Welcome one and all! While we wait to see if (when!) our beloved Galactica Cafe reopens, here be a place to rest your lazy bones and be completely silly! Your hosts: the beavers of course! They've been itchin' to make a comeback - well, actually they've just been itchin' - they are hairy after all - so pull up a log and join the fun! I'll start! :D
*Gnawty Beaver walks in carrying a big bucket with some kind of yellow liquid in it. *
Harry: "What the frack is that Gnawty?"
Gnawty: *puffing*"What do you think? You asked for it."
Harry: "And what might that be?"
Gnawty: "You know - what you asked for. Took me half the day and a ton of volunteers."
Harry: "SO WHAT IS IT ALREADY!!!???"
Gnawty: "A lot of urine, of course!"
Harry: "What???!@#$ No, no, no, I didn't say a lot of urine, I said alot of yahren!!!"
Gnawty: :nervous: "Oooooops... Sure you couldn't use some???"
Harry: "OUT!!! OUT!!! Get yourself a hearing aid for Sagan's sake!!!"
*The room dissolves into laughter*

Oh man, I am so glad I found this place!
My friend George Francisco is going to be
so surprised when I bring him here. He's
a Newcomer -- and he just loves beaver
but it's hard finding a place to take him
for lunch and it's my turn next (I also
found out the hard way not to use the
phrase "I'm so hungry I could eat a
horse" around him -- man, was that
ever an experience!). So, anyway, can
I make a reservation for two for lunch
on Sunday? Oh....huh? OH.....my bad,
I just thought "BEAVER CAFE" and kinda
assumed that....... OH......no, I'm very
sorry. Really, I mean it -- hey, some of
my best friends are beavers. Yes, well,
thanks anyway...........
Oh, well, maybe I'll just go by the store
and pick something up and invite George
over for lunch and watch a game.........

You guys are baaaaaaad, oops this is about beavers, sorry wrong animal.
Anyways I have a beaver joke for all of you so here goes…
Little Johnny was taking a shower with his grandma
He casually asked, “Grandma what’s that?” She quickly replied, “That’s my beaver. Little Johnny didn’t say another word.
Two days later he was taking a shower with his mom. Little Johnny asked, “Mommy what’s that?” She replied, “Well Johnny that’s my beaver.”
Little Johnny thought for a bit and said “
Oops I guess I shouldn’t finish this I wouldn’t want to violate the pg 13 rating, sorry about that. Well it’s been a pleasure gnawing on you , I mean with you, I mean chatting with you. toodles

Something to gnaw on...
Latin name: Castor Canadensis
physical description:"The beaver is highly adapted to it's aquatic life with webbed hind feet, the rudder-like tail, valves that close off the ears and nostrils, skin that seals off the mouth but leaves the incisors free for underwater gnawing and carrying and clear membranes that slide over the eyes protecting them from floating debris. During the early nineteenth century the beaver pelt was the single most valuable commodity, the pelt being used for robes, coats, clothing trims, and top hats. Nowadays the pelt is still highly valued, the flesh and sometimes, the tail are considered tasty but the beaver is now protected from over trapping."

a day in the life of; Today I went to school handed in my work on a disk (brand new) as the teacher requested and surprise surprise we could see the file but it wouldn't open, I looked so awful my teacher who is a nurse asked me about it I told her I'd had 12 hours sleep 6 days because I can't stop coughing long enough to sleep and was surviving on adrenalin and will power and feeling like a walking zombie. She told me to go to the doctor right away. I had an apointment anyways so I went but when I got to the skytrain (like a metro, tube, light rail, subway, L, but it's high up above ground) had just sat down when screeching tires and wham! car crash a block away, well great (student nurse firstaid ticket holder and all that I run up to see if I can help but everyone was ok so I ran back to catch the bus, I'm exhausted so I lay down on the bench put my head on my back pack and close my eyes when wham1 some guy dumped his enormous and very heavy back pack on my head!!! well after rubing my head and assuring him I was ok I head off to the doctors get the meds head back home but I get on the wrong bus I even had a choice I stood there and looked at the two buses and picked the wrong one! so it takes me much further away but still drops me off at a skytrain stop but when I got off I didn't recognise where I was despite the fact it was the same station I had just been at earlier (and one I have known well for 10 years!) got on the train and blew past my stop before I realised were I was, took it back to the right stop caught the next bus and promptly fell asleep but someone upstairs took pitty on me and I woke up in time to get off at the right stop and get home, whew! what a day, I am very excited about the possibility of getting a real good night sleep and I get to sleep in tomorrow yeah! this sleep deprevations is killing me (they won't let me do clinical because I'm sick) :) I could really use a cup of tea and just put my feet up

we'll be here to lend you a shoulder when you need it. That was one thing I hated about being a housekeeper in a nursing home when I was in high school. I got to know so many of the residents and I cried every time I went home from work if we lost a resident that I had become friends with.
Galen, don't worry. I am stressing over my wedding. Just taking it a step at a time to get things done. It don't help when my older sister tries to tell me that she wants all my bridesmaids and maid of honor to have bouquets instead of a coursage which is in the budget I have set for floral expenses. Good thing that I am using silk flowers, that brings down the cost. My mom, myself and my mom's friend who is like an aunt to me is helping with the decorations.

