Default Greetings, programs...

Hi all,

I was referred over here by ernie90125 after stumbling across his wonderful Battlestar fan film site.

I'm rummaging around having a look at all the good stuff contained within, when lo and behold, I run across some of my old BSG Lightwave models You might notice some meshes in the downloads section credited to H. Gibbons - that's happens to be me.

I made those meshes in the closing years of the last century! They were initially on my original website, then made their way to Battlestarpegasus.com. Now it seems that they have taken on a life of their own and turned up here. As glad as I am to see them still available, they are from an earlier time and are looking a little long in the tooth compared to some of the fine work available in the here and now. Then some might say the same of me...

It seems you can never quite outrun your past

Actually, after doing a little archeology through my collection of back up CDs, I might have something for you... Just need to convert from it's decidedly defunct Iomega Buz M-JPEG format.
I'll warn you it's old and daggy

Wow. The H. Gibbons, eh? I say this because your work has been one of my inspirations over the last few years. As for your Galactica meshes, like them because they're low poly and I have an old computer. I love some of the newer ones too, but yours are near to my heart because they don't take a year to render.

Hey H! Same Warrior here that you talked to at SF-M

I run this here joint As well as 3D Gladiators.

Keeping your timeless stuff available is a requirement, I say!

Little humbling to find that my work has inspired others. I can relate to the problems with render times. Seems that the size of the models we work with often seems to outpace the capacity of the software/hardware we have

Warrior:
Good to see you again. Congratulations on an excellent site.
Between the Draconian Marauder and the BSG meshes, the last couple of weeks have been a real blast from the past for me. I should get out from under my rock more often

Ok, we know you've been doing great models for years (I've downloaded more than a few over the past few years) now let's see some artwork.

Would some of my original artwork from the same period as the models count or are you looking for some new stuff

If it's new stuff you're after, then I'll probably need to look at updating some of those models first

Hey H, make the blast from the past complete- Old images as well as new stuff.

I don't think a large part of our crowd has seen your older stuff

Old stuff its is then - new stuff to follow in a little while...

I'll aim to upload the images to the gallery. This is my 5th post so hopefully that should give me permission to upload from what I've read on the gallery guidelines...

You might need a few more posts. However, I'm definitely in that crowd that either hasn't seen your old stuff and, if I did, doesn't remember most of it, so bring it on. And I know you used to do Trek stuff too, so if you want to share some of that, bring it over to Warrior's other site www.3dgladiators.com

Is your name spelles H. Gibbons?? Because I've also seen H. Gibbens and H. Gibbins on various web sites. You might want to tell them they've got it spelled wrong.

Here is a link to some older art, as seen on the Battlestar Pegasus website using the Wayback Archives :

http://web.archive.org/web/200012140...ens/index.html

sadly not all images on the page are visiable through this link. However, this is only the BP site on one particular day. If you go the the homepage of Wayback and do a fresh search other 'lost' images by loads of people may be found !

evil_genius_180:

The actual spelling is Gibbens. I've sort of gotten used to being a well known typing error. I did some a small amount of CG work for a local feature film and ended up as 'Gibbons' in the credit role, I think that's the more common version of the spelling...

I just want to give the right you credit in my work with your models. I thought the one on STMC was really wierd since your ReadMe on your Reliant mesh has your name spelled correctly but the web page has it spelled Gibbins.

An animation by H (monodox) has been added to the SHORTS page on www.battlestarfanfilms.com under the title A 20 Year Odyssey. I hope there may be more to follow
