Casting Call: Starbuck
There is only one Starbuck:
...and for a continuation movie, Dirk would be the only choice.
However, if a remake is made, who would play a young Starbuck?
Nominate your choices!
Here are a few for your consideration:

Re: Casting Call: Starbuck
The first actor, maybe. The way Hollywood works I wouldn't doubt he and his Supernatural co-star would get a double tap for a BSG remake. As for the other actors. . .
I think Starbuck should be re-cast the way the original was, with a little known actor in the part. These actors, good as they may be, are too established and have their own personaes that will be difficult for audiences to disassociate from.

Re: Casting Call: Starbuck
Cast against type. Use Adrien Brody, after a few weeks of acting school and diction classes of course.

Re: Casting Call: Starbuck
I prefer Ryan Renolds or Matthew McConaughey.
But it's hard to believe that someone will play Starbuck like
Dirk Benedict !!

Re: Casting Call: Starbuck
My nomination for someone to portray Starbuck in a reboot is Josh Holloway who portrays James "Sawyer" Ford in the TV Series "Lost".
As Sawyer, he's a con-man, opportunist, rogue, womanizer and a "snake" (what a certain female Bridge Officer referred to Starbuck as. ).
Yet he is loyal to his friends and also has a certain charm about him.
I believe he has what it takes to pull off a very convincing Starbuck.
Just my .02 cubits

I'm voting for Jensen. He's just too hot for words.

Oh ok...
Justin Hartley plays Oliver Queen (aka Green Arrow) on Smallville.
John Barrowman plays Capt. Jack Harkness on Dr. Who and Torchwood!
Both of them have the charm and wit to pull off a good Starbuck!

Re: Casting Call: Starbuck
Actually the cast of Torchwood wouldn't be a bad start for casting a new BSG project:
John Barrowman - Apollo (or Starbuck)
Burn Gorman - Zak
Eve Myles - Athena
Naoko Mori - Rigel
Gareth David-Lloyd - 'Greenbean'
And to round out the rest of the cast how about these Dr. Who regulars:
Tom Baker (or Peter Davison) - Adama*
Elisabeth Sladen (or Lalla Ward) - Ila
Freema Agyeman - Sheba
Billie Piper - Cassiopeia
Sylvester McCoy (or Rowan Atkinson) - Baltar
Colin Baker - Sire Uri
With David Tennant as Apollo (or Starbuck)
Guest starring ? as Col Tigh
And Jeff Bridges appearing as Commander Cain
(*) Alternatively, if neither are available, or still with us, I'd oddly like to see Ed Begley Jr. tackle Adama.

Re: Casting Call: Starbuck
It's going to be really hard to fill Dirk Benedict's shoes as Starbuck.
How about Dirk reprising his role as Starbuck reflecting on his many adventures and Richard Hatch as Apollo and leading a new group of warriors. We then would have new characters in the TOS BSG universe and still pay homage to the original characters.
*I think I might have said this before*

As desireable this is (and rightfully so) it may not be the wisest move. About the only real hope for success here is for a possble reboot like what the Star Trek fanchise is doing.
Reaching out to a new audience and hopefully pleasing the older fans is no small task. I being a HUGE ST fan (as most here already know) my hopes are not that high even over the reboot and the only true redeeming thing is that Leonard Nimoy (original Spock) will be there but that will be it. Fortunately Vulcans can live a very long time and he is playing someone else and not as future Spock...thank the gods.
So if the new movie of oBSG was to bring in like Richard or Dirk for whatever role that would be fitting for the story, then that would be about the only way it would work. I too hope they consider this as well...even Boomer (Herb) would be a great addition as well.
