Ron and Dave both admitted that they changed things to spark fan outrage. It was a method of getting attention for their project. Ron also admitted including things as jabs at specific people. I don't agree with the technique but it is what it is.
Having said that, I do admire a lot of the promotional efforts that they used with GINO. Although I didn't care for the show, some of their efforts to reach out to potential fans and continue interest were pretty inspiring. Ron and Dave are of entirely different breeds and I sincerely doubt Ron would do half of the stuff he did now if he had the chance to do it all again. He was learning and experimenting to some degree and in some ways, reacting to his critics. That's always a bad move, especially since few of his critics really ever had his best interests at heart.
