What Happened to Furrlings?
In the first season of Stargate, when Jack O'Niell got the ancient mojo zapped into his head, the Asguard revealed to him that mankind was on its way to being the FIFTH race.
There were FOUR great races. The Asguard. The Ancients. The Nox. And the Fuhrlings.
Stargate Atlantis just left our galaxy and won't be returning for a looong time. So we probably won't have any stories about the Furrlings there. Stargate SG1 may or may not be ending soon.
I have to ask.....Who the heck were the furrlings?!?!??!

Tom -
That was the first time I'd seen this episode for myself - I only saw the 2nd time that Jack had the "Wisdom of the Ancients" poured into his brain...and that was recently.
I'll bet they forgot about THAT part of the episode - the Asgard even said that the Ancients had moved on from their galaxy. Where did they go and why?
I wonder who the Furlings(sp?) are too...... Somebody explain this stuff to me!!!!
I know - that's what I get for being a "casual" SG-1 viewer.... I never miss an episode now! Hell, I never got to see the battle at the Antarctic except in clips! I can't wait until they re-run THAT one!
Best,
Bryan

Basically they didn't show anything about the Fuhrrlings. They were mentioned in one other episode when they found a gateway for an old ancient race.(not THE Ancients, just an old race) But the people there had died off.
They had mentioned wanting to do a story about the Fuhrrlings. But I guess there aint going to be enough time left.

Although the Furlings were mentioned in other episodes, The Paradise Lost episode was the only one that had Furling writings and technology (the archway). The NID only discovered its whereabouts through a stone tablet written by the Ancients. The writers indicated that they won't do anymore Furling stories, so that race will remain a mystery. And nobody really knows why there was a need for the great alliance in the first place.
Some fanfics describe the Furlings as a "vampiric race" ( http://www.thefifthrace.net/malevolence.htm ). If true, then are the Wraith their offspring or a result of the Furlings genetic experiments? Interesting questions and speculations which only the show writers can explain in future episodes or movies.
BTW: There are rumors floating around about SG1 making a direct to video movie 1st to see how sales go before committing to a big screen SG1 movie.

I think that they are hiding in the Pegasus Galaxy and they might pop up on Atlantis.......They would also be a good draw if they decide to do to the big screen....Yes?....... No?

I believe that I read in an interview that they were probably not going to deal with the Furrlings. that was several seasons ago, and it seems that they've kept to that as yet. Perhaps, they may deal with them in SGA?
