Discussion of background music
There have been numerous discussions over the years regarding the various versions of the theme songs, but not much about the background music, except for the little melodies that played for Serina, Cassiopeia and Sheba.
I liked the haunting Gregorian chant that was played in "Lost Planet" and "Greetings." I also liked the little clicking sounds that were made to correspond with the rhymes in "The Young Warriors."
What do the rest of you like or dislike?
Does anyone know who performed the background music, or what instruments were used?
Mary

Re: Discussion of background music
Always loved the opening credits music, showing the title and introducing the cast. It was so short and almost incidental, it never really got the respect it deserved in the various soundtrack releases over the years. I still have yet to see it on a CD release, although it may have in recent years and I just missed it.

Re: Discussion of background music
It is extremely rare to find "incidental" music on soundtracks. (I can't really think of any soundtracks that contained those quick passages.)
However, upon thinking on Gebirg's previous statement, the incidental music that introduced the episodes can be found within one of the larger tracks on the previous Galactica soundtracks....I think when the RTF is being gathered and assembled.

That piece of music is on the recent Lost Planet of the Gods/Gun on Ice Planet Zero soundtrack under 'Main Title – Parts 1 & 2' and 'Main Title'.

Re: Discussion of background music
Some of my favorite background music are some of the tracks used in The Magnificent Warriors episdode. It's the music playing in the space bar/gambling den there in Serenity where Starbuck plays pyramid. A couple of the titles are Starbuck's Luck and A Smokin' Band. They are found on the old 4 CD set of episode music...

What about what was on the jukebox, in the bar of Equellus?

Ziggy Stardust?
Or, was Martin just a cover name for Major Tom?

Re: Discussion of background music
Favourite background music would be that for Living Legend (such as the use of the theme during the parachute drop) or Hand of God (Sheba and Apollo scene on the raider). Though, as they say, it's all good.

Re: Discussion of background music
I think the music on the jukebox on Equellus was a distorted version of Scott Joplin's "Solace." You can hear the "real" version on "The Sting" soundtrack.
