Avatar, the last Airbender
My son discovered this little gem on Nick on Friday nights.
Basically, the show is about a 12-13yo boy, the avatar (think the Dhali Lama with elemental powers) who was frozen for 100 years and freed by a young brother and sister. While the avatar was on ice, the world was conquered by "the fire nation" and prophecy predicts that the avatar will return and free the other nations from the fire nations rule. Basically the show is about the adventures of this young boy and his friends as he learns to fill these big shoes. It's got plenty of action, is story driven (ie:not trying to sell toys) and has a spry sense of humor. It's heavy on the sino-japanese motifs but is very well written and a pleasure to watch. Definitely worth checking out.
