What would you like to see changed between the mini and the new series?
What really annoyed you or did you simply not like in the mini that you would like to see changed in the new series?
Many will say "make Starbuck a man again". I don't think that's gonna happen. The medtechs onboard don't know how to perform that operation.
I hope they change Apollo's hair. What is it with that duckbill that ran into a wall look, anyway?

Too many actors and subplots to follow. I would eliminate Roslin's secretary (not exactly the manly type we need in a war zone anyway) and the Duella character. I would love to see those two sneaking off to a launch tube to fool around only to catch a cylon Boomer or Boxey doing something evil and then getting whacked for their troubles. Do it on episode 1 and avoid their salaries or we can give them the BSG80 treatment and pretend they were never there!

Dualla is much too fine a piece of eye-candy to kill off so soon.

I would try to recapture the "lost art" of sexual attraction. Today (especially in the new BSG, and most tv) it seems like some one just grabs and kisses, then starts ripping at the person's clothes. The magic of attraction is in the looks, the subtle gestures that we all instinctively know means something.
I recently watched "Lost in Translation" and that movie showed a deep and caring love affair between two people without ever getting into the down and dirty sex. There are so many levels to the building of relationships and attraction, but today's writers just seem to get to the physical aspects as though that was all it was about.

Also... I would work in more mechanical Cylons. Get rid of the expensive CGI and develop a good looking "man-in-suit" design so it could affordably be used. I wouldn't mind the human Cylons as a superior ruling class, but one of the coolest things from the original was this army of killer robots. When it comes to science fiction robot looking robot enemies are just cooler than the human looking robots. To me the human robots just come off as a budget restriction concept.
In all honesty though, the miniseries bored the living crap out of me, and even with these changes it would take alot more to get me interested.

David I agree I would rather not see the CGI's they really look too two dimensional and therefore not real, man in suit works for me.
and I too would appreciate bringing back the lost art of sexual attraction! much more fun!

Keep the large cast. It worked for LA Law, ER and other show with large cast. It allow for story drive episodes.
Tone down the sex. I love what they are trying to do with Baltar and #6 but she does not have to be all over him (literally).
Add more sound to the space battles (we know the rules about sound in space but come on, we can take a little more and still believe in it).
I am not very happy with the CGI Cylon. They should build a mechanical mode l(usually from the waist up) and use it for close up interaction.
Change the attitude of Starbuck. Inject more comradery and friendship. Be tough but not overbearing. "Respective" but willing to challenge.
Seem everyone complains about Tigh. They should show that his flaw are from recent events (recently divorce, decommission of Galactica and not getting a promotion {being force to retire}) and that he was not a bad officer.
As you can see, nothing here would be dramic but worth looking at.

I for one am missing the whole backstory between Serina, Apollo and Boxey. I know you guys are like "What?" That was hella dramatic! Apollo falls in love with this survivor and adopts her son, and she goes and gets killed and has to take care of Boxey... That was a good storyline. They could have easily incorporated it and even added onto it without touching the daggit concept. If it wasn't for the fact that this is Ron Moore we're talking about, and I trust that he won't do this, I'd be afraid he'd turn the current Boxey into the next Wesley Crusher. BAD BAD BAD!!!
I could go on and on about how they could do The Living Legend, we all know its coming, and everyone has voiced every opinion possible about how that could be played out. I'm interested in seeing exactly what RDM will come up with, cause you know its not going to be ANY of that. Let's just hope it doesn't suck and they decide to leave out Sheba, or even worse, make her a man... or make Cain a woman and have her be Adama's love interest... (Are you listening PTB? I came up with this idea and it was voiced to everyone, so you CAN'T use it. Just because I say its stupid, don't do it anyways. Everyone will hate you.)
Another story I'd REALLY like to see them visit is "The Man with Nine Lives." Do it with Dirk Benedict as Starbuck's father. I know everyone wants him to play that role, so it probably won't happen (especially now that Hatch suggested it, nobody does what he says) but it sure would be cool to see.
Didn't RDM say he was looking at War of the Gods too? That would be cool. He could make Iblis a woman and that would actually make sense. j/k

Bring in more mechanical Cylons, the Imperious Leader (that's a must have), Cassie....though without a male Starbuck, what's the point...maybe making her Starbucks mom or something might work. Put some good ol' beam weapons back on the damn Vipers...what's a viper without lasers anyways? Jees. Less disfunction between Adama and Apollo, better exterior space special effects shots, less sex and more story line instead....we all know what sex is, how about telling us a story instead of wasting our time covering stuff we learned in junior high school, the score will have to change I think. It'll be dated in just a few years. Drums and percussion is just the lastest fad in alot of current sci fi stuff right now, I'd like to see some flash back type stories...more stuff about what happened in the past....what lead up to the attack, during the attack, stuff about what was happening on any of the other 120 Battlestars...maybe have some blow up on screen this time.

Hey Westy
I think less dysfunction between Apollo and the Commander is coming there was a suggestion of this towards the end, especially now that Starbuck is taking the blame for Zack’s death.
“Better exterior special effects shots” I agree! I hate all the jerkiness of the cameras when I’m watching the dog fights, it might be “realistic” since the camera angles are supposed to look like they are coming from a mounted camera on the viper but it makes it really difficult sometimes to figure out what’s going on. Too much very close up action I can’t get a perspective on what is happening we are either too close or too far away. Was it clear to every one else that Kara wasn’t in the fight anymore (as in she was not in offensive mode anymore but in defensive) after Lee’s viper was badly damaged that she was just circling around him protecting his viper while he was trying to get back to the Galactica? I had to watch that over and over again in slow motion to figure that out (or maybe I’m just slow that way).
I liked the “sex” scene between Tyrol and Boomer that was fun, but not the Cylon/ Baltar scenes it’s too much for this genre.
I liked the drums they were new to me (don’t get around much anymore, mister Saturday…I digress)
Flash backs would be good, but I doubt that we’ll get it too expensive they you would have to flesh out a modern Battlestar which they would have to build all the models and sets for, or they would have to flesh out buildings/society etc I don’t think we have that many futuristic looking areas here (Vancouver) except for the one they showed (Simon Fraser University campus, which you see at the beginning just before the Cylon suffocates the baby) unless they kept it very simple and only had a moment taking place in a small room? I don’t know anything about how they do this so I’ll just shut up now.
I did like the close up of the pilot’s faces.

I hope to see more action in the series(with music) and less soap opera. I honestly enjoyed the show but I missed the style and look of the old show. I felt that all the female characters were similar to those in various star trek series. I missed the class of Athena and the vunerablity of Cassiopia. And I gotta say even though I did like the character of the "new" Starbuck, I sure missed the old one.

What would I like to see? Well, I've written about a quarter of a million words on the subject (and no, I'm not exagerating) so I'll keep this brief.
1) I want to know what's behind Lee and Kara - friendship? more? anything?
2) I want Lee and his father to reconcile (for real - not just able to stay in the room without yelling)
3) I want to know what the hell Kara has against Tigh - because it must be big
4) I want to know how the deck gang is going to survive losing so many - both logistically (fixing stuff) and emotionally
5) I want Baltar sent to the loony bin so Six will go away
6) I want there to be a mistake and Boomer NOT be Cylon - Tyrol deserves better
That's the majority of it...my needs are small (I'm just wordy).

kat,
Please forgive me in being remiss in welcoming you to the Fleets.
So, without further adieu,
WELCOME TO COLONIAL FLEETS!!
Regarding your question about the production, according to reports on the web, filming is due to start on April 12. As the date gets closer, the Sci-Fi network will undoubtedly make an official announcement.
