That "diving bell" also had a few appearances on another Irwin Allen show... I can think of two episodes in the first season of Lost in Space that I know that I saw it in.
The first time the diving bell appeared, it was in the episode "The Raft". It was being used as the reactor chamber for the Jupiter 2. The Robinson family was cannibalizing it as a lifeboat to send 2 people back to earth.
The other episode that the bell was in was titled "A Change of Space". This time, the bell was made over as an alien spacecraft in which Will Robinson makes a faster-than-light trip and returns with his intelligence greatly enhanced.
I will say one thing about Irwin Allen - he sure did make excellent use of his props! I'll bet it saved him a lot of money at times...
Best regards,
Bryan

I didn't know it was a movie prop, I always thought that was a retired diving bell that sat on that roof. It doesn't look as good today as it does in those pictures.

I liked both the film and the series. My brother had the Seaview toy (large and it floated). The flying sub was my favorite item on the show. The only down side to the series was the oft used Creature from the Black Lagoon suit, painted red. But mostly I did like the show.

Hey my lovable daggit friend,
funny you should mention the flying sub, I built a cg model of it in my computer.
http://www.vttbots.com/flying_sub_links.html
Its the top center one.
I hope you like it!
---------------------------------
So how many people enjoyed the black and white shows?
I actually prefer them storywise to the color ones. Though of course you don't get all the cool stuff like the flying sub until the color episodes (I think). The tv episodes have a redesigned bridge set that looks a little cooler and links up to the observation front better. Unfortunately, that design means the periscope is horrible mismatched to the model. But cie la vie!

Is that the same suit? Didn't mean to say it was bad Kingfish, I liked the first time they used it. I was just remembering how they used it a bunch of times afterwards.
Cheers,

That was a different episode. The Fishmen and The Amphibians were two of the episodes that used the same costume from Creature From The Black Lagoon. By the way Muffit they are making a new version of Creature From The Black Lagoon.

Thanks for the news Kingfish! Hmm, ya know, I kinda get mixed emotions about this. Part of me says, cool, and part of me wants original b/w flicks to remain remembered the way they were. Ah, life would be so much easier without choices!

I liked the attack of the killer toys! Remember those?
I also liked the Giant Whale attack one, or was there more?
Skiffy was showing this for awhile, and I was excited cause it gave me tons of info to build my meshes. I was waiting for the last season cause that is when they built the flying sub exterior shell for location shots. BUT SKIFFY CANCELLED THE RERUNS! Bad Skiffy! Stupid Skiffy! EVIL Skiffy!
Btw- kingfish- what is that avatar? I can't makei it out. Maybe you can make it bigger?

That is the Eagle from Space 1999. If I enlarge it the image becomes grainy.

I'm glad someone asked because I was feeling really dumb. I'm still not sure I see it, is the front/cockpit section to the left?
