Angry DROP EVERYTHING AND READ, (please)!!

AND YOU WILL NOT BE HAPPY!

http://custom.marketwatch.com/custom...}&alias=/ht/nw

Personally, I would love to know how many damned CLONES make up her "every single group". (see 3rd paragraph after Balance found? sub-header).

Methinks this forum's going to be runnin' HOT, today!!

Yes, they may have conducted a test. Make that ONE test among a small group actually consisting of "Milton James'" group of RDM fans, which actually consisted of two or three people and a bunch of clones they created to make it look like there was a ground swell of support for the reimagining. Thanks to Sandy and the others who have exposed this mess.

Also, her statement may explain why they didn't do a real poll or survey of the fans. They knew they wouldn't be able to tell a bald-face lie as well as they could tell the one they told here!

Is there an address to contact marketwatch and let them know about this? A letters department?

I just checked www.cbsmarketwatch.com and there is a "discussion board" that apparently one can participate in after becoming a member. Sorry for the sketchy details, gotta go. (Having a family night out! Been so damn few and far between lately, I almost don't know how to act )

I hope to be back in touch late tonight.

OK now I'm PISSED

Where in Hades does Bonnie Hammer get off saying the following ( and I quote ):

"When we tested the segmentation study, every single group ... all said that they were interested in it," Hammer said. "They'd love to see it reinvented, reimagined."

What the FRACK??!!!

What study? Where? Every single group??? Listen Bonnie....
you come by to visit this site and read the postings? You visit Battlestar Galactica.com, Battlestar Fan Club.com, Battlestar Galactica Club AND SO ON AND SO FORTH????????

NO!!!

In the year 2003, this whole thing isn't about preserving the essence of what grabbed the viewers of Battlestar Galactica back in 1978. This is about MONEY.

What I find completely outrageous in this interview is this following statement re the cancellation of "Farscape":

"Our entire team loved, loved, loved the series. It helped launch us into the original fiction world," she said. "But it became too 'in.' Even the fans started turning away because it became too hard to understand. It was brilliantly written, for the most part, it was amazingly well produced, but it became such an in-joke, if you will, that people couldn't follow it any more."

Farscape became to "IN"?????? What the Frack do you call making Starbuck a woman?????

You're doing exactly to Battlestar Galactica what you've just denounced about Farscape! That it's too "IN".

My only consolation in all of this is that I don't get the SCIFI channel and won't have to be subjected to this crap.

Bonnie Hammer has no imagination and no conceptual understanding of what made TOS harvest fans 25 years after it's first airing....and never will.

Starbuck has BALLS, Starbuck has a sense of humor, Starbuck smokes Fumarillos and Starbuck kicks ass. Something that Katee Sackhoff will never do believably in this mini catastrophe.

Tracy

PS. Just to add my contribution to the list that Bonnie Hammer seems to have "overlooked" in her "segmentation study".

I have a TOS forum at my Dirk site, so there Bonnie :P

Default Great work BST!

But I still get nothing from the link. Did they remove the article? We need the link to that article. Because I really hope Mr. Faries links to that article on the BSG.com website to expose her. I wonder, is this guy in bed with Bonnie?

Why should I be upset, we all know she lies. I happens every time her mouth moves.

But the guys at CBS.Marketwatch might find this an interesting story, especially if the new mini bombs.

Default EMAILED to Ron Moore

Subj: Ron, I just can't stomach this, I'm sorry.
Date: 5/26/03 10:58:26 AM Central Daylight Time

Bonnie Hammer writes:

"The network is hoping for another hit with an update of "Battlestar Galactica," a rethinking of the 1978-80 ABC series that starred Lorne Greene, Anne Lockhart and Dirk Benedict. Sci-Fi's version stars James Edward Olmos in the Greene role of Commander Adama, and is slated to air in December. "When we tested the segmentation study, every single group ... all said that they were interested in it," Hammer said. "They'd love to see it reinvented, reimagined.

"I think we are going to knock this one out of the ballpark.""

Excite -

This is a LIE. No coincidence the Scifi board was censored, either.

You didn't say it, I realize. But it is nevertheless spin-doctoring to the max. I realize you have no love lost for the bulk of the fans who've rejected your project, but if I were you, maybe I'd make a statement or something, because this clearly misrepresents the truth. While some people will clearly give it a chance, to say it is unanimously supported is a lie.

