Sad day for all of his fans.
He lived a good long life though.
R.I.P., Mr. Doohan.

This is, indeed, a sad day for science fiction fans.
I shall mourn.
Be at peace, Jimmy Doohan.

I meet him two at different star trek conventions. He was one of the best actors that star trek ever had.
I will miss him.

Rest In Peace, Jimmy.
I also got to meet him twice, and he was quite the character. Truly a sad day for Trek fans.
Respectfully,

He was one of the good ones
Thankfully he was at ease with his Star Trek persona and able to happily embrace still being that character all these years later.

Although not completely unexpected, the news is still shocking.

FLEET! A-TEN-TION! ALL HANDS SALUTE!
Stand down, Mr. Scott. The engines can take care of themselves for awhile.
Mr. Doohan, thank you for all the years entertaining us. We will never watch another space sci-fi show without thinking of you. They all have chief engineers now and are all inspired by your work.

21-gun salute and a minute of silence, please.
Captain-Engineer Montgomery Scott, rest in peace.
[Begin military-like obit]
Starfleet Captain-Engineer Montgomery Scott's first love was his first assignment as Chief Engineer, while he was a Lieutenant Commander, aboard USS ENTERPRISE (NCC-1701). He also served as Chief Engineer on the successor USS ENTERPRISE (NCC-1701-A), and briefly as Captain-Engineer of USS EXCELSIOR (NX-2000, later NCC-2000). Captain Scott was an exceptionally canny engineer, but he was well-known during the latter stages of his career not so much for his engineering skills but for his role in preventing the assassination of the Federation President at Khitomer. He witnessed the launch of the third USS ENTERPRISE (NCC-1701-B). Upon retirement, Captain Scott boarded USS JENOLEN enroute to a retirement colony when JENOLEN encountered the first-known Dyson Sphere and accidentally crashed. Captain Scott ingeniously stored himself in the transporter of JENOLEN, and was rescued seventy-five years later by the crew of the fifth USS ENTERPRISE (NCC-1701-D). Captain Scott later devised a way to rescue the fifth ENTERPRISE from the inside of the Dyson Sphere.
On Stardate 20057.20, Starfleet Captain-Engineer Montgomery Scott passed away peacefully at the age of eighty-five.

I hate to do this to you, and in this of all places. But the Enterprise-A had Scotty as Chief Engineer. It featured in the end of Star Trek IV - VI

He was quoting our favorite engineer from his appearance on TNG. The line was from a sauced Scotty making sure that the computer understood exactly which Enterprise he wanted recreated on holodeck.

No worries. We Trek Geeks have to stick together in the dark territories of a Battlestar Galactica message board.
