Sci-Fi (series) DVD recommendations? Help me out Warriors!
I've finally bought a multi-region dvd player to take advantage of the many US dvd releases that we don't get over here, and I find that like a kid in a sweet-shop, I don't know where to begin!
Some I've never seen either, so I could use some input from you Warriors on which are worth buying!
My tastes?
Right from the top of the pile: Galactica and TNG...
To the campest of the cheapies: War of the Worlds (The first R1 set I've bought!)
Please make some suggestions, and if posible add a line about the show in case I've not seen it.
Thanks
Draco

I liked Earth 2 for the most part - a group of refugees land on an earth-like planet - but it was a bit odd. I'd also recommend the 2 V miniseries as well - the first is the best, I think - but the series itself was kind of 'eh'. I watched it and enjoyed it when it was on, but I'm not sure at this point that I'd want to spend the money on the DVD set.
I hear Space: Above and Beyond is out on DVD now - that's one series I liked.
If I think of more I'll let you know.

Space 1999, Captain Scarlet, UFO--pretty much any of the later Gerry Anderson shows.
Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. Six Million Dollar Man/Bionic Woman (both due out on DVD soon). The Pretender.
The Last Exile. Witch Hunter Robin. Full Metal Panic. Yukikaze. PlanetES. All of these are good anime series and well worth watching.

Don't forget Stargate SG-1! The series is a much more satisfying experiance than the Stargate movie. If you are not among the fortunates to be a fan of this series, check it out. You will be glad you did.

Bigger and Better in America.
Hey Draco.
I don't know if you are into the extra's on DVD's, but if you are, it may be worth you while checking both R1 & R2 releases, as sometimes R1 gets alot of goodies that we over here miss out on.
Apparently the R1 version of Battlestar Galactica has much more stuff than our R2 version, including a audio commentary by Hatch & Benedict on Saga. And the R1 Buck Rogers DVD is also supposed to be much better than the bare-bones R2 version.
So it may be worth replacing some of your R2 DVD's with R1 versions. If you are into the extra's, and you think it's worth the second hit on your bank balence of corse.

There's some good suggestions here, as well as subforums for specific shows

Excellent, thanks a lot Warriors!
Some great ideas, some shows I've not ever even heard of for me to look for, and (BRG) I've already bought two of the Cylon head DVD sets (pal) guess I'm going to have to buy a third one now!
Again, thanks folk!

I agree with Dawg, Space: Above and Beyond is worth it. Playusa.com has it for about £27.99

Space above and beyond is a great show that fits well with Battlestar Galactica. The set is sadly lacking any extras, but the show is great! SAAB is one of those great shows that, like Galactica, should have been renewed for a second season.

Oh yes!
Thanks Warriors, SAAB is certainly on the list!
My mrs has never seen it, so she's in for a treat when I get it.
