Hand of God, for the promise it was showing. War of the Gods for the breadth of concept, or Return of Starbuck for the surprise and the pleasure of it, but if it is about impact, it has to be Saga.
Eps so far, could also include Eric Paddon's rewrites of TOS eps, or the virtual season II, or Sandy's Exodus, or any of the other, many, excellent fanfics out there (with some age on them or recent), all feral and evolving, taking the glimpse we were shown into new territory..
Or...books, comics, films, artwork and other creative fanstuff...
And I gotta pick one?? No Fair!!
Cheers,
Lara

Tricky one. You say no G80 but I would have included 'The Return of Starbuck' as a favourite, but I'd probably edge Mission Galactica:The Cylon Attack ahead. That's basically a better edit of The Living Legend, my favourite 2 parter.

Ditto! (That's pretty much how I sum up these episodes, Lara!)

Despite some of the problems I have with the character of Cain as he was portrayed, I love Living Legend.
I just have a fond spot for the Pegasus!
As always;

Going to take some heat on this...
My favorite episodes are
Saga of a Star World
Living Legend
However, I really enjoyed the following episodes because they portray the scattered outposts of humanity that remain--a manifestation of a large interstellar "nation" that retracted to its core over the course of the 1000 yahren war with the Cylons.
IMHO, there was plenty of fertile ground for story lines.
The Lost Warrior
The Long Patrol
Gun on Ice Planet Zero
The Magnificent Warriors
The Young Lords
My least favorite episodes were the War of the Gods two-parter.
