Does anyone know how many people watched the original pilot when it was first broadcast in 78 ?

I'm being told 60 million or 65 million ?

Thanks....

I remember they hyped it like mad for a couple of months before the premiere. So much hype in fact that the network was using BSG clips for the little network Id(whatever you call it) clip that they all tend to play a few times an hour. It was absolutely the biggest thing on TV that night, I doubt its ever been eclipsed percentage wise, maybe the Apollo 11 landing or something like that.

If memory serves, the final episode of M*A*S*H was, and maybe still is, the highest watched show, ever.

Regarding Galactica, I've heard that 65 million figure tossed around also and I've also heard that it applied to actual viewers, not households. Considering a conservative estimate of 1.5-2.0 viewers per household, you would need to have about 30-40 million households to get the 65 million number.
