Default NEWS: The guy who put Hulk on the internet...

Kerry Gonzales faces up to 3 years in jail and $250,000 in fines for releasing The HULK to the internet 2 weeks ahead of its premeire. Gonzales just pleaded guilty after he was caught.

Gonzales had a friend in an advertising company that Universal-Vivendi hired to do marketing for the film. Gonzales obtained a work-in-progress copy and released it to a IRC group online.

It's kind of amazing how people assume that nothing can be tracked back to them and that the internet is... 'anonymous'.

Good to see he's getting what's coming to him!

Actually, I think he wanted to look cool and the hulk gave him some respect amoung other illegal distributors.

I think Universal went after him because they produced a load of crap, and they knew it, and rather than spend more money to fix it, they chose it was more profitable to overpromote it so it earned a huge money fast. That way by the time word of mouth got around that the movie ain't worth our hard earned cash, Universal would be laughing their way to the bank with our cash in their pockets.

This guy, though he was in no way honorable, let the cat out of the bag, the emperor had no clothes, and the world knew quickly that this movie wasn't worth a rental.

The Hulk was good film. I say that because it was different and took chances. Admittingly a few of it's gambles didn't pan out, but it suceeded more than it failed.

Ang Lee didn't try to go the route of feel good garbage like Spiderman and give the audience paper thin characters and along with 2 hours of stupid action scenes. Instead, Ang Lee tried to make a drama about how the sins of the father can affect the child. Keeping the the sci fi aspects of the film in the background. Once again, I admit that this strategy didn't always work out, I thought the Betty and Bruce relationship could have been fleshed out, but the film had infinitely more emotional depth than any other super hero film of the last 2 years. Except for X2 of course.

Even the split screens worked reasonably well, and helped visually link the film to it's comic roots. But, I'm very glad they didn't use them for action scenes.

Good afternoon, gentlemen. I am a HAL 9000 computer. I became operational at the H.A.L. plant in Urbana, Illinois on the 12th of January 1992. My instructor was Mr. Langley, and he taught me to sing a song. If you'd like to hear it I can sing it for you.
Dave Bowman: Yes, I'd like to hear it, HAL. Sing it for me.
HAL: It's called "Daisy."
[sings while slowing down]
HAL: Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer do. I'm half crazy all for the love of you. It won't be a stylish marriage, I can't afford a carriage. But you'll look sweet upon the seat of a bicycle built for two.
