The Eyes of Galadriel
Although I have yet to read the books, I am a huge Lord of the Rings fan. I have devoured a lot of info about the stories and the origins behind Tolkien's writings, but one thing I have yet to get a hold of depite the websites I've gone to (OneRing among them), is a solid image showing the
eyes of Galadriel, who I think I've fallen in love with. Just kidding, but I love the character, I love her wise and gentle and loving appearance, and I loved her concern for Frodo and the people of Middle Earth. Like I said I haven't read the books and maybe some readers would disagree about their prior visions of the character's appearance, but just as I see Ian McKellan as the perfect Gandalf, I also see Cate Blanchett as the perfect actress to play Galadriel.
Most of all I love her eyes, there's something about them. I want to get a hold of a good image of Galadriel's face and eyes, but not just any image from the films, but particularly at the end of Return of the King at the Grey Havens. When she was about to board the boat, when she glanced to her left at Frodo and her eyes just about glowed with something I can't even describe, as if saying, I understand your pain, Frodo Baggins, and your answers and your peace are both on this ship, so follow me, because we have plans for you. Evidently that was what she was saying to him with her eyes so it wasn't an "as if saying". But that is the image that I seek, of her face and eyes in that moment as she smiled and her eyes glowed warmly toward Frodo. I have looked at a few good LOTR websites and I have yet to find a capture of that image. So my question is, does anybody have a capture of her face and eyes in that scene and/or when she was standing beside Celeborn and Elrond, or remember seeing it on any site you can direct me to? Can someone point me to the eyes of Galadriel?

You've got good taste, my friend. That is a beautiful image.
If your PC has a DVD drive (and if you have the DVDs), you may be able to do a screen capture of that image.
If not, there might be someone who can help......

MY comp does have a DVD drive and I do have the ROTK DVD, but for the life of me I could not figure out hot to save any scene from that or any DVD. Although my comp has movie downloading and DVD burning software, it does not have a visible button for saving screen shots.

Well... there is always PowerDVD which is GREAT software. And it does fram grabs. But costs about $50.
The alternative is MediaPlayerClassic. If you are on PC. It is a modified version of an older Window media Player with lots of nifty features. If you can already play dvd on your pC you can probably use MPC to do frame grabs. And best of all, its free.
for windows 98, millenium and earlier
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/g...2.zip?download
for all other windows systems
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/g...2.zip?download
after you install, be sure to reboot your pc before running MPC

Thanks Thomas, I will try that.
I have a Gateway 510. I just wish there had been an easy and obvious way to do it with the program I already have.

I'll try that again, but I had already searched a few LOTR wallpaper sites and did a Google search for all things related to Galadriel. After searching dozens out of thousantds of web locations, I gave up.

Here's the same pic, with Galadriel alone:

Thanks for helping me, my friend. Sorry I didn't come back to this thread to take a look see till now. That is indeed the shot I wanted! Woo hoo! However, as I noticed when I freeze framed the scene on my DVD player, you can't get a clear shot of that image without the blur of her movement, no matter how much I tried, as you too got with that image. Thanks a dozen times, but unfortunately the speed of her movement does not allow a clear cut shot of her face there. But you know what? Scrolling back through the movie for every scene showing Galadriel, I found an even better shot of the angelic Galadriel's face and eyes. The scene where Frodo "sees" her as she gives him the phial of light (or reminds him that she gave it to him in the first film) and tells him that if he can't do it no one can. I wish I had remembered that scene earlier. I hadn't watched the film in a while because my speakers on my computer don't at this time work.

Thanks to BST I just went to that site and bookmarked it. They do have an incredible number of shots from each film. Top notch.

Excellent news regarding the eyes of Galadriel. I've been using the InterActual 2.0 DVD player that came default with my computer but the freeze frame function wasn't so good. But I found that I also have InterVideo WinDVD4 and it is a better system, with a great freeze frame and image capture feature. So I played around with ROTK as well as Star Wars: Attack of the Clones and captured dozens of frames of Galadriel and Coruscant. I was able to get a clearer shot of Galadriel looking over at Frodo, but the best shots I have of her are just before she boarded the ship, and when she appeared to Frodo outside Shelob's cave. BTW, the shot I have right now as my avatar is also my desktop wallpaper.

Pete, I want to thank you again for taking the time to capture that shot of Galadriel that you did. I was able to get a clearer capture of that scene (not the one in my avatar) because my DVD system allows me to play it one frame at a time until I get the exact right one and then save it. And I did, but I think that shot worked in the movie because it was so fast and in motion, but when you catch single frames of it it doesn't have the same effect, oddly.
