Hello Again
Hi all!
I know not everyone here goes to the CA. I had been away for a few months dealing with that whole reality thing. Long story short...medical problems, surgery, icky bad recovery, hated job, talked with wife, am now a stay at home dad, going back to school in fall to make my geeky hobby of breaking computers and fixing them a career. Glad to be back. Hope to post more often than is my custom around here.
Cheers
Tux

Tux -
It's nice to see you hear at Fleets as well as CA...! I hope you are recovering nicely. You got a great woman there - that she would support your decision to be a "stay at home dad" is great!
You didn't give up the theatre job, did you?
Best,
Bryan

I do not get paid for the theater. That is a community theater. It is a bunch of people who share a similar passion....HMMMM. Recovery is good. I still have a lot of shoulder pain, but I have full mobility and almost full strength. I think I will have to live with the pain. I put heat on it twice a day and am thinking about one of those living with pain seminars.
The wife is a good lady. She is also the one with a masters degree in our house. I have yet to get the whole BA or BS. Going back to school will be interesting. Been awhile since I have sat in a classroom. Least I wont have to worry about sitting behind a girl with big hair this decade. ;-)

Hello Captain Tux
Sorry to hear about your recuperation not going smoothly, I often wonder when patients go home how they fare but you seldom if ever do.
Tylenol 4 is 300mg acetaminophen with 60mg of codeine per tablet like taking 2 Tylenol 3's. Some of the more common side effects of codeine are: confusion, sedation, Hypotension (blood pressure drops) constipation, nausea, and vomiting. (Personally it makes me very dizzy and shaky if I take that much at once, but I love my codeine could not get through life without it! LOL!)
There are many kinds of pain killers out there that could be better suited to your needs the thing is that as soon as you react to something the doctor prescribes you need to complain so that they can adjust it. It might have been better to put you on an ant inflammatory (like ibuprofen) combined with a pain killer. In any case doctors get into ruts when it comes to prescribing medication, so you have to push them a little to try something more tailored to your needs. I suggest that you contact your local Cancer clinic they have the latest info on pain control with all sorts of ways to cope with long term pain they are very helpful.
One of the top hospitals here in BC uses peppermint to help patients with their pain, it involves making it as you would tea, i.e. pour boiling water over a tea bag and then BREATH in the vapors DO NOT drink (well you can but it's not going to help with the pain, lol!)
p.s. I love the idea of you being a stay at home dad very cool! I told my boyfriend when I’m done with school we are going to switch places I’ll work and he can go back to school and finally get his degree. I’d be interested to hear how you fare with school and being a stay at home dad. Lots of my fellow students are single moms and are in school full time so I know it can be done! Oh yea I’m studying nursing in case you were wondering.

I'm glad you're recovering CaptainTux. I'm also glad you have your wife to
support you so that you aren't going through this alone.

a spouse is a wonderful thing to have when you are going through difficulties. I know this is true, my hubby has leaned on me for alot of support lately and I will do the same in the future.

Yes Tux. I had those in 6/2003 when I was rearended in a car wreck.
The only thing those things did to me was to Knock me out cold. I have
no idea what the children did that day cause I wasn't awake to moniter
it ........
But since the police didn't come to my door with them in Handcuffs .....
