had a good time at the fair even though a group of rude teens stood in the way of me seeing Trace Adkins. hubby enjoyed himself too. I did get glimpses of him from time to time through the wall of bodies. Man, he is more good looking in person than on tv. Got a nice posterior too! After the concert they had a place near the stage where you could buy some of his merchandise. My hubby bought me an autographed cd.

can't wait for the weekend. I am so excited! We are going on a day trip to Deerfield, MA to the Yankee Candle Factory to do a little shopping. My mother in law thinks its easier to go to the little stores they have in the malls. Yeah, its convenient but the selection isn't as good. I plan on buying 2 or three big jar candles to get me past Xmas. I love the different smells that hit you when you walk through there!

amberstar
October 5th, 2004, 05:51 AM
I love Yankee Candles!!!!!!!!

It would be dangerous to my wallet for me to go there.....I just couldn't stop a few big ones :)

Have you tried their room spray and wall plug in sents? They are not only cute with the little lamp shades, but work better than any plug in I have tried. What can I say..... I am hooked on them.
*I even have a Yankee Candle air freshner for my car* :)

Enjoy your trip BSG!

bsg1fan1975
October 5th, 2004, 11:22 AM
The problem I have with going to their factory is I can never decide which scent I really want for the fall and winter because there is so many. Spring and summer are a breeze to decide. Its kinda like when I go there they see me in the parking lot and go "Lock the doors and don't let her out of here until she has bought at least two or three candles." :rotf:  :rotf:

amberstar
October 5th, 2004, 11:59 AM
I know what you mean! It's sooo hard to decide...........I finally chose Autum Feast and Pummpkin pie for fall. I bought my standard fragrances too Home Sweet home and the Apple one .

Now it's time to decide on winter
Snow angels, Hot buttered rum, Jack frost
Citrus and amber, cranberry and pepermint............
decisions have never been so much fun!

It's official I'm a Yankee Nut ;)

bsg1fan1975
October 6th, 2004, 03:26 AM
I try to gage my decsion to what would make the house smell like the holidays. Last year I got Pumpkin Pie for fall and then for Christmas I got Balsam Fir, I think it was called.

This spring I got Hazelnut Coffee, Ocean Waters and Storm Watch. Then this summer in the local store I got Baby Powder and Lilac Blossoms and Sage and Citrus.

I guess this make me one too! Hubby like coming home and walk in to a nice smell from the candle.

(((Bsg))) It's always a really good idea to see a doctor for any ear pain that lasts more than a few days. Often you get ear infections due to throat colds. My spouse in in health care and sometimes people actually die from ear infections - left long enough they go to the brain as well. Checking them early is just the safe thing to do.

Hey Braxiss and Bsg,

Are you by any chance referring to that earth shattering THX certification logo crescendo at the lead end of many DVDs??? You should see us scrambling desperately for the receiver volume control (aloi!!! where the frack is it!!!???) before the dag nab thing shakes the plaster off the ceiling!!!

Thankfully, they have changed it on the newer DVDs...! Speaking of ceilings, how come there isn't any decibel ceiling limit on mass produced CDs and DVDs??? You put in one, and it's so quiet ya can't hear it without turning your amp/receiver up to its max. Then you plug in another (even from the same studio), and lo and behold, having forgotten you turned the darn thing up, the new one is so loud your ears ring for days and ya gotta practically turn the receiver volume off!!!

Inquiring daggits wanna know... :D

Got a call from my mom late this morning. An old friend of my late step Grandma just passed away last weekend while she was visiting her daughter. This lady was one of the nicest people we had the pleasure of knowing. My mom and I kept in touch with her after Gram died as we all belonged to a charity organization. The wake is tonight and mom knowing that I wouldn't be able to make it there said that she was going with another friend of ours and that she would give my condolences to the family for me.

Wow, your in a winter wonderland!

Just be careful we had an ice storm here a few years ago, it was a total mess.

hubby had to go into work because they didn't close down even though they knew it was coming and it was going to be bad!

I think we got about 4 or 5 inches here from this storm.

as if the snow shovel incident wasn't bad enough last week, things got worse. My hubby was working a contract job only about 30 miles from our place. He had only been working there about 3 wks. Well, last Wed. night we were walking in the mall when the guy who is his contact at the contracting company calls him to tell him that the client had emailed them and told Tony to tell my hubby not to report to work the next morning. We couldn't believe this was happening.

So up till this morning I had hubby home and driving me nuts. He's doing a week of military duty. He has already had one job interview last Friday and he's got other possibilities for a job in the works.

So this is why I was not here last Thurs and Fri.

Hubby just went back to work at his old job today and I am able to get back in here and start posting again after almost a week.

Last week about this time the puter went down and it took till Friday night to fix it! On a sadder note while the puter was down late last week I lost a dear friend of 25 years suddenly. So it was off to my parents for the wake and funeral early this week. Its been one thing after another this week and now I am ready for things to be normal again

Hi Holodoc! Hi Peter!

The black and white cat on the right is Brucey, she's a doll, and the orangish one on the left is Mimi (aka Professor Miller) - I just love him to dearth. ;)

We got them both at a shelter last December. Brucey (she was originally Doctor Bruce, till we realized he was a she, contrary to the paperwork), was so scared and messed up she hid for almost 3 weeks behind the washing machine. Now she is fully recovered and a joy to have.

Mimi is just an amazing story. I couldn't decide which to get, and someone said try him, but he didn't seem all that friendly. I took him out, and would you believe, he snuggled up to my neck and started purring and caressing me, just like he'd known me for years? Needless to say, he is my darling dear, and then some! (Wish certain people in my life were more like him, lol!)

Hope you are all having a wonderful Sunday. I will try and take some pics of the cat tunnel I made for them recently and post those too. Thanks so much for your kind replies.

All my affection,

Hi Ernie and Bsg1fan, and thank you ;)

Okay, finally got around to taking some shots of our (now infamous) cat tunnel. It was much harder than we thought in some ways (humidity under the house), and easier in others. I wanted to go thru the floor cuz all our walls are brick, which I really love but it's not the easiest substance to cut, lol. This way we could just make a little tunnel that passed thru the crawlspace vent that was already there. I lined the wood tunnel with some carpet I got for only $5, put a regular plastic lockable cat door where the vent was, and attached one of those neat 10 foot Kittywalk tunnels to the outside wall where the tunnel lets out. The cats just love it! Mimi and Brucey spend all day catching flies and trying to crouch and spring at the squirrels, pretty birds and curious lizards in the yard. I'm so glad I finally thought of something that actually worked, lol. :)

I'm actually not quite done with it yet, one of the supporting house beams is kinda in the way as you can see. I didn't carpet it yet cuz I wanna ask a contractor if we can notch the bottom of it a bit safely so my precious Mimi will fit better. (Yep, I feed him too much, the poor dear ;) ).

Anywho, here's the pics...

:muffit:

P.S... and yes, that's a child drawer saftey lock I use to hold the hatch open (hey, go with what ya know), and a bit of duct tape I used to hold the plastic cat door open till they learned to use it (which I just realized I forgot to remove before taking the picture, shoot).
