Default so will this become a regular series?

so ... first of all ... I really liked the original ... and I really liked this version of BG ... I loved all the characters especially how realistic it all seemed. I think the documentary-view style worked well ... maybe it is the result of watching too much of the imbedded reporters in Iraq ... At least I could feel the horror in having to abandon tens of thousands of people to die for the sake of all the others ...

So I guess my real question is this. Is this going to become a regular series?

Thanks

Frank

I would LOVE to see this become a regular series. Or perhaps a regular miniseries, something that would air every 6 months. That would be very cool. Seems to me the stories & effects would maintain their quality plus it would probably be more affordable than a regular weekly series. Though Moore did a great job with the war arc on DS9 with very little bottled FX and it was weekly. I just don't think SciFi can afford it. Maybe UPN, FOX or even Spike could though.

Though it's still to early for an official anouncment, all indications are that is the case.

I hope they do fix some of the faults though. Starbuck cannot be female! Costumes not "borrowed" from Babylon 5

I agree with The Rain. A 4 hour 2 part mini-series once or twice a year or even quarterly showings. The story and production values would be a lot better in a movie format. If one remembers, TOS episodes often suffered from trying to meet the weekly story deadlines and the special effects were just recycled scenes.

2 hours every other week would be the best way to do it (and they can encore the last episode in the interim week

Does anyone know what they are waiting for? Only 4 more business days until Christmas. I was hoping they would make announcement so the everyone and especially super nice guy Aaron would know before Christmas.

who knows maybe the want to wait till the last possible second...

If it did switch networks to Upn(i'm not sure about the other two...) one of the following would prbably happen:

A. Upn would probably drop it after a year(or two) because of costs...

or

B. It would fail to garner enough viewers who actually HAVE Upn... and people would just watch it on the fox runs or (unfortuanatly or fortunatly... depending on ur pov) just dl it off any # of online file sharers (ie mule, Mirc, BT...) and thus have fans... just it doesn't show up on the radar of the rating the channels do for viewers/fans...

Anyway I thought I'd mention what I thought when I read that....

other thoughts: If you could rate popularity by going by how many ppl dl various tv shows off the web.... there'd be a completely different line up on the television... at least thats just my pov

please don't yell at me about dling is wrong... I haven't dled anything since btvs ended.... ive been a good girl since then!

Thanks Sci-Fi. I like people who agree with me!

Wouldn't it be cool if a bi-annual Galactica mini set a new standard and precedent for quality sci-fi? Quality over quantity is always better for me. And boy, what a way to always "leave 'em wanting more". It's the concept that, way back when, originally brought sci-fi serial fans back to the theater for new installments of Flash Gordon. It could be huge. It could be EPIC!

Default Quartely mini would be cool

I feel that weekly constraints on scriptwriting tends to weaken the scripts.

Spending extra time in writing and production should yield a better product.

It might avoid the planet of the week kinds of stories.

I would love to see a rotation of shows, like maybe one week a time slot would be the new BSG,another week maybe some new Farscape. It really doesn't matter what the shows would be,just some rotation to mix it up,and give teams time to make better shows.

YES! Darth, that would be too bitchin'. I love 'Scape. After 30+ years of being a Trek fan, I discovered something I liked better.
OK, so we alternate monthly between several mini-series... Galactica - Farscape - Firefly - Dragon Riders of Pern (I really wanted to see that) - and maybe a new Logan's Run.
Suggestions?

Default Logan's Run

Oh yea.
I loved the books (I only know of 3,did Nolan write any more).

Man,the movie and tv show suck-diddly-ucked.

A version of Logan's Run more true to the book WOULD be cool.

There's the original Logan's Run book and 3 sequel books I think. The original movie was good but not very faithful to the book. A more faithful mini would be great. Add 3 more minis, one for each book, and call it a wrap.

There are a ton of Pern books though. I've only read "Dragon's Dawn" which to me seems to be a great place to start. Even though it wasn't the first book written.

Default One puzzling thing

Since the RMD script was leaked months in advance of it airing, why do we not have scripts leaked for even one episode of a miniverse series?

because they haven't decided officially whether or not to make it into a series. We'll most likely find out by the 31st due to certain contracts whether or not they will... I'm guessing while it is an option they weren't near enough positive to go ahead and write scripts... there probably are outlines for possibilities tho

Many of the story concepts for a series have already been developed, at least according to Ronald D. Moore.

And note that most cable series (as BSG will follow as well) are half the number of episodes of a network series. So, I would expect 13 BSG episodes per season.

So, what about the story that they're going to try to do it very, very cheaply this year to stay within their program budget?

so would I! It'd be my dream come true! FArscape, Stargate and BSG03 on the same channel.... but I am doubtful of the Farscape thing even tho the FS mini series is currently filming/production I seriously doubt it'll go to Sci-fi...
