Ratings. Ratings. Ratings.
The first night is the most critical to SCI-FI. They can gauge the interest and spin the results however they please.
The second and third nights help supply the ammo for going to series. It doesn't mean if you don't tune in that a series won't happen. (To my understanding, the decision comes late December, although they've already made up their minds to do so from what I've heard.)
Bottom line: It's all about
Glen A. Larson and his separate project now (for fans of the original). He has my support at present. A good showing for the TV series won't hurt his efforts, imho, for his motion picture efforts.
Next week, I will
not be watching this mini-series either. :p I can say that honestly. This isn't the show I want to watch. The editor-in-chief of Cinescape magazine (interviewed at TVGuide.com) is
wrong: As an ardent fan, I WON'T be tuning in.
I will, however, be doing whatever I can to support Mr. Larson if/when he starts publicizing his efforts.
