Default An Interesting Tidbit.

I was reading a TV Guide artical in a store and found that Enterprise is failing because the TOS fanbase is so peeved by the death of Kirk that they will not tune in. This sounds familiar to the predicament we face with TOS Galactica. Moore totally ignored the fans and promised that this would be a show that we would recognize as Galactica. I have my glasses on and can't see a resemblance to the show I loved and still do love.

Default What is the connection?

Generations came out years ago. What does that have to do with Enterprise?

On that subject...was it really Moore who cam eup with the idea to kill Kirk? If so, how to explain the surge of Trek fans to his defense?

No. Enterprise is failing cause it's a crap show that does nothing more than rehash everything that's been done before in Trek.

The death of Kirk has little, if anything, to do with it.

Good afternoon, gentlemen. I am a HAL 9000 computer. I became operational at the H.A.L. plant in Urbana, Illinois on the 12th of January 1992. I watched my first episode this week for the first time in nearly 3 months. I thought i was watching Star Trek 6 for a while.

At least they could create new content

Stargate

Sometimes, though, it is nice to be able to see something familiar and turn off your brain.......

Default Enterprise

Hey,

I guess I'm in the minority here. I actually like Enterprise. Yes, it has some flaws, but it has more classic Trek nods than the other shows had, and it'll be cool to see the Tholians in their insect-like forms in upcoming episodes. My prediction is they'll resemble the preying mantis-like forms of the bugs in Starship Troopers when they do them.

Don't get me wrong, I'd have rather seen Sulu on Excelsior, but this show is okay.

I didn't say I didn't enjoy it, Ken. It just seems a little flat and predictable most of the time.

For example, look at last Wednesday's episode. It was a direct 'ripoff' (for lack of a better term) of the Kirk/McCoy trial in Final Frontier - except it was oversimplified (no spoken Klingon, for example) - although it was fun to see JD Hertzler again.

IMHO, what they should be concentrating on is the first contact experiences with the species that were friends and enemies in TOS - Andorians, Tholians, Romulans, etc. - and for pete's sake quit making Archer a hero with the Klingons - remember that they hated all humans in Kirk's time.

OK, that's my Star Trek rant - I'm going to start thinking about BSG again.
