Hi Shiningstar,

It is all the fault of our resident artists. One night while sitting in front of my computer enjoying a large hot mug of coffee, I started to write a story that would highlight some of the BSG inspired ships SteveW and friends have made.

From there evolution took hold and the EDF universe was born. In design it is fully compatible with the BSG universe and if miracles do happen and some day I can get a license to merge in the BSG story, well there will be a ready made Galactica finds Earth foundation. In fact I have a rough outline of how it will go.

I have other stories, written over the years for my own amusement which I have been tweaking to make compatible with the EDF universe. Right now I have a daunting 16 working titles.

If you would like to see some of the EDF check out

http://www.starcmd.com/EDF/main.htm

this is also an experiment in building a web book.

My analysis of the Fleet at Cimtar can be found at

http://www.starcmd.com/BSG/index.html

There is more, I just haven’t had time to get it all up!

I hope you enjoy it!

I have liked Galactica 78 and Galactica 03.......didnt like Galactica 80 but it had its moments .

I look forward to the new series, and hope it can progress the cause of the old crew.

Hi Muffit,

Yes it is. Loved the original.....liked the remake....coulda been less heavy.
Also when i chose the handle a few months ago when I joined my first forum, I realised i had days where i felt like that.

I like Elvis too, but that part of the handle came from my highschool days 19 years ago.....I mistakenly beleived sideburns were making a comeback......that an a few mispronouncements on my part that they were "sideboards" and my year book entries were full of jokes about Elvis going into the antiques business!

Look forward to seeing you about the place.

Cheers!

I bought Battlestar Galactica Complete Epic Series on DVD and taped the new un-improved Battlestar Galactica and this quote I copied from OldWarDaggits’ post by Ron Moore.

"I had a responsibility to the material and the source of the material. And I think the fans would have been more disappointed if we had made a series that contradicted the world that [had been] created and was so wonderful."

-Ron D. Moore

IMHO Ron gutted the essence of the original series, like Apollo was a natural leader in the original but in that new version Lee 'Apollo' Adama was a jerk, his judgement was clouded by his disdain for his father was viseral.

On to the patriarch of the Adama clan he was not even close to Lorene Greene's Adama, he was more like Commander Cain instead of the thoughtful leader the original series Adama. It took the Sec. of Education turned President by attrition; to remind the new Adama that the Cylons had defeated the Colonials, like the original Adama finally convinced Cain the necessity of protecting the civilians in the fleet.

Starbuck was even more of a jerk than Apollo, plus that sex change had more to do with free headlines than any character development, the original Starbuck was easy to like, heck almost all the original series characters were easy to like.
Only Boomer the Cylon and Chief Tyrol had redeeming features, Boomer lost hers in the ending.

Tigh well lets not wake him up, it's that hangover and bad breath heavy drinkers tend to have, and I bet he falls of that wagon, again and again.

Ron Moore missed out on " the fans would have been more disappointed if we had made a series that contradicted the world that [had been] created and was so wonderful."

Ron screwed the pooch in a big way, in so many ways, "So say we all"!

Thank you shiningstar, I'm glad to have been in agreement with you, as well.

But as to Tom DeSanto getting around to working on a Larson TOS movie, he now an Executive Producer with long time friend and Director Bryan Singer on the new Superman movie and an Executive Producer along with Steven Spielberg on the new Transformers movie.

I don't see why Superman and Xmen shouldn't go head to head.

I say let the Xmen3 and fox studios go head to head with WB. :D

I mean after all it is a business when you come down to it.

Suppose I have to make a first post somewhere & this seems as good a place as any. For the record, I went with the "fan of both" option. Looking forward to talking about the new series as it develops. I agree that Moore has given us very different characters than existed in the first series -- and I don't think that's a bad thing. The original BSG left no room for character development; Adama was a fully-realized believer in the existence of the 13th colony. The new series offers the possibility of going along with Adama on his journey, to see how he went from cynical battlestar commander to true believer. Can't wait for January!

