Starbuck Left Behind??
Hi All,
First time here. I just finished watching all of the episodes in the DVD box set. It's probably the first time I have watched any of them since I was a kid, but I seem to remember an episode where Starbuck got left behind on a planet while the fleet continued on. Is this just my imagination, or are there possibly episodes that were left out? Thanks.

Another who remembers "Galactica 80" and the last episode that had Starbuck left behind on that planet he crash landed on.The "Return of Starbuck" is the name of that episode and no it is not in the dvd set that came out.But if I hear one more inquiry about this, maybe Universal should reconsider putting "Galactica 80" on dvd.

That was the last completed episode of Galactica 1980 titled "The Return of Starbuck". Of course, that title seems a bit misleading since...he never really returned. It was released on VHS some years back by GoodTimes under the title Battlestar Galactica. You may be able to find a copy if you look around some used movie shops.
You know, that brings up a good question--does GoodTimes still have the rights to this episode? Or, better yet, all of Galactica 1980?

Thanks, everyone. And thanks for the welcome. Since this episode appears to be part of "Galactica 1980," I will treat it like I do the second "Highlander" movie...a bad dream. <smile>

OT: I hated the theatrical "Quickening" cut, but I really dug the "Renegade" director's cut of Highlander 2. Of course, I'm not sure what kind of "Renegade" cut could save the mini.

The weird thing is that Galactica '80 really ... was crappy, but "Return of Starbuck" was perhaps one of the best Battlestar Galactica eps. ever. It had that cool 'Enemy Mine' motif.
Personally I hope Galactica '80 never again sees the light of day on dvd, but 'Return of Starbuck' could be a one-shot deal. here's hoping.

Hi Vallarian, welcome to the board.
Re: G'80, I actually wouldn't mind owning it on DVD, I think though that on this board there is only Stevew and myself who will watch it!
Regards,
Peter

IMHO neither one was any good. I condider this the order of Highlander.
Highlander(uncut)
4 years later
Highlander: Final Dimension
(both need editing to include the series)
1 year later
The Series
7 years later
Endgame
I'm a HUGE fan of the series and of the films excluding any version of 2
But thats just me!

Count me in too! I didn't enjoy it all that much, but I wouldn't mind having it, at least as a bookend. And it wouldn't be that expensive since there are so few episodes. And besides, at least it was better that Space Rangers (which luckily only lasted 4 episodes).

Welcome Vallarian!
I kinda wouldn't mind having G80 (eeks! another weirdo! ), at least the Return of Starbuck ep, just for old time's sake. Bit of silly trivia, when G80 aired I had just gotten married and we had very little money to work with. Someone gave us a TV in time for G80, but it was messed up. The hot days made it overheat and the SCRs inside would shut the set down after a few minutes. My fix? I actually put /ice cube trays/ on top of the set to keep it cool so I wouldn't miss the show!!! (Don't laugh too hard, heck it worked!).
Talk about desperation! All that for a shadow of what BSG had been. Funny thing, that's what makes it a pleasant memory for me. Trying to watch and then poof! it shuts off, running for the cube trays and doing something so silly to fix it. Anywho, that's my bit of trivia from a much missed past...

I liked G80. No, I really did. As I have mentioned before, I'm not really demanding of my entertainment, I only ask that it entertain me, and G80 did that. For a plus, I was already a huge fan of Kent McCord, and it was nifty getting to know Dick Van Dyke's son. Sure the flying children were silly, but I still liked it, and I like it now, and I'd buy the DVD set if they ever decided to release one.
