Thumbs up Potemkin's art

OK, hi all I have posted these two new rendering of the Galactica, the first of a series based on the episodes of the TOS, both of these are a WIP and I would like any feed back, good and bad.
What I am working for is atmosphere and feel in the pic, I am not good enough for detail at the moment.

This is one that I have called "Fleet head out" Inspired stuff heh? well it a start I have been thinking of placing another Battlestar in the back ground at a greater distance??

Potemkin....

These are excellent attempts, and I wish you all the best with your work...

I could never do something like this...I acknowledge my own limitations !!!!

Would you mind one piece of critism ? Your basestar isn't right at all, it looks like it is made of Lego...

Excellent work though....

ernie90125: braxiss: martok2112.
thanks guys, ernie I don't mind any critisms at all, and I agree with you, the basestar is not great, no there, i say it, crap.

But its a start , I really need to get more RAM for my pc before I can progress. It takes hours for the pictures to render. In truespace.. in order for my computer to work, the meshes have to be in wire frame mode, so I am not quite sure what picture look like before it rendered.

and some times my PC runs out of memory (In RAM that is).
My main intrest is in the Galactica how does it look, does it have a sense of scale
and power.

I am not very good at adding the decals to the vipers or raiders:ie the markings
for the wings. it just does not work for me I not sure what im doing wrong? i need help here.

The Background images are cool too. If you have not checked out Andrews site. you should, it all startrek and the images are fantastic. you can down load meshes from there also.

http://www.startrekaustralia.com/

again thanks, I have more pictures in minded, and i will be starting them in the new year (this is my Busiest time of the year in work) and once i have more RAM.
I am going do a series of pictures chronicling the events in the TOS, so between writing my first fanfic and script, looking into the animation project, and an older project with westy, and rendering. life etc etc I am a very busy.
I WILL KEEP YOU INFORMED

I think you should add a little anti aliesing to give it a softer look. the meshe was designed with fillets and rounds so it should be no problem. They look very noce so far and I look forward to the next

Cool

Feh, everyone i know is planning to get a new PC this year! or upgrade without letting the highstreet sharks, rip them off.

So yeah, i plan on doing that myself sometime this year too. a new PC with enough RAM to handle some of the software programs i've got but can't use with the PC i have right now?

Video editing programs, DVDROM player etc.

KJ

Sweet dude!

Any time someone tackles Galactica for their art it's a good thing. Add to that, you're making something different and unique, I have to say its impressive. So what do we have here? Perhaps another Battlestar design, maybe a major refit?