I do know what it's like to be at a reception that STINKS. I was at one where
I didn't even get a meal because the bride's mother invited over 250 guests
for a wedding that was budgeted at 60 guests .......................:wtf:
GO FIGURE.............. I really felt bad for the bride ...........she was appalled
because she went out of her way to keep the wedding within budget.
My wedding it cost $4,000 tops. And that was INSPITE of
people who tried to sabatoge it at every turn. I thank God that I
and my fiance paid for it ourselves and were able to keep the haters
at bay.

A real double wammy! I'm glad you weren't misdiagnosed the way I was, I still can't breath properly my O2 sats are at 97% . Make sure you drink lots of fluids to loosen up all the phlegm. I'm still sitting up in bed too it's been a month of this and I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired, you just cannot get a good nights sleep like that. Hopefully yours won't last as long. well the weird thing about this flue is that it combines both there is so much production of mucus for the first few days, (giving you sinus headachs and a very tender nose), it's unbelievable! then the coughing and difficulty breathing start and never seem to end.

Oh bsg I truly empathise :rose: been there too many times. I hate that time in a pets life, it's so hard and every time I always swear that's it no more and then I cave 'cause I just can't resist. 14 is a good age to live to, and once the kidneys go on an animal it's very hard to make that sustainable. I always imagine that their probably having a blast, young again, pain free chaising the butterflies or some ball , probably thinks I'm a goof , "silly mummy I'm right here can't you see me?".

I loved that dog. He was always at the door waiting for us when we got there. It was like he knew we were coming. Kev's mom said that he'd be sitting at the kitchen door five minutes before we got there. I'll miss that Brittany Spaniel, he was a painat times when he wanted to share the couch with you but he was also lovable.

Hey all, you might think me a bit out of touch if I mention this, but I finally tried my hand at using a crock pot for dinner. That because my family is tired of me burning dinner when I get sidetracked on the computer ;). So they bought me one (hint, hint).
Funny thing, we received SEVEN at our wedding, but traded all of them in cuz we needed food more than cooking utensils. Well, I gotta say a BIG THUMBS UP to this way of cooking! My first try was a chuck roast stew, and YUM was it ever good! It was so easy too, I just made up the batch while my daughter got ready for school and flipped the switch. And voila, nigh and behold at 5:30 it was ready, with NO checking every few minutes to add water, etc. I sure like that!
Even found a whole website of crock pot cooking ideas. Now if I can just get the fam' to try out new dishes... ;)

I had the same problem with cooking a roast in the oven. It took forever! So, the last time I went to visit my parents they sent me home with a new appliance. A roaster oven. Now I just add water, meat and my veggies and let 'er rip. In two hours I have a no fuss and very little to clean up dinner! These things are a gift from the gods!

Well I had to share this with you guys...
Remember I told you a little about the "great teachers" we have at my school and some of my problems well recently there has been a great deal of turmoil in my semester and the students got together and wrote a letter of complaint to the entire nursing department. I t was unanimously agree to by the entire student body of 4th semester! Here is the Assistant deans response to that letter.
Dear Debbie and the entire Semester Four student Body: (please forward this to all the
students if you like):
I have just received the semester IV letter and I am so very, very proud of the work that
you have collectively produced. As I read the letter, I could not help but feel my heart
swell with pride at the amazing work you have all done. The letter is professional,
constructive, very respectful and very, very hopeful.
I want to thank you for receiving me into "your" classroom and for sharing your
thoughts. It took courage and trust in yourselves and in me.
This process of finding your voices began on February 25th...and I am hoping that
through this very process, you have not only found your voice, but that you are
beginning to feel empowered .This letter certainly signals so.
I want to thank you, for your time and effort in "crafting" the letter.
The letter's language is articulate and sophisticated. If I had to grade this letter is would
get an A+!....
I want to share one of my favorite persons in history, a cultural anthropologist named
Margaret Mead. She has inspired me with her vision and her sense of humanity.
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world:
Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has".
Margaret Mead.
Thank you for the priviledge of hearing your voices. I am hoping to be invited to your
class at the end of term so we can touch base...over coffee and cookies perhaps?
It will be on me!!
Sincerely

We have the strangest weather. We have only /two/ seasons (or maybe I should say "too" seasons ;) ) -- too hot, and too cold!
We have no Fall. We have no Spring. It stays 40 or below all Winter till about the middle of March, then it goes straight to 84-100 every day (usually 90 or above clear thru till October).
The downside is, to survive it, all year long either your heater is on, or your air conditioner is. And PGE obliges us so nicely by hiking natural gas rates in the winter (what our heater uses) and electricity in the summer (our AC). Nice of them to care. (!@#$%!)
Ah well, at least a few trees enjoy Spring and Fall. We have this beautiful young tree in the side yard that bursts out in gorgeous reds in "Fall" and the most stunning little white puffy bunches of flowers in the Spring. I keep forgetting the name, I've been told so many times but, you know how Alzheimers gets ya after 20. (:)).
Cheers all!

I went to a class on ADD/ ADHD, and teaching diverse learner types. It was well worth it!

I have taken several classes in special ed, and it has helped so much to understand where some of the children are coming from. The ADHD children I have are really bright. Two of them I am requesting that they be tested for TAG, (talanted and gifted), that program falls under special ed too. What a wide range of areas it covers, from learning problems to gifited!
