Colonial Viper Appreciation Thread
It is a grand ship and the workhorse of the Colonial Fleet. Without it a Battlestar is doomed.

It's a beautiful Machine. I think that even the
fighters on Star wars the "TRILOGY" could "learn"
from these vipers!

The best launching fighter ever!

I don't think that there was ever an exciting launch sequence as on Galactica.
I also have to agree... the Galactica was a one of a kind ship. Not only was she a powerful strong ship, she also heralded the salvation of a people. So she was symbolic of both strength and hope.
She was alone, her siblings lost...but through the most dangerous places she guided and protected the devastated and desperate survivors of a once great civilization.
She was a damn good ship.

British FX maestro Derek Meddings had good launch sequences for all the Thunderbirds, Thunderbird 2's being a highlight.

Another great design, a true classic...that does not need "re-imagining".

Born to dance among the stars!
The vipor is an excellent design of an element of war, but also serves a protector.
Without the vipor and the able pilots the Galatica would have been lost. Don't get me wrong - the Galatica is a great impressive ship. The vipor is just can maneuver faster and better against attacking cylon raiders.
Vipors are a perfect compliment to the Galatica!!

The Viper was a simple looking ship, had influences of modern fighters (of the time at least)
And it's the only SciFi ship ever to have afterburners!!1 Not scientificly sound, but outstanding!

Can you believe we came so close to not having afterburners because the effect was such a pain the ass. Like guys in chrome suits with a roving red eye the Viper afterburn is iconic to Battlestar.
Another point inspired by the Viper....modern Trek always bothered me with everyship flown by keyboard, give me a "joystick" baby!

well, as much as the keyboard ships bothered me too, you never saw a Control stick on the Falcon either. Or in X-Wings. The Control stick was a definate advantage