I sent off a quick letter. Thanks for the link.

Mr. Wilkerson,

I read your article on the Sci-Fi Channel, and am writing to tell you that its president, Bonnie Hammer, is not telling the truth about the new Battlestar Galactica mini series. Or at the very least, she is exaggerating to a huge degree.

There may indeed be many looking forward to this new Galactica mini series, but it's a low percentage. I've been cruising the Galactica forums off and on for almost three years now, and I'd estimate that less than ten percent of those who post messages are looking forward to the new mini series. It may have been as high as twenty percent a few months ago, but the script was leaked back in the winter and met with almost universal disapproval (due to some extreme changes from the original series).

If you want to learn what the fans are thinking, please visit:

battlestargalactica.com

colonialfleets.com

or cylon.org

There is also a site devoted entirely to the new mini which gets advanced information about the production. Even this site only has a handful of supporters, with an equal if not greater number of non-supporters. The site is:

http://galactica2003.subspacebbs.com

There is also a Galactica forum at scifi.com, which recently switched to heavy moderation after the overwhelming majority of posts were critical of the new production. Most of the fans' complaints don't make it through the moderator's editing process now. The number of posts has shrunk from forty or fifty per day to about five, with the result that there seems to be much less of an uproar against the new Galactica, when it is acutally a form of censorship.

Sincerely,
Ray Grant

Moore has no fans except the manufactured fanbase at subspace Galactica 2003 bb. I wouldn't watch one production of Moore's including Carnaval which will be aired on HBO. I lost all interest when Moore killed Kirk, totally destroyed BG, gave the tos fans a BS story, and so on.

[..."starred Lorne Greene, Anne Lockhart and Dirk Benedict."]

All true. But the top-billed star was Richard Hatch, curiously absent from the statement by Bonnie Hammer.

Could it be, that the Richard Hatch sites are PRO-FAN voice?

Could it be, that that is the reason for the omission?

Could it be?

Let's truthfully make her look like the idiot that she is and mention to these people that the producer of the X-Men movies were removed a month before filming in favor for this fan rejected mini-series.

OF COURSE the Sigh-Fry Channel is lying. They've got so much of their egos tied up in this piece of daggit-drivel they can't admit to anything else. And, WHEN it flops, they will of course blame the true fans, and our vast plot to stop them, since it could never be THEIR product that was bad. Like all self-appointed arbiters of taste, they alone know what's good, the rest of us are Philistines.

Ken, I hope you gave them that URL because it's a great place to read just how the majority of the fans feel.

I just sent my email and I pointed to the petition that is now less then 100 away from 17000.

I also pointed to other sites. Any (REAL) research will show that the fans of Battlestar Galactica are not happy with this new show that is at best, a skeleton of its name sake.

Where? I see something about X-men, but no Singer or DeSanto.
Quote:
Bolstered by "Dune's" success, Hammer led the Sci-Fi Channel toward more longform programming development, and that culminated this past December with the ambitious 10-night, 20-hour miniseries "Taken," produced by Steven Spielberg.

Sci-Fi took a big risk with "Taken," the saga of three families affected by alien abductions over the course of four generations, by featuring wall-to-wall coverage of the show for 10 primetime nights. After its initial 9-11 p.m. showing, the same episode would be repeated at 11, and then one more time at 7 p.m. the following night.

"Taken" could boast of no major stars in its cast. Heather Donahue, best known for her role in "The Blair Witch Project," and Matt Frewer, who is still primarily recognized as the computerized, shades-wearing "Max Headroom" in that '80s TV series, were perhaps the most familiar faces.

Because it was going out so far on a limb with "Taken," Sci-Fi felt it had to "maximize that moment," Hammer said.

"We ... knew that we wanted to change our branding, our look, our logo, our on-air IDs, our off-channel voice, [and] we did that inside of 'Taken.' So we got a fair amount of noise, not only on 'Taken,' but on our new marketing," she said. The new look was aimed squarely at the new audiences the channel's research had identified.

If viewers tired of the miniseries, it never showed. "Taken" got an average 4.1 rating, equivalent to 3.26 million viewers each night, making Sci-Fi the top cable network during its two-week run.
Sci-Fi took a big risk with "Taken".
Way do you think it was called.
