Wink New Drug removes hangovers!

RU21. It a new product. Its a drug that helps you metabolize alcohol. The end result is that it reduces the hangover afterwards and reduces the longterm damage to your body!

RU21... a drug so aptly named, DOES do that! It was originally researched by the KGB. But now you can buy it too.

From http://www.ru21.com
Quote:
RU-21 is an all-natural supplement that has been clinically proven to naturally assist the body's ability to metabolize alcohol and prevent the buildup of acetaldehyde, a cancer-linked byproduct of alcohol metabolism. Findings will be published in British medical journal Addiction Biology.

Acetaldehyde is believed by modern science to be the main cause of all alcohol-related diseases, including various types of cancer, liver cirrhosis, premature skin aging, mutagenesis (damage to DNA cells), post-intoxication syndrome (hangovers), as well as development of alcoholism.
This round is on the house!

Looking over the science at the RU21 Russian homepage, one thing that stands out to me, is that the compound will lengthen the amount of time that ethyl alcohol will remain in your system.
I cannot tell from the data published at that source just how pronounced an effect this would be, and would probably vary greatly from person to person, it is something to keep in mind. I suspect that taking this on the assumption that you will be hangover free might distort the natural rate of alcohol elimination, while encouraging excessive consumption.

In terms of acting on the acetylaldehyde, it looks sound. It should slow the production of acetylaldeyde while prolonging the presence of alcohol, and more rapidly break acetylaldehyde into acetic acid once the alcohol is processed.

One hangover factor that this might not touch is the effect of "fusel alcohols." Just as some sugars are larger than others, and take longer for the body to process, the same is true for alcohols.

Interesting product, but I figure my naturally brewed beer should have enough b complex vitamins, and enough alcohol to start with, that hangovers are not an issue for me.

Two glasses of water and some asprin always worked for me, back in my wild and crazy twenties. But, that is a very interesting article.

Very interesting response DM!

The show I saw this on mentioned that after testing this out they did feel slightly more buzzed than normal, so you probably are dead on on the alcohol being more persistant in your system.

UWW- YUP. Water is stilll a must. Lotsa water always helped me. When I was smart enough to drink water.
