Thank you my mighty gnome friend I'll remember that if I have to call in the troops. I am taking on a new lease in life and taking control of what I do and how I do it.
Good on you

If the little rodents are causing a problem I can send out my crack-troop of kitties! :salute:

I feel like banging my head against a wall and throwing up my hands and say to my older sis that she can do whatever she wants to ruin my life cause she has just gone and ruined my wedding! I am being told by my mother and Kev not to say anything but its so unfair to ruin everything that I wanted to go my way for my day!bsg! BSG! BSG ok now that I have your attention! I f you feel that

Your sister is ruining your life/wedding plans you really need to speak up! For many years of your relationship she has been the boss/ in charge whatever because she is the eldest but with this particular event she is not!!! She's probably just used to this role and it hasn't sunk in yet that this time is different. You need to sit down and explain your feelings to her, if you can't do this verbally write her a letter, or get bossy yourself and lay down the law! This is your wedding YOU are in charge and EVERYONE needs to respect that! This is one of THE biggest days of your ENTIRE LIFE!!! You need to be true to you! or not only will you be upset with your sister but later you will be upset with YOU! Because you didn't stand up for yourself! You have the right to insist on YOUR wishes for YOUR wedding; do not be afraid to exert them!!!

I have more to say about this so am comming back to this topic later...:D ;)

she bent a little when I came up with a suggestion that benefitted my wishes and the dress my niece is wearing! I nearly fell over when she agreed to a compromise just cause she can't return the dress!

I am glad to hear that a little progress has been made. :)
But you must be sure its the compromise that you want.

I am happy to hear she is bending and compromising and that you spoke to her about it but I have to agree with Sorrell! there are other dresses out there she could save this one for another occasion and get a new one for the wedding, offer to pay for it if you can afford it. Hang in ther bsg.

Poor shiningstar! (or lucky shiningstar??? ;))

Happened to me once. On our honeymoon, we stopped in this tiny town for lunch (Italian outdoor restaurant). We had just one little glass of wine -- what the heck did they put in that?!@#$ We had to waddle around the little town for an hour till it wore off, so we could continue our journey! :D

sounds just like my older sister back in the days before she was on a ton of meds to where she can't drink alcohol. She was the life of the party. Last November was the last time she was able to cut loose before the doctor put her on those meds.

I am a different kind of gal. I know my limit after embarrassing myself in England back when I was 17. I bet a guy that I could outdrink him and did. Had a wicked headache the next morning and never had to worship the throne! I made myself promise never to do that again! Now its three drinks and then I'm on soda!

I learned my lesson too, the hard way! A friend told me that if you drink water between drinks it will help ward off hangovers. It really works.

I want to know how many ladies here would put up with a man who shells peanuts and leaves the shells all over the floor and does not clean it up for 5 weeks! I'm talking many dozens of peanuts not just a couple! I finally caved and just cleaned up his mess in the living room, I really tried to wait him out but I just could not endure it for one more second!!!!

ya I'm pretty depressed about it I've tried everything from charging him money for every piece of garbage he leaves around, I've tried beging and pleading, explaining how it makes me feel. I even explained when he doesn't pick up after himself and I have to get after him about it it feels like i'm his mother (hes 10 yrs younger) and I'm not into incest! I've told him it's destroying our relationship but nothing changes and I can't stand living like this...:/:

Greetings, exalted ones. I am Stray Viper, making my return to the BSG world after a brief respite. Nice to see you all, and nice to see the Colonial Fleets still here!

14th ... good to see ya! Long time no see, even on the GS, where I may not be spending as much time anymore. I'm not sure, I'm mulling it over, even now. But that's good for you BG fans here! Or bad, depending on your point of view ....

Anyway, I'd just like to announce that I'm back, even though I really never left. And that I've been working on an interesting theoretical thoughtful post here ... one that may symbolize the newfound spirit of kinship between the two BG fandoms (and yet one). Just give me a little more time, and your suspension of disbelief, and soon you'll see for yourselves.

You could hire a maid service to clean once a week and make him pay for it. Maybe that would get him to change his ways.

I lack a little experience with kids never really lived with any :(

Poor little things, and poor you can't be fun when they are both sick at once...how old are they? I'm curious once they fall alseep then what you carry them off and put them in their own beds or do they get to sleep in your bed and you have to find somewhere else to sleep?

