Another cable miniseries launched strong Monday, with Sci Fi Channel's "Battlestar Galactica" drawing 3.9 million viewers. While second only to Spike TV's "WWE Raw" on basic cable that night, the debut paled in comparison with the first installments of past Sci Fi miniseries, including "Steven Spielberg Presents Taken," which premiered around the same time last year, and "Frank Herbert's Dune."

Everyone was predicting that this mini would completely tank on the second night, and more people watched than the first night??
That is very unusual in the business. Networks always count on audience drop off on the second night of any show, industry standard.
Seems they have a series.

I wouldn't trust them as far as I can throw them. If there were any way to rig the numbers, they would, believe me. I shall remain skeptical.

Methinks some people left their cable boxes on Sci-Fi by accident.

Well, I'm sure this will make the miniseries fans happy...
Quote:
Sci Fi, on the other hand, is ecstatic over the performance of "Battlestar Galactica." Its average audience is the third-best in the channel's history, trailing earlier miniseries "Taken" and "Dune." After drawing just under 3.9 million people for Monday's premiere, "Galactica" averaged 4.46 million viewers Tuesday.
Tuesday's installment was the most-watched show on cable for the night and also beat broadcast networks UPN and The WB in total viewers. It was Sci Fi's best night of the year in total viewers and all key demographics.

A 3.5/3.8 is big??! And compared to those channels? Gimmie a break! You guys are all talking yourself into something you don't believe in. You're settling for something instead of demanding TPTB get off their astrums and do some work.

If the networks goal was a 3.6 rating and they got a 3.8 and the advertisers bout in based on a 3.6, then yes it was good.
And what would be the possible motivation to fix the numbers. To piss off the fans??? This is a business. They would decide to spend millions of dollars to make a show for a nonexistent audience?? Why? Trying to lose money? That's just not the way Hollywood or for that matter business of any kind works.
