Another question for the fans
What is the most important thing about Battlestar Galactica that you would like to see in a continuation ?
Believe me , these questions have meaning.

That Earth IS the lost 13th tribe of man. They came from Kobol settled
and formed a civilization called Atlantis. A cataclysm (whether natural or man made) detroyed and that the civilization we have now is a picking up of the pieces
This doesn't have to be the main thrust of the story. (most people still want a journey) but I would like to see it as part of a contiuation universe.
I would live with a retaking of the colony's so long as it is consisteant with TOS. (The tribes of Kobol left on arc ships not battlestars this is mentioned in Hatch's books Paradise).
I want to see a more realitic feel of war. (fusion of steel and mythology). There can be supernatural like elements in battles I point to the battle of LOTR. Twin Towers and the third one coming up.
I quote from a post on another forum
"I see the mighty battle scenes
and I picture Cylon Hordes of all branches of the military
fighting (space see land and air) against the combined human forces of Earth the colonials and forces from Terra. A final war that is really a proxy war between the beings of light and Count Iblis the result of which will determine the destiny of humanity.
I have no problem with Ian McKellen as Adama."
The quote is a wishlist but this could still apply to the Cylons and the Colonials only as part of a journey.

I've always felt that the "theme" of the show was the ongoing war between the forces of Good and those of Evil. More of the story about the existence of the Beings of Light and Count Iblis needs to be told -- as if to set the stage for the Final War that Winemaster mentioned.
With regards to the layout of the story -- when it is produced -- I think it needs to be in the form of "installments" much like the original BSG was intended. Possibly set as a 4 or 5 part series picking up in the time period following Hand of God then, flashing back to the era where the tribes were still on Kobol, Cylons were still reptilian in nature, Iblis was still amongst the Beings of Light. After the groundwork has been completed, up to the destruction of the Colonies then, flash back to present and pick up with the story, leading up to the Final Conflict.

Any continuation would require keeping everyting that has been established in the Orginal Season. From the Trek to find Earth, the 13th Tribe, The battle with the Cylons, And a focus on the struggles of man to find a new hope.
I also think that focussing on Iblis would be a mistake. This is the one place I think everyone can take a lesson from star Trek. As popular a character as Q was, it remained that way cause he wasn't always involved in every conflict. You only got brief glimpses of him.
Now, take the Borg, Also rarely seen till you come toVoyager, then you watered them down to the point you no longer believed they were all powerful, cause one single StarFleet ship can defeat them week after week.

What would I like to see in a continuation? The most important? That is tough, there is a lot I would like to see in a continuation to pin point it to the most important is really tough.
I want to see the theme and storyline continued from the original BSG. A real family oriented show, that still has adult themes but remain hidden so little ones don't get the jist of it. Wanton sex is out of the question. Continue A blend of mythology and Science. Also the familiar lingo Yahren, micron, frack, ect....
Twelve tribes from "twelve" planets in search of the missing 13th tribe (Earth). I Would like to see Dirk as Starbuck if he is willing, but he and Boomer need to be human males! Any from the original cast who are willing to be involved as main characters would be wonderful! Have the old Galatica herself back!
Cylons were not made by humans, I would rather stay true to Larson's vision. They were made by a reptile race. I don't really mind more human looking cylons but I still would like to see the old metal ones behiend the controls of the Raiders.
I do like Hatch's book Armageddon. He remained true to the theme of Galactica while continuing the story some 18 yarens into the future. He added more characters and the technoology was up dated like the "QSE." That was a good idea. In another novel he even had the fleet find Cain, that was also good.
If it is still a journey or if earth is found it doesnt matter as long as it is stays true to TOS in theme, storyline and characters That would be enough for me.

That it should be true to what went before and expand upon it and not be some tired old reunion movie.
Also that those cast members who have since passed on, be not replaced, so the memory of their performances lives on as a fitting tribute to them.

the relationship between adama and apollo, and the one between apollo, starbuck and boomer. return them to male charactors, there is a need for female charactors so reintroduce sheba, cassie and athena.

Agreed. Too much of any one character and it becomes cliche'. I would view Iblis' involvement / appearances much the same as Palpatine's, in the Star Wars movies to date. You know WHO he is and WHAT he represents; with TPM and AOTC and eventually, Ep III, you get to see how it started.

I want to see the continuation of the story, their search and what places it takes them. More details of the cylons and what is the true purpose of their existence, seeing answers to the mysteries we were left.

Showing Apollo, Starbuck, Boomer, Sheba, and prob Cassie with 25 years experience, now in more leadership roles interacting with a younger group of front liners. I'd want to see the Galactica maintained with the same look and technological feel of the dorky 70s technology. The Egyptian influences and ancient historical references should also be paramount.
Personally, I'd like to see the first new continuations to confront the characters with new enemies and settings. If more shows were made, the Cylons (the real Cylons) should come back in a very big way.

Thanks every one for the great input. I'm doing an audio play because another project has stalled do to an illness of one of the participants but my goal is to have something for the fans by the Time the 25th roles around and rest assured, it has all to do with the original and nothing to do with sci fi's mini mess.
It won't be nothing new in the sense of what has been talked about on this forum because it is a combo of Ideas but it will be a continuation in the form of audio and when the other project gets finished and it's almost done now, we will have even more.
