Galactica Likes and Dislikes

I have a real soft spot in my heart for the original Battlestar Galactica. When I was a kid the 3 hour premiere film blew me to the back of my living room and I waited impatiently for each weekly episode.

Today, I feel the same way about the new BSG. It is, in my opinion, the best weekly drama on television. But sometimes I really miss certain aspects of the original show and I wish they had been incorporated into the new one.

I have a list of likes and dislikes for each show that I plan to post, but first I'd like to hear from some of you. So, I ask fellow members to list one LIKE and one DISLIKE from EITHER or BOTH versions of Galactica.

After I few people have posted, I'll add my (rather long) list, then we can let the debates begin! But please check your sidearms at the door. Debating is fine, but let's not have weapons fire...it'll scorch the bulkheads.

And while I'm thinking of it, Happy New Year (or is it Yahren?) Everyone!!! Here's to a great 2006!

First, Craig, let me welcome you to CF. We've got a great group of people here who are a lot of fun, and know a lot about a bunch of different things.

Just watch out for the beavers trying to sell yellow kool-aid.......

However, not long ago the decision was made to focus our BSG discussions on the original series. After a long, tempestous period where we tried to be all things to all people, it was decided that we would instead support our first love - the original Battlestar Galactica.

The main focus of this site is art - the learning, practicing and perfection of the art of Battlestar Galactica. In that discussion we welcome art from almost any inspiration, even "GINO" (just keep in mind we're a family site), but other discussions regarding BSG are limited to the 1978 universe - and a continuation of that universe.

The discussion you propose here is beyond that restriction.

If you want to nitpick, or re-write, or build on the original episodes, head over to the "Last Battlestar-Galactica" forum. It's all there, and we'd welcome you to join in those exchanges.

Thanks for the heads-up on the topic. I thought (erroneously) that since there are a few things relating to the new show on this site that it might be a fair topic. But since it's not, I'll check out the "Last Battlestar" thread and see what's happening there.

Again, I appreciate the input. There's nothing worse than a rookie pilot flying off in the wrong direction.
