Hi all ..
I am posting this here ... a new member of a lightwave modelling group http://www.lwg3d.org has gone and started a CGI mesh of the Classic
BSG ...... I invited him to drop in here and post updates if he would ..
But I show you what he has done so far , there he going by the Handle
"SBPress" that's not to say he'll use it here but . if you see this thread
SBPress say hello .. :)
After years of noodling on Jim Creveling (and company's) excellent work on a physical model (see http://www.starshipbuilder.com for details), I've finally taken the plunge. The shape of the BigG is a bit dicey. I've been scrounging forums for tidbits for years. I'd come up with what I thought were good proportions, then map shots of Jim's model onto my siloutte. Its been a lot of trial and error but I think I've got a reasonable approximation (re: artistic license!) of the shape that works.
First up, wireframe views (which are somewhat misleading) and a wireframe plus shaded overlay.
