Default Richard Hatch on "Star Dates"

Man, I haven't seen any of these episodes that have helped an actor. Most of the time, they have losers like Gary Coleman, Leif Garrett, and J.J. Walker.

Looks like Richard Hatch is trying his luck here. Good luck to him...

Why do I have the feeling that if I went up to a woman and said, "I love sex, I love being oral," I would be either slapped in the face or put in jail. And you can bet I won't start talking about "being oral" in jail.

http://www.eonline.com/On/StarDates/Profiles/hatch.html

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I had the impression it was better to be forgotten than to be on a show like this. A "Where Are They Now" show seems miles above a show like this.

Dang. Not sure what to make of this.

I saw this program once. The "star" was Rerun from 'What's Happening?' He was preaching the gospel while putting the moves on his date. Basically, it was too sad for words.

I think most of the time, the stars come across as looking bad since the non-stars are more concerned with being on television than finding true love. Still, if Richard gets "lucky" and comes across like "he's still got it" then it might be a boost to his career. I guess there is no such thing as bad publicity in Hollywood.

In my opinion, Richard needs to focus on his production company instead of wasting his time on this type of programming.

Rgrant .................First of all ...........I wouldn't go
out with anyone who said that PERIOD .....NOT EVEN
Richard Hatch.

Second I was only meant when I said I was married but
not dead that he's not that bad looking.

After "PREVIEWING" the episode .........with the links
provided ..........I certainly won't be watching it.

NO offense meant Richard.

Default miss him on dramas

I wish Richard would go back to making guest appearances on hour-long dramas, rather than doing these demeaning half-hour cable desperation programs. Even when he played bad guys I enjoyed watching him, and he's not made a guest appearance in years. I don't know if he's actually trying out for roles, and not getting hired, or if he's just not bothering to try anymore.

Default could tolerate only five minutes

Well, I had always thought I could sit through anything that Richard did. But I could watch only five minutes of "Star Dates," and was snorting with laughter so hard I was starting to cough. I gave up watching the program before I choked.
Richard, how could you?

I've watched two other episodes of this show. One with Gary Coleman and one with Butch Patrick (Eddie Munster.) Believe it or not, compared to those two episodes this one had Richard coming off pretty good. When I first heard he was going to be on it, I figured it would be edited in such a way to accentuate all of his quirks and make him look really bad, like Sciography. I was already anticipating all the clone jokes about it on the Sci-Fi board. So bad as it might have seemed, it could have been a lot worse.

I'm glad I didn't watch it I agree with Mary that he's much
better on those drama's that he sometimes guest stars on.

I dunno. The only guest appearance I recall is where Richard played a villain on some early 90's cop show. If memory serves, it was a series starring Barry Van Dyke (and didn't last long).

You know...Barry Van Dyke of "Galactica 1980" fame. The same Barry Van Dyke that starred in the dreaded 4th season of "Airwolf." <shudder>

Default How low can you go?

I got wind of this a couple of days ago and I HAD to watch this!!! I can't tell you how low Richard had to go to do this!!

To tell you the truth, it was extremely embarrassing. During the dinner portion of the date, he began asking the woman about sex and other stuff very personal. I hate to say this, but he came across as a sex-pervert or something. The women then stated that they were surprised and embarrassed that he asked them those things, but that did not stop them from smooching with him at the end of their respective dates.

I wish I had known about this before last Saturday when I talked with Richard at the toy show in Raleigh. I would have ragged him about it to no end!!!!

You reminded me of a party I went to in graduate school. The hosts thought it would help break the ice if everyone wore name tags, it didn't work out the way they planned. On one couple the man's tag was "oral fixation" and his date had "grateful".

I agree with AO: I took the whole thing with a grain of salt because the network after all is E! and I had seen the JJ Walker and Tiffany episodes which were flat to say the least.

I figured the editing would play anything titilating up to the hilt so I didn't have high expectations. I missed the first 4 or 5 minutes of the date with the blonde. Actually I thought Richard mostly came off well: that it was a lark, that he was playing to the silliness of the show format while still giving the ladies a real date. (Of course he said things that made me blush--I am the resident Victorian, after all!) But the thing I noticed, all the stuff we didn't see left those ladies feeling very comfortable with him and wanting more time with the guy. (and if you think about it it was probably a couple hours of date cut down to 10-15 min. airtime) I think he came across confident and still a contender.

It did make me very glad that I'm a married woman and don't have to deal with all the stress and pressure (and temptations) of dating. Hats off to those of you still seeking your soulmates.

Default Richard did OK

Having known Richard for 5 or 6 years, where I see him at a couple of conventions a year and have spent a bit of time with him and gotten to know him a little bit, I have this to say about his appearance on "Star Dates". For the most part what was shown is the Richard I know. Richard is not afraid to be blunt about many things, so his uninhibited remarks about sex are not that unexpected, (although editing out of context may also have a part in this too). The thumb wrestling is definitely Richard being his playful self. One thing I have no previous knowledge of is the kissy stuff, I've never seen Richard chasing after anyone and assume that in his private sexual matters he is normally quite discrete.

DANG I MISSED IT!

ahhhh!

I need to read my own forum more!!!!!!!

KICK ME! KICK ME!

ah..... I was going to put a big old advertisement up to get everyone to watch this. BUt I mentioned that to Richard Hatch and he said "NONONOnonoo! I don't know if I WANT people to know!" He hadn't seen what they were going to show.

I didn't see that one...but I have seen like 3 or 4 of these. The women stars come out 5 times better than the men!

description of the dates........and stars.

Howard Stern should try to get both Richard & Dirk on his radio/E! show. I'm sure "the king of all media" would have a great time talking with them.

Well my curiosity was too great and I taped the episode to watch later. I don't think he came off bad at all, a bit forward with all the sex talk but whatever. I do think it put BG in a good light. When they showed his picture as Capt. Apollo to both of the women they immediately recognized and named the show and said they used to be fans. They did a lot of corny connections with footage from BG to what was going on during the dates. I don't think I will be watching that show again but it was worth it this once.