OWD,

Thank you my friend, I have worked on quite a bit of it. Also expanded the universe a bit. Because of the copyright issues I have been working on a version based on the EDF universe. That has slowed things a bit as I have had to build a background story to support it.

Would you like to see some of it?

I would love to and I'm sorry for taking so long to reply to your post but I've been so busy promoting my bands second CD and my time has been cut very short.

Oh by the way, I haven't forgotten The rings of bravis. I just sent a copy of it to Bill Everatt ( The one who did the commander voice ) and I plan on playing it when ever I get Radio Galactica back up and running.

Hey OWD,

Long time no speak. Let me know if you need more log entries for Bravis. Check out Jal’s Journal in the Library when you get a chance. I’ve been using it to flesh out the basic story. Found lots of lose ends. Darn things turning into a book! Barrel of fun though.

Voted for ya, you’ve got some great tunes there. Keep up the good work!

Hey thanks. :)

You know I was thinking of asking you to write a script around those log entries so that we could have a complete audio story. That is if your interested. You wouldn't have to worry about not having the time because I wouldn't be able to do it right now anyways.

Once again I'm bogged down with to many projects on the go at the same time but later on it would be fun to hear The rings of Bravis as a complete story.

OWD,

When we started Rings I knew it would be fun, doing a full show will be a blast!

Let me know when you can start work.

You know a Science fiction radio-station, with its own original work, could be a viable avenue for you to look at with your connections. Right now radio is packed with talk shows and general irritating nonsense. I occurred to me, during rush hour when tens of thousands of commuters are sitting in their cars with little to do but listen to the political buffoonery currently being broadcast. A radio show, well written, just might sell.

Something to think about.

I was just looking at the poll for this thread..and wow..it is very accurate to the concensus of this board.

Most on the board love the original show, and do not care at all for the new show.

The second highest ranking goes to those of us who love both shows, but we are still heavilly outnumbered in popular opinion.

Nice accurate poll.

Your right. I was just listening to the first part of a new 6 part radio play of Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy. A radio play continuation of the first 12 parts that aired on the BBC 25 years ago. I was thinking how cool it was because those plays were always well done.

You know, we could even form our own audio play production team with writers actors producers and such. It would be lots of fun and like you have said, you never know how far it might go. I just have to wait till my plate is cleaned up a bit first but it sounds like a great Idea.

OWD and all,
Actually, I was also wanting to recruit some people who may be interested in doing some voice acting for another audio production company (in addition to dong the Galactica stuff at OWD's site) that (as of now) is not exactly a profitable organization, but it intends on becoming one as soon as possible when it starts cranking out original material.

Right now, the company is doing its own Doctor Who audio dramas. (Obviously they cannot pay anyone for these, as it is a licensed property...these are more labors of love.)

I am the General Production Coordinator, and part of the Casting staff, as well as a voice actor. (Don't worry...obviously someone else determines my audtitions if I audition. :D)

OWD, if you are doing any more Galactica stuff at your site, I would love to help, now that I have Cool Edit Pro installed on my computer again. :D

Anyhoo, for anyone who is interested...please join the following Yahoo grouos...Jon, the CEO of the company, has laid most everything out there.

I've liked the old series since I was a kid.

As for the new show, I don't mind it for what it is. It just seems to lack the spirit of the original. This is not to say I hate it. I like it. I just miss the old show.

I vote for the second option, I just love the original show and I'm still looking forward to see a continuation movie and haven't lost faith in see a continuation series some time in the future. As for the new show, I don't like the way they do it, ignoring the BG fans and sticking their ideas no matter what. But I probably will see Richard's episodes although with mix feelings , since I want to see him as his true role, Captain Apollo. :/: And here is hoping that in a strange way, the interest for BG got picking again and we see our dream come true of a continuation.