Rowan -- I hate it when people are slobby (I borrowed someone's car once and had to spend a half hour cleaning stuff out just so I could see the seat and the pedals on the floor!).

My advice -- from an old 60's book about raising children using the old noggin', and yes, most guys are children, duh -- next time he does that, pick up all the shells/mess/whatever, and dump it somewhere where it will irk HIM -- like on his pillow!!! Keep doing that till he learns to look thru someone else's eyes.

:Dboy I suppose I could do that, but is seems harsh, I'm not good at being harsh.... i'd also be a little nervous as to how angry he might get...but I't worth a try I feel like I've exhausted every other idea. I do dump a lot of his stuff on his side of the bed when he dumps it all over the kitchen table and counters...he just sweeps it onto the bedroom floor and crawls into bed!!!
:P:

Poor Rowan, I know what I would do but I am not you, so I will keep quiet.

Back when I was living in Boston I went through four roommates, each one progressively sloppier and more hygienically challenged. The last one had an odor exuding from his room that was so vile I had to hold my nose to walk past it, which was a real pain as I had to go past it to get to the shared kitchen and bathroom. He cleaned the bathroom once in the three years that he lived there and believed that seeing how high you could pile garbage on top of a trash can was a competitive sport.

So, even if I won't offer advice, maybe my tale will help you feel better? It's the reason I've lived alone for the last 2 and 1/2 years and been perfectly happy!

ok I need to let off a little steam with regards to my slob of a bf! I want to know how many ladies here would put up with a man who shells peanuts and leaves the shells all over the floor and does not clean it up for 5 weeks! I'm talking many dozens of peanuts not just a couple! I finally caved and just cleaned up his mess in the living room, I really tried to wait him out but I just could not endure it for one more second!!!!

thank you all for listening:)

When my DH does that ................I hide the nuts .............that drives him NUTS.

But he eventually gets the message that if he wants the nuts he has to shell them and clean up the mess afterward.

well Uno I know what I want to do to him but I enjoy my freedom too much! LOL!

well if he were a room mate I'd have ditched him long ago but now I am seriously beholden to him and owe him a lot of money for all the schooling. Now if The first guy I lived with and put through univestiy for 7 years had only lived up to our agreement I would not be in this situation! he was supposed to put me through university after he was finished, but instread I wound up with nothing in fact worse than nothing, He owes me over 30 thousand dollars (canadian) and there is more but too painful to discuss... but anyways if the (bleep) had only been an honourable person my life would be completely different! why do I get involved with all the wrong men!!! A few months ago a young woman was abducted by three men in a car a few houses away from me as she walked along the street, and we have had a few home invasions just down the block (home invasion is when your home is broken into while you are home, generally you are either beaten or tied up as part of their fun) In other words Although it looks like a nice street nasty things happen here but Nope just doesn't seem to sink into his brain...not a protective bone in his body!:/:

From all that you have said about him, it looks like he needs to grow up and take responsibility.
No one is safe these days, especially women.
I had a go at my son, last week, as he left his front door keys in the front door all night, it was only when I went out the next day, I found them. I was hopping mad at him, anyone could have taken them and used them at a later date, or let themselves in while we were asleep.
Lucky for us, we live in a really nice area, but you can never take it for granted.

He never cleanes the sink after he shaves...if he shaves. he often forgets to flush the toilet, he piles his wet towels on the floor in the bathroom week after week till I can't take it anymore...he goes for weeks before he cuts the lawn, the grass is sometimes 8 inches high or more...and the other day horor of horors I found an old used condom on the floor on his side of the bed...seriously gross! when I brought it to his attention he just shrugged ACK!!! It seems that he is not that interested in a adult relationship, he wants a maid that he can sleep with!
I bet his mother did everything for him when he lived at home. Most of the time, it does not do them any favours, and especially does not help any future partners. So mothers of young sons beware!
Does he treat you with respect in other areas of your relationship?

