Does the new "Old BSG" DVD set have all scenes?
Does the new "Old BSG" DVD set have all scenes?
Does anyone here have the new "Old BSG" DVD set?
Particularly the "Saga of a Star World"....
you know the one that was released as the 1978 movie...
There are several cut scenes, that made the movie better,
are they included in the DVD?
Take care,
CaptainApollo

Excuse me?
The complete epic series DVD includes the three-hour premier/pilot (plus deleted scenes in the bonus section), which is Saga. It was from this that the two-hour theatrical release was cut.
You can also get the theatrical movie on DVD.
Does this answer your question, CaptainApollo?

Hello Dawg,
Yaa, thanks.
I bought a BSG DVD last night in the bargain-bin of Blockbuster last night.
I watched it, and I was a wee-bit disappointed.
Several scenes were missing.....
Adama drinking and depressed, talking about the people left behind,
Adama and Apollo arguing about clearing the mine-field,
Starbuck almost proposing to (whats her name?)... the one who can't act...
Apollo explaining to Boxey that the Cylons killed their Reptillian creators....

Those scenes are missing because the theatrical cut from 1978 always had them missing. The only way you can see those scenes is to buy the complete series boxed set because then you get the pilot movie as originally broadcast.

I read that there is more footage out there such as when Tigh explains to Starbuck that the colonies have been destroyed, he plays a tape of the destruction for him.

CaptainApollo, In important part of this answer, sepends on which country you are from.
We in the UK got ripped off with the BSG DVD box set. In the UK a lot of things were missing such as :
The Saga Audio Commentary.
1 Hour worth of deleted scenes.
The booklet inside the Cylon Head Special Package.
I believe there is other stuff missing as well.....
So it all depends on which country you are from...

Paul -
I think that scene only showed up in written form (the novelized version of "Saga"). Athena told Starbuck that the colonies had been destroyed after he crashed his Viper on the flight deck. If it had been filmed, I would think that it would have shown up in the multiude of the cut scenes that are included in the DVD set.
Best,
Bryan

Well,
I've got it on VHS tape.
Up here in Canada, the Space Channel (Canadian Sci-Fi Channel) played the complete scenes.
I taped 'em last year.
They were filmed, and I'm watching them right now.

Everything that Universal/s home video crew could find (with the assistance of at least one fan, Chris Pappas) was included in the DVD Box Set (I think even the shot of a viper destroyed just outside the G's landing bay (Zac, alternate death scene) is in the DVD set somewhere. It's not spoken of as Zac's viper but it sure looked like the one I've heard described that was never broadcast.
Even the Cassie/Starbuck scene in the launch tube is in the documentary "remembering" Galactica.

If the DVD set represented everything Universal could find, then are we to assume the blooper reel that's made the rounds among collectors the last few years wasn't in the vault any longer?

The fact is, six hours of footage were shot for Saga and it was cut down to the movie we all know. Now, most of that was probably pure drivel and totally unusable. BUT, what about all the scenes with Jane Seymour? They did include some with the DVD set, but was that all there was to her cancer storyline?
There has to be more somewhere...

Funny you should mention that Jewels. If one watches the Living Legend it looks like there is a viper shooting at the Pegasus. In actuallity it is Zac's viper from Saga. The footage must have been deleted because I watched Saga and never saw it.

None of that footage was in the DVD set, which is why I asked my question about whether it was still in the Universal vaults, if in fact the DVD released every scrap of footage that could be found in the Universal vaults.

What about the 'We Gotta Find Earth' song ? I know that that is in the Blooper Reel, but that should also have been included ?
I have a sneaky suspicsion that Universal may 'find' many of these things for a further anniversary release ?
