all to be quiet and color pictures. If you weren't quiet you had to put your head on the desk and close your eyes. It was a bizarre punishment, but she was a bizarre woman, so we expected it from her.

I was coloring away and I had a big tin can full of crayons on my desk. I had some song stuck in my head and was nodding back and forth to the tune and mouthing the words to myself. I don't remember making any noise, but the next thing I know she was screaming at me to shut up. She went to slam my head down on the desk and my mouth hit the edge of the can instead. I still have the chip in my front tooth, but my mother swears to this day that I must have done it somewhere else, that a teacher would never have done that. I am glad that I am not the only one with a mother living in Denialville. I am both happy and sad to learn that I am not.

My fifth grade teacher had these two nasty rings onher right hand they were jaged and pointy and when ever you upset her she'd threaten you with the back of that hand, I kept imagining the gouges that would leave on my face!

It looks awfully nice from where I'm sitting, but that is behind a one foot thick concrete wall with only a small window (more like a porthole) that doesn't open. I guess it's just as well, otherwise I would just spend all day thinking about being outside (instead of only half the day visiting Fleets). <sigh> I used to be such a productive employee.

I have the first of two dress rehearsals for the play I am in tonight, so I think I will get some pierogies out of the freezer and boil them, as it only takes about 5 minutes to make them.

I try to keep an emergency supply of pierogies and peas in the freezer, just in case. But, I'm the only one at home, so I don't have to worry about pleasing someone else's palate. (One of the very few advantages to being a singleton, I suppose.)

We are having our first real SPRING in 8 years -- SO nice! Usually by now you can hear the thrum of AC units all day and all night. But this year the wind is being kind and keeping our temp in the wonderful 70's. You can tell nature has noticed too -- the birds are chirping more happily than I've ever heard them.

I truly love my crock pot. We usually make the roast in a deep pot on top of the stove to avoid using the oven, which heats up the kitchen and is a pain on already hot days. Problem there is, I invariably get caught up on my PC and forget to check it -- till I smell the tell-tale smoke of forgetfullness. But yesterday I just plopped it into the crock, added a stew of yummy spices, and forgot about it. Ah, 6:00 and no cares all day -- and the fam' loves the new smell it gives off (I'm having fun experimenting with unique spices)!

Anything that ameliorates circumstances surrounding my poor short term memory is a Godsend in my book! ;)

:muffit:

P.S. Bsg -- make sure you arrange a photographer your are sure to be happy with -- this is the biggest day of your life and you wanna capture every moment of it. Setting up a tape recorder at both the wedding and reception can be a really great idea. People don't notice it ike a vid camera and you'd be surprised all the funny things you'll catch on tape!

Hi Sorrell! My internet has been offline for a while now. Comcast broadband is really fast but they are broken as much as they are online. *sigh* Funny, I called tech support and they tried to tell me it was my sys. I knew it wasn't cuz my sys has verify lights that let me know the 'puter and modem see each other (USB status LEDs).

Thanks for asking about my ankle . Still hurts, mainly now my toes hurt. Also noticed I messed up my back a bit. I can hear pops every day. Oh well, could be worse I guess ;)

How are things with you?

When I fell down the stairs I guess I did more than injure my ankle. My other foot hurts now too, as does my back. Didn't notice before cuz of the pain in my right foot.

That'll teach me to change directions suddenly when climbing the stairs! ;)
Actually though, the symptoms are pretty minor. Got more unpleasant pain on my plate than that, so it doesn't really matter.

we are going to have pictures done by one of the people at the wedding and then disposables at the reception. I think his dad might even bring the new camcorder he bought, yeah right, not in a million years!

Muffit I've been meaning to ask you about your ankle (thanks Sorrell) your back might be bothering you because of the way you have been favoring your foot, an uneven gait could do it!

Muffit
May 15th, 2004, 11:42 AM
Hi Rowan! Actually, haven't favored my foot in quite some time, but thanks for asking! What I am feeling is all the little aches and pains that were drowned out before. I guess when I fell I bumped myself up pretty good. Nothing to worry about though. I'm sure it'll all go away eventually.

My only real difficulty is driving. After 10 minutes or so the ankle starts hurting pretty good and the other day I had to drive for several hours so when I came back it was swollen again and very painful. Heck with it, there are worse things!

Thank you all for your kind thoughts!

The thunderstoem last night was incredible, it kept me awake most of the night, what with the rain hitting my skylight so hard I thought it was going too shatter, the lightning making the room as bright as day, the thunder shaking the house (and the shepherd freaking out and pacing and panting and pacing and panting all night long on the wooden floors: click click click click pant pant click click click click pant pant... ).

But, my boss and I are glued to the radar readout at http://www.intellicast.com at the momentas it looks like another nasty storm is due to hit southern NH, Massachusetts and possibly Connecticut, so watch out if you live in those areas.
