Indeed. There are a few shows on Sci-Fi that didn't grab me and I've tried sitting through it twice. *shivers* It was horrible. I'm talkin' about Scare Tactics of course.
Have to run! See ya!

Repcisg, Hope you don't mind me stepping in to say a few words. You know that I usually don't do that sort of thing but I know that your busy with the writting and all.
By the way, How is that coming along ? I'm very interested in how things turn out.
For all who don't know, Repcisg is one of those rare type of writers that can hook you in the very first chapter and make you forget that you are reading a book.

My favorite show of all time is the original Battlestar Galactica.
That's great that some like the new show and can get fired up about it, but even with Richard Hatch in it, I will not be watching.
It's just not BSG to me...

OWD,
Thank you my friend, I have worked on quite a bit of it. Also expanded the universe a bit. Because of the copyright issues I have been working on a version based on the EDF universe. That has slowed things a bit as I have had to build a background story to support it.
Would you like to see some of it?

Hi Shiningstar,
It is all the fault of our resident artists. One night while sitting in front of my computer enjoying a large hot mug of coffee, I started to write a story that would highlight some of the BSG inspired ships SteveW and friends have made.
From there evolution took hold and the EDF universe was born. In design it is fully compatible with the BSG universe and if miracles do happen and some day I can get a license to merge in the BSG story, well there will be a ready made Galactica finds Earth foundation. In fact I have a rough outline of how it will go.
I have other stories, written over the years for my own amusement which I have been tweaking to make compatible with the EDF universe. Right now I have a daunting 16 working titles.
If you would like to see some of the EDF check out
http://www.starcmd.com/EDF/main.htm
this is also an experiment in building a web book.
My analysis of the Fleet at Cimtar can be found at
http://www.starcmd.com/BSG/index.html
There is more, I just haven’t had time to get it all up!
I hope you enjoy it!

Hi Muffit,
Yes it is. Loved the original.....liked the remake....coulda been less heavy.
Also when i chose the handle a few months ago when I joined my first forum, I realised i had days where i felt like that.
I like Elvis too, but that part of the handle came from my highschool days 19 years ago.....I mistakenly beleived sideburns were making a comeback......that an a few mispronouncements on my part that they were "sideboards" and my year book entries were full of jokes about Elvis going into the antiques business!
Look forward to seeing you about the place.
Cheers!

I bought Battlestar Galactica Complete Epic Series on DVD and taped the new un-improved Battlestar Galactica and this quote I copied from OldWarDaggits’ post by Ron Moore.
"I had a responsibility to the material and the source of the material. And I think the fans would have been more disappointed if we had made a series that contradicted the world that [had been] created and was so wonderful."
-Ron D. Moore
IMHO Ron gutted the essence of the original series, like Apollo was a natural leader in the original but in that new version Lee 'Apollo' Adama was a jerk, his judgement was clouded by his disdain for his father was viseral.
On to the patriarch of the Adama clan he was not even close to Lorene Greene's Adama, he was more like Commander Cain instead of the thoughtful leader the original series Adama. It took the Sec. of Education turned President by attrition; to remind the new Adama that the Cylons had defeated the Colonials, like the original Adama finally convinced Cain the necessity of protecting the civilians in the fleet.
Starbuck was even more of a jerk than Apollo, plus that sex change had more to do with free headlines than any character development, the original Starbuck was easy to like, heck almost all the original series characters were easy to like.
Only Boomer the Cylon and Chief Tyrol had redeeming features, Boomer lost hers in the ending.
Tigh well lets not wake him up, it's that hangover and bad breath heavy drinkers tend to have, and I bet he falls of that wagon, again and again.
Ron Moore missed out on " the fans would have been more disappointed if we had made a series that contradicted the world that [had been] created and was so wonderful."
Ron screwed the pooch in a big way, in so many ways, "So say we all"!

Vooboo welcome to the fleets. I think you said basically what I have
been thinking ........I think they made the prez like adama and adama
well .........I didn't like the way the script was written.

Thank you shiningstar, I'm glad to have been in agreement with you, as well.
But as to Tom DeSanto getting around to working on a Larson TOS movie, he now an Executive Producer with long time friend and Director Bryan Singer on the new Superman movie and an Executive Producer along with Steven Spielberg on the new Transformers movie.

Speculation runs wild shiningstar, but I do not think casting has yet to start just yet, no doubt it will be a known star?

The X-Men-3 cast is a wee bit peeved as is Fox, The WB people want 'Superman' to go head to head with Fox's X-Men-3. http://www.x3movie.net/UX3/xnews/news88

Suppose I have to make a first post somewhere & this seems as good a place as any. For the record, I went with the "fan of both" option. Looking forward to talking about the new series as it develops. I agree that Moore has given us very different characters than existed in the first series -- and I don't think that's a bad thing. The original BSG left no room for character development; Adama was a fully-realized believer in the existence of the 13th colony. The new series offers the possibility of going along with Adama on his journey, to see how he went from cynical battlestar commander to true believer. Can't wait for January!
