Serina Art WIP
This is the current work I'm doing. Its from an idea that Tom DeSanto had regarding the return of Serina. She would be a Lightship Angel.
This drawing is still very rough. So please keep that in mind.

The little color squares are for calibrating the image. Basically I have to get the blue parts really tinted a pure blue so they will be easily removed in photoshop when I process the lines.
And here are some REALLY early roughs to work out the concept.

This one is the currrent state I'm at. WEll... almost... I took the pencil work and converted to inklines...unfortunately it didn't come out very smooth.... I will have to do a lot of finessing. Its kinda ugly line art. Also its BIG. (sorry about that)

Anyways. I hope you enjoy it sofar.

Btw, the facial features are really crude. I drew the rough expression. I will have to basically redraw those. Like how the Other drawing got reworked from cartoon art to rendered art.

OH... btw... there is a bright light that will be below her. And it will be blowing at her from below. And her hair will have many loose strands. The hair I drew are just the main river of it. Many loose strands will be drawn on top of that.

That's great Tom, the style reminds me a bit of comic book artist Josh Middleton.
Best,
Peter

Thanks guys! I really appreciate the kind words. It gives me energy and drive to shift more energies to this project.
Thanks Peter!
I just looked up Mr Middleton, and I appreciate being compared to a great artist. I still have a ways to go before I approach his level, but art is something that I'm slowly getting better at.

I've decided to add some Lightship Angels standing around her. I think they wil add a nice touch. Basically they are watching her.
I kinda figure that there is some minor conflict. She still possesses most of her human form. She wants to never forget how Apollo wants to see her. But the other angels worry about her inability to transcend above human matters.
I want to show the two conflicting sides in her. Her warmer human side, and her transcended colder angel side. So parts of her will be cold blue, but there will be a warm light showing she still clings to humanity.
I see the angels as good... but so removed from humanity there is a cold remoteness there also.

Tom -
I love your drawing skills! They always turn out so wonderful...
If I may, the angle of Serina's hand with the palm facing towards us (on the right side) - there's something about the angle of it that looks odd to me. It's probably fine, but the angle of the palm & fingers keeps pulling my eye to it.
Keep up the great work!
Bryan
P.S. - Now, I know why you wanted to know about Jane Seymour's eye color!

Thanks Bryan. Yup. I wanted to get her eyecolors right. For those who don't know, and I didn't, her right eye is brown, and the left is green.
You are right about the hand. I think its the thumbline on the palm. It;s probably off. Tom will fix.
Here is the Saudi Angels version I hinted at in another thread.
of course I have to add folds and creases and nice sparkly bits... But It looks to me like the Muslim Inquisition is after our poor Serina!
Okay... time for some feedback. Does anyone think I should alter the veil even though its canon? Or should I stay with the muslim look? I'm debating this right now. I plan to work on it more tommorrow evening.
I appreciate any advice anyone can give me. I always appreciate advice. Remember... I am an artist and a valleyboy... I say DUDE. I struggle with those handicaps every day. hehe!

Well, since you're such a good artist and an incredible tech guy for this site, we will try to forgive your handicaps...
The angels look a little creepy right now, but I think once they are finished they will look great. And Serina is coming along very nicely.

Good words. Darrell's right and if I could expand this a bit further, there are good and bad people in every society. Not all people of Arab descent or Muslim religion are bad, in fact, there are very good people who consider themselves members of that society. Just the same, all Americans are not good, either. I'm sure that each of us can think of a few bad apples in this country, without much effort.
Who knows, Tom, maybe the inspiration for the angels' robes and veils came from Muslim societies.
(Keep the angels!)

Hun, I'm from the midwest and I say dude and dudette.....what's that make me? (other than crazy )
I think it's good to go with canon and just remember that muslim veils would be more opaque so these veils wouldn't necessarily make them "muslim".

its pretty hard to pose and draw. I kinda need my hands.
But I'll check the pose when I can. Computer is flakey again. One of my drives is currently down and won't get up. If anyone is thinking about buying a Maxtor bottom line (el cheapo ) drive, I would highly advise against it.
I'm including my latest version, work will be stalled until I fix the drive or do alot of reorganizing. Unfortunately most of my programs are on that drive. And if I reinstall them at this point, I'm afraid of making a mess of the registry info.
