Default New Sci Fi?

Since some of us are waiting official word on BGS03, has anyone heard of any new Sci-Fi series coming down the line?

I know that John Woo is making Lost in Space for the WB this Fall. There is also Stargate spin-off.

RUMOR: I did hear about a new version of the FLASH. Simular to Smallville but FLASH would be a college student instead.

Anyone know of anything else?

I forgot all about the Questor Tapes.
They are doing a full season for next year.
And yes, it will be in syndication.
Using the Roddenberry storyline, I think it will be one of the most innovative pieces of Sci-Fi programming out there.
On a lesser note (though sci-fi related), Adam Kane is coming back to Mutant X. This year has got to be the worst without the leader's presence. So at least the change on X will be a return to its first season premise.

Thanks Jewels.
You also reminded me of something else Gerry Anderson related, the Canadian remake of UFO done by the New Outer Limits/Poltergeist: The Legacy team.
UFO is also scheduled for a season run.

They wrote that mutant out at the end of Season 2.
At the start of Season 3, her dead body is carried away. Naturally its covered up so they would not have to pay the actress anything for reprising her role. Another more beautiful mutant took her place this year (Season 3).

Good lord, we've not mentioned DR. WHO. How could we forget the Gallifreyan timelord.

But Who won't be coming out until late 2005.
And a miniseries is being planned for Blake's 7 at that time too.
Could The Avengers be around the corner. I loved that sometimes sci-fi spy show from the 60s.

Wow, we have Brother Theodore in the house!

Good to see you man.

Everyone should check out his Caption Contest at the "banned site" MB.
I hope I maintain sobriety enough to get my entries in under the deadline today.

I checked out Blake7 website a couple of weeks ago. I have never see the show. Have they ever aired in the US?

As for Dr. Who, do you think Sci-Fi would pick it up to air in the US? I guess we're talking about 2 or 3 years down the line.

I read more on the Questor Tapes and what happened to it. I hope the stick with the image/story that Gene Roddenbery wanted. Although it seem that a copycat show is already on the air (Code Name: Eternity) except he is an alien on the run.

Did anyone see the League of Extraodinary Gentlemen? I did not like the movie as it was way over the top but the premise would make for a great series.

I saw Blake's 7 on PBS in the 80s in Ohio. Haven't seen it since.
I loved the show.
Production values were not elaborate, but I found it worth watching.
Seems they had some cast issues through its run.
Paul Darrow (?) as Kerr Avon made the show.

And Paul Darrow will be helming the miniseries.
He obtained the rights to do it.
So he will be reprising his role as Avon.

I bet the PBS stations that carried Dr. Who in the past (and present) would do it again. There are some pretty lucrative reasons for them to support that fanbase: they tend to support their own airtime and the syndication costs from Lionheart.

Thing is, why can't SciFi carry B7, or a Dr. Who marathon more often?

Darth -

Probably due to the same reasons they don't show Lost in Space, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Space:1999 or UFO. They would have to shell out fees to run those shows as they don't own the rights to them. Most of the shows they do run these days are either SciFi-made, or stuff that was made for USA Network. The only other classic stuff that wouldn't cost them much money is from Universal prior to the SciFi Channel being in existence. That's why we do get to see Battlestar Galactica & Buck Rogers from time to time. They should show a good oldie like Silent Running or something instead of showing the same stuff from the last 5 years...

Best regards,
Bryan

Oh, no! You mean there's a chance we could be looking at a Fireball XL-2005? Cool!!

Remember "That Thing You Do" with Tom Hanks, Liv Tyler, etc.? At one point they're in Dad's electronics store, watching a (black & white, of course) TV, and the opening sequence from Fireball XL-5 is showing? I wonder how many people saw that and went, "Hey, I remember that!" I mean, besides me!

Loved it nccdee! I thought it was terrific, so did my daughter. Connery was awesome. Funny how so many people didn't like it. Oh well...

Hi Thomas B! I loved Fireball so much I bought the DVD boxed set! It so /so much/ fun sharing it with my daughter. Yes, she bursts out laughing with the visible strings and goofy walking, but somehow it has kept its alluring charm after all these years! I'll have to check out that Hanks movie. Fireball 2005? Bring it on!!!

P.S. Even had the XL5 playset when I was young - saw it on EBay and it was skyrocketing at $350+...

DVD's are great and I am so happy that studio (in there quest for more money) have found that people are willing to pay money to buy old (classic) shows. Some even add etras.

I am looking forward to getting Space:1999.

One of thing I really like is that you can get old show like H.R. Puff N' Stuff and share them with your kids.

I believe the age of Saturday Morning Cartoon on TV is over. Does anyone remember the website Yesterdayland.com (unfortunately it closed last year). It had one of the largest listing of section (Saturday Morning Cartoon, Primetime TV, Music, Fashion, Movies, Toys) and divided into decades. They had pictures and reviews for each show/movies, etc. and links to where you could buy items (lunch boxes, games, video etc.). Now that was worth going down memory lane.

They might not be as good, but the following sites have some bare bones information on such old TV series:

tvtome.com
epguides.com

And I think the following sites are still up:

http://silentmoviemonsters.tripod.co...orld/LWTV.html
http://members.aol.com/Fri13Hour/vault.html

Odd, I could of sworn I had a link in there to a site with info on Ark II and Jason of Starcommand. *shrug*

I have some unfortunate news about the Blake's 7 revival - It appears that Paul Darrow has parted ways with the production company formed to create the new project, citing 'artistic differences' - Paul had come together with the original show's creator - the late Terry Nation, to develop ideas for a TV movie/mini-series. But after Terry's death, things have not gone so well (quote : "exploitation of a 'brand'" - sounds familiar.... this revival may be as controversial as Galactica 2003!)

For more info on the above, check out - http://www.horizon.org.uk/ - the UK Blake's 7 Appreciation Society.

http://www.blakes7.com/ - the official site for the new mini-series - with the provisional episode title 'Legacy'

All the best,

That's a shame.
I do know they have 13 hour episodes planned for Who in 2005.
It looks like 13 is the magic number these days for a sci-fi show, including Sci-Fi's BSG.
I will be getting my Fanderson magazine too & I should have a pretty good idea if UFO is also 13 or even 20.
