Microsoft warns of Windows flaw

Critical flaw in the latest Windows programs could allow hackers to run malicious programs on PCs.
February 10, 2004: 3:38 PM EST

SEATTLE (Reuters) - Microsoft Corp. said Tuesday a critical flaw in the latest versions of its flagship Windows operating system could allow attackers to run malicious programs on personal computers.

In its monthly security bulletin, the world's largest software maker warned that Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 were at risk and offered software updates to fix the flaws, which were given Microsoft's highest severity rating of "critical."

Hi FA! Thanks for the heads up.

Kinda funny, I get this kinda message about once a week from MS. Seems as fast as they close the loopholes some character finds a new one to exploit. Glad I got a firewall.

All OS'es have security flaws. Out of the box, Mac is considered to be the most secure OS (all the extras are turned off). Let's face it, Patching is simply a fact of life - bugs happen. People just have to keep it with any security updates and install the patch/fix ASAP. Just use what you are happy with or simply stay off the net.

I use Debian on one of my boxes and here's a link to see some Debian Linux security fixes so far for 2004:
