Default The first SG-1 epsiode

Hey everyone -

I was just surfing and noticed that Skiffy was showing the first hour of the Series Premiere of SG-1 when it all got started on Showtime back in 1997. I haven't seen this episode in many years. It's kind of interesting to see how the characters and the show have evolved since then!

As you were...

I know. I've got it on VHS and still watch it from time to time.

I actually took awhile to get into this series. For some reason, I couldn't connect to the first few episodes. And I wasn't a fan. It wasn't till MUCH later when someone got me into the show. But I haven't missed one since.

Stargate

I remember seeing promo pictures for it, before it came out, and thinking, "Oh great! They are going to ruin another good movie, by makeing a cheesy TV show out of it."

It was several years later, when it arrived in syndication. I didn't find it at first. It was several episodes into season 1 before I watched an episode. I caught every episode after that, and once it started to come out on DVD, I grabbed it up.

It was a little strange going back and watching the first few episodes of the series. I had started out watching the series, after they had gotten a little more comfortable with their characters, and seeing the pilot is a little strange.

Not only do the actors not really know who their characters are yet, but neither do the writers really.

It's all good though!

Why did Showtime have it in the first place?
It should always have been on Sci-Fi.

I still can't believe skiffy didn't outbid and get the Trek Next Generation and DS9 packages. Those are probably THE packages they SHOULD have!

Because Showtime wasn't crap at the time like Sci-Fi was.

Stargate was not cheap and Showtime had more money.

You should be ahppy it went to Sci-Fi at all.

To be honest.... I don't think the show has been as exciting as when it was on showtime.

Niether do I, it's gotten stale and old and they should have chanceled the show or hire new writers, but they aren't ever going to.

Battlestar Galactica 2004

I haven't seen past season 7, but for me it just keeps getting better!

I know I have a while before season 8 sees the light of day as a DVD set, but I can't wait to get my hands on it.