Rowan

 Yikes this turned into quite the rant apologies It seems that he is not that interested in a adult relationship, he wants a maid that he can sleep with! ya I think you nailed it there!
I bet his mother did everything for him when he lived at home.yes! nothing is expected of him there even now! if we eat over there the daughter who is a married woman is called to help clear the table and do the dishes and the men go into the family room to watch tv ACK! I hate that kind of separation of the sexes. When I see him heading that way It's me that calls him back and tells him to help clear the table and kitchen. Sometimes I get ignorant answeres like "but the game is on or but I want to watch TV" I always point out that, I would like to watch too, but first I'm a guest here and second The work needs to be done, 3rd it's not fair to leave it up to his mom and sister and I to do it all. Most of the time, it does not do them any favours, and especially does not help any future partners. So mothers of young sons beware! I am constantly telling all my friends raising boys how this behaviour can destroy relationships, I really hope they listen.
Does he treat you with respect in other areas of your relationship? Yes I would say it's more a matter of lazziness and a lack of comprehension and experience. He has only ever had one other girlfriend in his life and he dumped her. He has no clue, no ability to place himself in the shoes of others I'm constantly helping him with that. He just doesn't appreciated that I'm serious when I tell him how this is wearing me down, how it's seriously turning me off of the relationship, especially physically, I really am not attracted anymore to him. when it's been months since he's gotten any and I've told him why that is there will be a burst of activity from him for the next week or so and he will be very solicitous, I cave because I'm feeling better and desperate and then a few day later we are back to the way it was. I really can't live like this, then he gets frustrated with me because I'm drawing away, spend more time alone, so he becomes even more needy in a child like way, constantly interupting me if I'm watching a program, reading a book, on the computer, stydying, anything in which he is not the sole reciever of the attention, but he fails to give me any attention, yet he cannot see this at all. Most extraordinary!
It took me 2 years and many fights to get him to "offer" (more like agree ) to come pick me up from work or the skytrain if it was late at night and I was going to have to wait a long time for the next bus, I'd call and ask for a lift it's only ever been a 15 minute trip for him to make but he so begrudges it! despite the fact that it might be 2 am when I get off work downtown Vancouver and I either have to hang around on the dark streets waiting for the next bus or walk home which I tended to do at the time because I had no patience to wait etc. In the last year he has finally stoped giving me a hard time about it but I can still hear the reluctance in his voice, DRIVES ME NUTS! and the skytrain station I wait at is one of the scariest there is, (he knows it but it doesnt seem to make a difference to him) the other day the cops opened fire on 3 guys and shot them not 30 minutes before I got there!
He has many pluses don't get me wrong, he bought his own house at 28, has several vehicles, makes good money and is responsible with it (more or less) he buys me little food treats like chocolate bars, he has a big heart and is generally a nice guy, puts up with me... just really clueless!:/:

A couple of friends told me to try eHarmony.com as it had a good reputation and wasn't full of people looking for fun without the romance, if you know what I mean. I'm not quite to that point yet, I've always had a very low opinion of online dating, but, I'm not getting any younger, either! Ah, decisions, decisions. The bottom line is that the money they ask for a membership fee is money I could put towards the renovations to my house and that is my priority right now.

I do not think that I would pay to find some one. One of my friends met through the single ads in the local paper, and again, I dont fancy going down that route either. There are better ways to meet Mr Right, although they escape me. Pubs/ bars, I think are one of the worse places to meet. After seeing Muffits post of the perils of internet dating, I now sort of have that picture in my mind, of every male I chat to on line.

I forgot about that picture! Oh lord, now I can't get it out of my head, either! Where's the soap, I need to wash my brain!

Seriously, though, eHarmony is a little different. They approach things more scientifically (which is definitely my style) and you fill out this lengthy personality profile and then their computer finds people who are compatible based on this survey. As long as people are honest (and given how much a membership costs they would be very likely to waste time and effort like that) then theoretically you only deal with people who are more likely to be compatible emotionally, etc. rather than it all being based on, "I like guys with blue eyes" or something equally shallow.

Still not quite that desperate yet, though!

He is successful, very funny, intelligent, generous etc.. In November we went to Dublin and shared a hotel room (he booked it and told me that was all they had). I got drunk, It had been 2 years since I had been near a fella and felt lonely, so the boundaries of our friendship crossed. I have been seeing him since, but I do not feel physically attracted to him, so I keep pushing him away subconsciously. On almost every other level, he is my perfect man. He is 37, and I suppose because of his crush on me, has not dated that many women, so he has not got a clue how to treat a girlfriend. I am by no means ugly, and when done up, I regularly have the opposite sex remark on my attractiveness, that is except Patrick. I do not want to be his teacher and tell him blow by blow what to do. In Paris in Febuary, I felt alone as he walked 10 paces ahead of me every where we went. As I said, he has not got a clue. I know that if another bloke comes along that I am attracted to, I would go for it. I feel that I am being fickle and mean.

