Cool Take the Lime and the Coconut...

Hi all!

Well, just got my bill for last month's hospital "social calls" . Eeks! And I thought the symptoms leading /to/ the visits were bad! Think my bank account is going into arrest... clear!

Too bad I can't just "take a lime and a coconut and drink 'em bote' up"
Those are 2 ingredients that won't squeeze the juices out of my pocket book! LOL!

Where's a good Shaman when you need one - I could handle paying him/her with a chicken or two... maybe my neighbor's dog that won't stop barking... ROTFL!

I know what you mean muffit! I have been having agnoizing headaches, so the good old doc. sent me for a c scan. A whooping $680 for a test that took only a few minutes. To find out that it was a sinus problem. ( I could have told them that)!
Highway Robbery!!!!!!

Serriously I do hope you are feeling better

Thanks Amber! Our new insurance is yucky. They say, yes it's covered before you go in, then you get the bill and it isn't. That's why I'll crawl to the hospital before I take another ambulance - $1800 to go 2 miles away! I could rent a Ferrari for that!

Hey, that's not a bad idea - I could start an ambulance service in Hollywood that only uses Ferraris and Lamborghinis - people will call for help just to get a ride!!!

"Help! 911! I have a splinter in my finger! Send an ambulance right away! Make it the black Countach...

ouch Muffit! I know how crazy these stupid hospitals are for billing you for an outpatient of emergency room visit. Kev is still getting notices from the hospital he had to stay in overnight in October for a fluke chest pain. This happened when he was on a drill weekend for the reserves. The government is responsible for the bill. I hate to see what the hospital bill will be for me when we start having kids.

Hi Bsg! Thanks for you reply! About having kids, got some experience there. My daughter cost $15,000 (mainly because it was a C Section - she was 10 lbs, yikes). Would you believe almost $10,000 was for the nursery? And they didn't do anything - just stuck her in a clear plastic bin and let her and a bunch of others cry away. Luckily our insurance paid most of it (eventually).

Funny thing, the bill I got says even though they billed the insurance, I gotta pay up front. In only 1 week. In a way I understand, cuz my insurance takes 3 months to answer. But whats the point in having insurance if I still gotta pay the whole amount? Eeks, next time I'll just take 4 aspirin and tough it out...

Hi Don! Yep, those 10 lbs. sure surprised us. Too many mushies LOL! My daughter's labor was fairly long - 19 hours (5:00AM to midnight). They finally gave up and said there's no way this baby's gonna fit! Shoot, I coulda told 'em that!

Same thing happened to me 2 yrs ago when my left foot was operated on. Stupid insurance company said the entire operation would be covered. Yeah Right! Seeing the first one failed because my bones were too weak at the original deadline for me to be walking on it so back in I went for another round! Between both surgeries the total bill was over 3 grand! I'm still paying it off! The insurance only covered the pre-op and medications they knocked me out with!

Insurance company's are only good when you don't use them. It's kind of like when you call them for the first time after faithfully paying premiums year in and year out they sound utterly speechless that you would have the balls to file on them. Since you already have 30,000.00 dollars of mine could i get a weeeeeeee bit back!

Sure! No problem sir but afterwards were canceling you.

Oh my god! to Canadian ears this is very scary to hear , an ambulance ride here (BC) is 75 dollars, and except for paying 40 dollars a month for provincial medical coverage, some provinces like Quebec everything is free. How do you survive how does anyone afford having kids 15 thousand dollars for a c-section !

bsg how much does it cost to have a midwife and doula and deliver at home? I'm training to be a doula right now and hope to have mine at home, In BC midwives are also covered by medical.
