Not just childhood dreams
Fantasies can continue into adulthood and Moore,Ron is doing alot of damage to my adult based desire to continue the journey of the fleet. I was 25 when the show caught my attention and I saw the possible depth of the whole story.

I think most of us have our own "fantasy" of where the fleet are now. I have frequently wondered if there is an evil master plan to completely destroy BSG, it's the only way the current production makes sense.

Its how I feel
Well still be around after all the cookies crumble, unlike a number of careers.A original Galactica seies with the original charectors could thake usa networks into the big leauges with rateings I wouldnt doubt it would be in the top 10 nielsen, the joke there about to lay on us will only wind up being on them. The plain fact is there degredation will be an artistic failure only surpassed by its monetary cost and the completet lost of trust that has been self evident on the sci fi board, with selective editing on posts that dont agree with the concept of new charectors.Im not refering to flamewar posts I belive they were editing out of embaresment of the total and complete fanbase revolt that has happeneed. If tho original cast isnt included expect to see massive non subscription of sci fi and usa channels on local cable stations this will cost them a few million viewers andthe advertisment dollars will dry up FAST!!!!!!!!!!!!

A viable Battlestar Galactica remake is possible but however the TPTB have decided on something that remotely resembles Battlestar Galactica. From the reviews it seems like this was done purposely to destroy our universe. That is truely unfortunate because this is a great opportunity to put out a viable Battlestar Galactica series.

See, comparisons like this is one of the reasons people don’t take fandom (of any show or genera) seriously.
Last Battlestar, I must be a “moore ron” so mebby you can enlighten me as to how the reinterpretation of a television show (however much you or I may have liked it) constitutes a "rape" of ones childhood dreams.
Because it seems to me that the child who is a victim of war or violence is the one who has actually had there dreams shattered or “raped” as you say…
Lets see tho…
Not getting your TV show back exactly the way u want it. Or…Not knowing if u will live through tomorrow...
You know what…
You must be right.
By god that Ron Moore (or sorry) Moore Ron (clever) is such a monster!
If he were any worse we'd have to drag him in front of a war crimes tribunal.
He acts like he is the next Sadam Hussein!
He is the unsliced loaf in the wonder bread section of humanity.
I wonder what is going to be the next comparison?
I can almost see the topic titles now...
"Ron Moore caused the holocaust of the original cast!"
“Sci-fi, Moore and Hammer. THE AXIS OF EVIL!!”
Or
“Ron Moore’s script kills babies”

This sreies may still turn out to be viable.
No matter how many positive or negative reviews it gets here among fans/non fans it is still the public that will decide.
This show may be the next farscape, or the next space rangers.
Till it airs we wont know.

violations of trust and fans
not takeing the people who watch the show hence the advertisement target audiance is a fatal flaw on the airwaves.Useing the fanbase of the original show in a deceptive manner to garner intrest in a script is hence BOHICA or in english BEND OVER HERE IT COMES AGAIN. Lets be honest with each other at least...

If it does turn out viable, then that would invalidate our Universe in the eyes of most. Imagine a horde of fans of the new Mini-Series coming to this forum with their passion and love for their show. This would be a strange place if that happens. Heck the scifi.com forum would probably have an upheaval of flame threads by both sides. And if the series is a huge hit then we would be a minority whose dream will never be fulfilled.

Be reminded: An older male Colonial Warrior is sexually assaulted within the first five minutes of the new show, then killed. (First he accepts the advances of the female humanoid Cylon on Armistice Stationa - a neutral ground for the Colonials and Cylons to meet where the Cylons suddenly reappear after being quiet for over 40 years - then is enticed, felt up/down, pinned and unable to get away when he decides not to continue. Then his shuttle explodes, followed by the space station, all as he continues to be locked in an embrace by the female humanoid Cylon. If that wasn't bad enough, there are two Cylon Centurion drones looking on as this is happening.)
I think the term "rape" is very applicable. He rejects her advances, yet the female humanoid Cylon continues -- with force. As we find out later, "she" cannot die. Her consciousness is transferred to another body elsewhere.
In Baltar's case, he isn't raped. He goes along willingly when enticed by Number Six, both in-person and via the silica implant chip.

Btw, I do understand that the term "rape" within the subject thread wasn't meant to imply the opening scene within the mini-series (which I discuss above). But I thought I'd chime in with that.

Rape is free robbery is a durable and male word without question, but, since she concerns so remarkably to the hand the topic, I cannot find disturbance with your consumption of it. As consequence the angels smile after the tresses.

Yikes, what did I do to deserve this Hito? In case you didn't notice, I didn't bring the topic up, merely agreed with the description, however distasteful it may be.
I would consider Ron's ideas as a rape of the original theme. The script has been taken by force (changed against our very public wishes) and tragically killed (destroyed all semblance of being a decent, magical, heartwarming show).
We could easily use another politically-correct description of the events, but that is what has happened to our show, like it or not. Again, not the term I would have used (I didn't post it), but after five years of fighting and losing the battle in the end, I don't care what you call it!
Personally, I find questioning my credentials as a true fan of the show quite offensive. Most others here would agree with me.

I agree. Tom Desanto's (who was in preproduction of a BSG show that most fans were looking foreward to) script and production were taken away from us by Bonnie Hammer and given to Ronald D Moore and then re-imagined beyond recongition and unappealing to 99% of the fanbase.
So yes I agree that we've been robbed and then raped.

no way
I was behind DeSanto's version too.
I was really looking forward to it.
But from where i was standing at the time it seemed that most of the fans were just as hostile toward him as they are toward Moore.
And people who wanted to give his ideas a chance were not "real" fans either.
They were spys for desanto and whoever else was doing the production at the time.
Now the only reason people want to boost for DeSanto now is becasue it took moore's version for them to finaly realize his ideas were not as bad as it could get.
But now it is too late and you will have ro reap what you have sewn.

I see the "rape" description on this thread as an analogy and agree with Scooter's and Mike's descriptions: Robbed and raped.
I'd see the robbery part as a more literal action if I were Mr. DeSanto. I see the fanbase with their efforts to get something faithful to the original show made ripped from them without any semblance of acknowledging that they (the fans) knew their subject. I'm just planning on boycotting Universal's products and seeing and encouraging others to see X2.
