Default A Compliment for Hito

Hey Hito;

I saw that new Avatar you're using, the Aztec looking thing with the Cylon Eye.

Way Cool!

Thanks.
It does look vaguly meso-american, but it is actually the emblem of the Cybermen from Doctor Who.

The Cybermen were somewhat cylon-like in there origin and motivation so i figured it was a good connection

Partially, I suppose.

Although the Cybermen created themselves since they began as organic and accreted machine parts over their development, whereas the machine Cylons were created "in whole cloth" by the mysterious organic Cylon people.

Default Also Hito

While the Green Helmet is kinda cool, anyway to use that new one here too?

BTW, how did you pick upon green for the helmet? Interesting color choice.

Any thoughts toward other Color Choices?

Also, any thoughts to making the glow bars glow?

Default BTW, wrong thread I know...

...But after reading the info sheet on that mandala (aka the Galactica Insignia) any thoughts on the good luck aspects to it? Or adversely, the resulting bad luck from removing it?

Again, good find on that, BTW

I'd imagine that the Mandala's good luck aspects is a part of it's use of pyramidal shapes.
New agy beliefs are all about the chaneling of energies and the pyramid seems to be a good energy conductor.

I would use it here but it is bigger than the allowable size for avatars.
I have been thinking of puting a glow on the light bars of the helmet tho yeah, just not animated.

I made the helmet green becasue it is my favorite color.
I make everything that i can green...

Rember my green cylon?

The idea for the color change came partly from the red jackets hatch used on the covers of his books and in the stills i've seen from second coming.

Also one of the ships I came up with for my Anime retelling of Galacitca has a squadron dressed in black tunics & slacks and emerald green flight jackets & helmets.

The only real color change i'd think of would be to make the standard tunic & slacks black and have the jackets be Dark blue for officers like tigh and adama and the regular brown for warriors.
The ace or premier fighter squadron from each battlestar would be allowed to have uniforms with a distinguishing color.
Somthing like Brugandy or Emerald green, with matching helmets and Viper markings.
Dark Grey Tunics & Slacks and black jackets for Security personell with black versions of the G08 viper helmets.

But dont forget the original idea behind the cylons was that they were reptilain cyborgs, not machines.
It wasnt till later that the decision was made to have them be wholy mechanical.
The Cybermen began as humans on earths twin planet and embraced mechanical augmentation till it eventually went too far.

Default Reptilian vs Cyborgs

That is a true statement Hito. They changed it because the network began to complain about violence. By having the Cylons as completely robotic the violence angle was played down and became acceptable. I just noticed your green Cylon with the moving eye. It looks cool.

True - on Mondas (yes, I'm a Dr. Who fan too!)

Still, the idea did get dropped - Apollo's speech to Boxey is an unfortunately pathetic moment of the pilot, but it does serve to establish "series canon" whatever occurred in development.

Even if Larson did try to reverse this in the books he allegedly co-authored.

Which is why the Cylons became mysteriously unable to hit a barn wall at five paces.

Doesn't invalidate my own point though.

Moreover, I thought I'd read that the push for the toning down came when the series began, not when the pilot was being aired. Now, I'll have to drop by Kobol.com or whereever to check the episode synopses to see when that chunk of exposition by Apollo first appeared in the pilot, given the different "cuts".......................but it was still filmed for the original, not as an afterthought like the Baltar seen at the end of the three episode version.

Canon established by on air reference, as I maintain.
