Does anyone know????
Vitreous Detachment - separation of the vitreous gel from the back of the eye - a common occurrence that can result in sudden floaters and occasionally causes a tear in the retina.
I had to bring my Mom to the eye doctor for this today. Has anyone suffered from this or had a parent that has this. She has to go back in six weeks for another checkup.

Kingfish,
I haven't had this particular condition but, do have an occasional floater. My folks have had the "other" eye problem, i.e., cataracts.
Best wishes for your mom.

I have a very high perscription which puts me at high risk for it. So far, tho, all I get are the "flashes" and the floaters.

I've heard of it. The occasional floater is nothing to worry about because it's just bits of the vein that fed the cornea prior to birth floatingaround in the vitreous gel of your eye. It's when you get a lot of them appearing from nowhere that you have to worry.
Sounds nasty though, don't it? I know it's a cliché, but my prayers and best wishes are with your mother.

She is seeing more floaters and has an appointment with a specialist Monday.
