Galactica 2003 Gallery plans
I got a VERY clean recording of the show and a good frame capture.
Are there any images people want to see?

Some of the close up shots of the Mark II Viper firing its guns would be nice......

Kara Thrace's Viper interlocked with Apollo's, pushing it back toward the Galactica's landing bay.

And a good shot of the Ragnor station ( I think that was the name), the station they docked at to refuel and reload. That was a cool looking space station. Maybe a shot of it with the Galactica in the foreground for scale, or when it docked along side it.

Lockhart is cute as heck, but boy she cries alot. I don't know if I could handle being around her after the first night, if you get my drift. And I think you do.

I'm doing as best I can. But I'm learning there is ALOT of blur done on the space shots. Remember, they constantly moved the camera which blurs the image. Plus its very darkly lit. Still, I got a lot of images. Not as good as of the original show. But for now it wil be a nice little extra.

Call me a hopeless romantic (and I am), but I would love any pics of the Tyrol/Boomer reunion. Especially ones where that lovely man looks deep into her eyes & puts his hand to her face... SIGH... Grace Park is a lucky gal, I'd trade places with her any day!

They used the darkness and the blur to hide the fact that they didn't have the budget for extended special effects. I think that with today's technology, they could do absolute magic with minitures. There is no subsitute for a well crafted model. Screw the 100% CG images. Give me a blue screen with a mini viper model anyday. I'll give you an example:
Alien
I recently saw the re-release of it to the theaters, and after 25 years, the space shots still work. you know why? Because they used hand painted matte paintings, and well crafted minitures. Now look at the last starfighter. That was the first film (besides tron) to use extended CG work. At the time, it looked great. Now, it's a dated piece of poo. After years of upgrades, any CG work looks dated, but good blue screen, matte painting, and minitures stand the test of time...

I went to go see "Alien" for the re-release as well. I was absolutley amazed how well the SFX held up for being 25 years old! They really did cobble together some amazing stuff considering what they had to work with. There are some films being released these days where the CG stuff is almost as obvious as a crappy model or some really bad blue screen work. I don't care if it comes out of a computer, there are still some that try and do it on the cheap and it looks it for all their efforts.
Regards,
Bryan

Pics of Ships
I would like a good and big pic of the Galactica and the Fleet that they showed right after the battle at the Ragnar station in part II. It's the shot where you also hear the Female priest chanting as well and they say...So say we all a bit later.

A close-up of Col. Tigh's bruise.Wasn't there a scene of him with a bottle in his hand?
I see many have beaten me to the request for gratuitous T & A shots.
Kara did seem kind of butch, but that wouldn't stop me.

I beg to differ. With today's computer technology and time you *can* make cgi look even more real than a physical model. Most FX today is based on cutting corners. Images maps have been the main stay in computer graphics since i began cgi. But you can make kitbashed cgi ships and the details that are on a physical model can be replicated in the cg enviroment. But it takes time time time and a whole lot of patients. Don't get me wrong, filiming actual miniatures is still an excellant way to go but very costly and even more time consuming than cgi. If you give me a budget, time and detail level you want to achieve in the end i doubt you'd be able to tell the difference from physical and cg.
