Default Mixed (but mostly good) news from Martok

Well, folks, my friend had spoken with one of our apartment building managers back in Metairie.

This is the report we got.

Neither of our apartments were looted.

Sadly, a lady who lives in the very first apartment you come to on the left was looted. Such a nice lady, and she gets looted by punks! It wasn't just food and necessities they stole either. They stole her VCR, a computer, her modem, and other high value electronics. I would love to meet these people so I could give them a good thrashing!!!

Also, a pressure hose in the building's laundry room had been stolen.

Back to our apartments, there was water effect in our ceilings (mine was confined to the living room, thank God). Also, there is mold growing in the apartments. So, it will probably be another month before we get to go back to our apartments.

But knowing that our stuff is generally intact is a blessing. I am glad I had the forethought to store my stuff away in closets and pantries.

My friend has a few guitars that may suffer warping as a result of heat and coolness changes in his apartment. I hope that will not be the case.

That's the news from my end so far.

Thank the lords that you didn't loose to much my friend.

Question for ya Steve, what do you think of the cold evenings in Duluth!

Good news, Steve.

About the guitars, were they electric or acoustic?

Glad to hear your apartment is somewhat intact!! It seems that disasters bring out the Worst in some People!!

Word of advice on the MOLD... be sure that all surfaces are checked & Throughly cleaned... that stuff has a VERY bad Habit of getting in the walls... it will soak through the sheetrock... and can cause Extreme Health Risk!!

I'm sure the cleanup will be carefully done, may the Lords of Kobol watch over you in your time of Need.

We'll be sure to have a Patrol Watch over your Place Until your Return....

SEE YOU ON THE FLIGHT DECK

Thanks all for the kind words.

Titon, my friend, let's just say, I am no stranger to cold in Duluth or Superior. I used to live in Superior before I moved to LA, and I had endured the last winter here.

BST, there were accoustic and electric guitars back there. Hopefully they will not have suffered any warping.

Considering that I packed my PC's and other electronics in relatively safe places, I hope that they have not developed any mold.

Haveke, I'm sure they will do a thorough cleanup to make sure the apartments are fully and safely habitable before they give the "come on home" signal. Apparently, five people have already move back in.

Thanks for the patrol. We have 'em on scanners.

Respectfully,
Martok2112

Maybe the people in the Apartment building who didn't suffer can help the lady who was looted. Too bad they weren't caught.

Possibly within a month.

My friend's little indiscretion kinda fracked things up for me. I will be stuck up here, at least a month. But, if they slam him with a heavy sentence....I will leave, with or without him. Sorry, but I've done all I can for him.

Steve,

It could always be worse... say you get ready to move back in and find a BIG 'Ole 15 ft. Gator living in your Apartment.... does that Mean you Need to "Polietly" ask your New Roommate to pay 1/2 the Bills???

My cousin is an Independant Insurance Adjustor, and he's definately gonna be kept busy with Working on just some of these Claims.

The good thing is that you are Safe...

I can remember How Bad it was when Our water pump on the washing machine went out & we had to pull out all the "Old" Carpet... Guess those Water Restoration Companies are gonna be working for a LONG, LONG Time...

Take Care...

Jay
