Would you want the new 'film' in 3D?
Although to be honest I doubt I'm going to live to see the 'continuation' actually happen in the current climate of 'no money'.....
I'd love to see it done in 3D! Not with any major concessions to the 3D like things being obviously waved in front of your face, just an additional dimension so to speak!
What do you lot think?

I'm not crazy about 3D but I wouldn't be against it--and if it serves to add to the audience, all the better. Know what you mean about "doubt I'm going to live to see the 'continuation'... Definitely not holding my breath.

Re: Would you want the new 'film' in 3D?
There's very little of the 3D stuff that looks different to me than 2D, but my eyes don't work stereoscopically. I just want a movie that sticks within the major parts of the established lore. If it's a reboot, they can ditch the Carrilon subplot and put something better in it's place. The honor of the warriors, the strong faith, hope and family themes all have to be there though.

{sigh} Sounds like a little piece of Heaven, jewels... You pretty much summed up what I've always loved about BG.

I quite agree with you there, Jewels. Those are the qualities that made BG so memorable. The colonials gave an example of virtues that stays with any one who considers themselves a fan of the original.
3D? Is it going to truly make it any better if the film isn't up to par? Seriously.
Make a good film and you won't need 3D.

Even if the tickets for a 3D version cost the same as for an ordinary screening I'd still choose the latter. Don't really need Vipers coming out of the screen. What's the point in that?

Re: Would you want the new 'film' in 3D?
Well, the question wasn't: 'if the new film does happen and it sucks, would having it in 3D save it?'..... So be fair
But all things being equal, and without the extra dimension detracting from the film in any other respect, you still wouldn't want it?
You lot don't think this new technology adds anything to a movie?
I'm really suprised.
I saw Avatar, and quite literally thought that the 3D was astonishing.
Perhaps not a great example because I thought the movie was generally weak in every other respect, but the 3D was breathtaking.

Re: Would you want the new 'film' in 3D?
I confess when thinking of the movie in 3D that the Viper launch would look pretty cool. They look impressive anyway but in 3D it might be something. To be fair, most Viper-related shots would be awesome.

I'm not a fan of adding tech to a film just to add tech -- if there is a major reason for 3D, then definitely, use it! But if it's just being thrown in there because everyone and their daggit wants a 3D shot, there's not much point.

Re: Would you want the new 'film' in 3D?
If you used the Avatar tech: that, I can discern a difference in and it doesn't appear flat even though I cannot see the full effect. Disney real 3D is not worth the extra $3 or the theatre schedule limitations for me. It's still a flat movie to my eyes & brain.

Just conferred with my Daggit.....
He does want 3D
I have to say that I don't see this new 3D as some kind of gimmick, even though it is being used in a gimicky way in many movies.
I have no interest in seeing the kind of 3D movie where things are constantly being waved in your face
I see 3D like the advent of sound or colour, it should simply be used to enhance the realism of the movie going experience.
