Default The Time To Strike Is Now! Everyone Please Read

“We must take that base! We must take Gomoray!” – Commander Cain

This is it. We have an opportunity here to strike against those who would say that we are insignificant, that we do not exist. We have a chance here to make a real difference, to make history in fandom. I’m hoping everyone will do this. Even if you have never before sent a letter, even if you have never sent a single e-mail, I implore you to do this now. This could very well be our best and last hope for victory. End of speech.

The Plan:

Purchase the following three items:

1) A package of popcorn.
2) Any X-Men 2 merchandise.
3) Print out one of the Edward James Olmos articles that were published last week (the links of which I will provide below).

Put these three items into a package (it should fit into one of those cardboard envelopes) and on the 17th of July, overnight the package via FedEx, UPS, or USPS to Comic Con at:

To Members of the Press covering the Battlestar Galactica Panel c/o
San Diego Convention Center
111 W. Harbor Drive, Room 6B
San Diego, CA, 92101

It is very important that you overnight the package on the 17th of July, this coming Thursday. Understand that this package must arrive at Comic-Con by July 18th, 12:00 p.m. Noon. And it would be most effective if it arrived on the 18th as opposed to earlier, which is the reason for the overnight packaging. Not to mention the added benefit of having the packages personally delivered.

Make certain you address it to the Press, NOT to the Hammer/Eick/Moore hydra. They will only simply try to brush it under the rug, the Press will hopefully report on it. Do not include any personal letters, only the printed article. This way they will not be able to spin any of our words.

If you can, track your package. Whether or not it has been delivered, who signed for it etc. If they block the delivery of the packages, return to sender, or sign for it and keep it away from the press, save the information. It is a Federal Crime to interfere with U.S. Mail. We can then inform the press of that as well.

From today, you have four days to acquire the contents of the package and complete this mission. We have a chance to do something real spectacular here, let’s not loose it.

Please copy and paste this post into as many forums as you can. Spread the word.

I'm on board, well worth the overnight fees.

We have some great writers who post here perhaps someone can put together a short note about Moore's pop-corn letter and the DeSanto project. In the note prompt the press to ask...

Hey Ron what is this pop-corn remark about?

Why did'nt Sci-Fi try and salvege the DeSanto version that fans wanted?

Some crap like that...I agree now is the best time to get something done. We have not been in a good position like this in months!

Ideas:
Attach a copy of moore's intro letter on scifi.com to the popcorn.

Attach Scooter's Desanto story from Cylon.org to the X2 merchandise.

Hitting the Entertainment Editors of the main San Diego & LA papers the day before (17th) might be more effective: Then they will send a reporter armed with questions. Otherwise there are no guarantees there will be any press in that room or that FedEx will be able to deliver it to anyone from the press. The word got out once all ready: news has to be "new" to be published.

And there does have to be a letter--very brief & objective.

back to you on that later.

I called Comic Con in Sand Diego. There will be press present.

I still believe it will be more effective for them to be receiving packages right before their eyes. To make a spectacle out of the situation for all to see. The idea here is not necesarily to send information. It's to create a spectacle that in and of itself is an event to be reported on.

If we were dealing with simple snail mail there wouldalot of douvbt as to whether the packages would be received by anyone. But by overnighting them, they will be hand delivered.

Lightbulb Here's A Thought

When the TOS DVD sets come out we should send them the proof of purchase. When they are swamped then they can't say there aren't any TOS BG fans out there. Just a thought. As far as DeSanto goes there is a rumor of X-Men 2 coming out on DVD in September. I would suggest sending the proof of purchase from the DVD to Bonnie as a message: DeSanto was the man to give us a GREAT BG CONTINUATION. These are just ruminations.

That's a good thought Kingfish.

But we won't be able to do that here.

The DVD doesn't come out until October.

We have 4 days to mobilize and get this together.

Since the comic con said there would be press--ignore that comment of mine.

This is going to be interesting.

In our introduction letters can we include an invitation for them to attend Richard Hatch's discussion so they can get the full story? And possibly even see the Second Coming trailer and the reaction that comes from it?

It looks like I picked a good time to come on board....

JJ - it odd that you should use that quote from "Living Legend", that's what I was watching just prior to reading this post!

I like the "mail to the press" barrage campaign - it should make the con interesting, especially with the press present. I will gladly do my part - I only wish that I could be there for the fun in person... This is one of the most scathingly brilliant ideas I've ever seen!

All the best,
Bryan

Thanks Gemini

As Kingfish noted:

Unofrtunately a year ago I decided to sell my complete collection of VHS movies as I saw the inevitable overtake of the DVD looming near. And I wanted to get rid of them all before they were worth nothing. Unfortunately that included all of episodes of BSG as well. So I was a little rusty on my dialogue. But I felt that a quote from Cain from that episode was very appropriate for the opporunity we have here. I really can't wait for that DVD set.

Glad you on board. No pun intended.

I have all of the episodes that Universal released on VHS including Mission:Galactica:The Cylon Attack. I even taped the week long marathon. I would never sell my Galactica VHS collection. It is priceless. True they are coming out with the DVD but I don't mind having both. Knowing me I will probably buy both sets, the VHS and DVDs.

Cain's quotes:

Adama's Quarters

Cain: Fuel tankers? What are you talking about Adama? I have had them on their knees with one Battlestar with two I can finish them.

Adama: In case you haven't noticed I have 220 ships which make perfect targets for Cylon gunners.

Cain:We can finish them on Gamorray.

Adama: A military victory is out of the question.
==============================================

Galactica War Room.

Cain:We must take that base.

Adama: That is one opinion Commander however it isn't mine. Colonel Tigh proceed with the fuel dispersement.

Cain: I can't allow you to do that. I think surviving two Yahren out here without you gives me the right to decide the destiny of the Pegasus.

Adama: Like you decided the fate of two Cylon tankers? Commander you are relieved of command.

Default XMen proof of purchase

Hi folks,

Why not use your proof of purchase from the ORIGINAL X-Men movie, and the Original BSG movie?

One more suggestion: Print the summary page at least of the petition for the original cast.

I don't think any of the packages got through. I e-mailed my tracking number to a reporter in San Diego who reported on the Olmos outburst to have him pick it up, and urged others to do the same but don't know if he ever did.