Love is both the most wonderful and oddest of creatures. Billions of possible mates on this Earth yet how many of us can find even one in our lifetimes that is the yin to our yang? When you find that person, you know it. You do not have to choose between lust and companionship, commonalities and qualities. You fall in like a well of sweet water so luscious you fear not to drown in it. You share not body but souls, intertwined like a masterfully woven quilt that grows throughout your lives. To be apart, even for an hour, is to feel a vital part of you is missing - and when that part returns is the only time you feel whole.
How do you find such a person? How do you keep them? Life rips our hearts from us like an emotionless lion, and leaves our dreams rotting in the African sun.

Our desperate seaarch in life is not to be wealhty, not to be successful, not to be famous. These are such empty things.

We seek only to not be alone inside. An ache only one person can salve.

I would understand the need to walk ahead if I was repulsive, but I know I am not. At least, he is not the only bloke with that trait. He said that I walked too slow. I am not a slow walker, but since I broke my ankle a last year, it is painful to walk all day, so after 3 hours of walking, I slow down. You could still see remants of the bruising, when I was in Paris.

That sounds very fancy, bsg! You must be getting ever more excited.

A friend of mine is getting married in September and he and his fiancee have been working on the wedding plans for about a year now. He even got a rememberance candle to have at the service in honor of his mother, as she passed away many years ago. I'll have to remember that one if I ever find the right man and get married, as my father passed away in 2000. I do love my stepfather, he has been in my life since 1986, but it would be nice to be able to do something in memory of my dad as he can't be there for me in the flesh any longer.

Hi Bsg! If you can, you really ought to try and get a scanner - they are practically indespensible nowadays. They function not only as a great way to share pics, but also make far better copies of your important documents (taxes, birth certificates, etc) than a store xerox machine. And they're unbelievably cheap! You can pick even nice ones up for under $50.

Here's some sample links for ya:

BSG,
Do you know how many are likely to attend?

These days, when I get my photos processed, I pay a little extra, to have them on a CD Rom as well, as the prints.
My friend who was recently married had all her photos put on a rom, by the photographer. Maybe you should look into that.
That would solve the problem of a lack of scanner, and we will be able to see what a beautiful bride you are.
Although, I do recommend that you get one, as Muffit has said, they are really handy at times, especially for photocopying.

Yesterday was very sunny but extremely windy at my house, so it was fairly cool. A good day to mow the lawn, especially since it had rained for so long that some of the grass at my house was waist-high! Now, I know that I'm not very tall (I have shrunk from 5'6" to 5'5 1/4" in the last four years), but that is some tall grass!

It took me six hours and I still have about an acre left to either mow or weed whack. I love my house, but the yard is totally out of control.

Of course, today is gorgeous, which must mean that I am at work... which I am. I needed to pick up some extra shifts at my part-time job so that I can pay for my trip to England, so beggars can't be choosers, I suppose.

Today has been the day sent by Count Iblis himself. My kids are already home .......
It's the last day of school and they are bouncing off of the walls.

I just found out that my oldest child may have Aspergers .............Oh well
what's ONE more person in my family? As I, my child, my niece and my
deceased uncle are also autistic. I'm so tired of my mother saying it's the
vaccinations ..........and NOT 'in the family'.

How can it be anything OTHER then DNA when THREE generations of the SAME
family are AUTISTIC?

My husband was in a wreck .......both HE and the TRACTOR operator are at
fault .......{Like we can afford this in the first place}.

My left ankle {which never healed properly from our 'hike'} is hurting and I
can't even afford to go to the doctor.

And on top of that my husband has been grousing so much about me 'not
doing anything around the house' which is a bald face LIE ........he has the
KIDS doing it now.

can I beat my brother in law with it? On one hand I am so fracking ticked at him right now it ain't funny. all because he may have to fill in for my fiance's brother if he is a no show. My brother in law was going to be one of the seaters. On the other hand, I am in a good mood. My mother said that she is going to help my nephew carry the sacraments and seat people if Ed is needed elsewhere. My sister came up with an idea that I was in tears over. my stepdad is going to walk me down the aisle and my sister thought that it would be a lovely idea to have my mother walk with him and me seeing that she is the only living biological parent I have. I asked my mom if she wouldn't mind as I thought the idea was great.
