Default It Can Be Fixed

It suddenly hit me that the mini could be fixed and very easily. It could even be a continuation of sorts. Let us say that the galactica did find Earth and inhabited the planet(TOS). Many Yahrens have past and the original crew is long dead. However their decendents are alive and well. The Galactica has been retrofitted as the new design we will see when the show airs. The Commander is a decendant of the original Adama aka William Husker Adama. The Galacticans use Earth names as they have adapted to their new surroundings. Kara Starbuck Thrace could be the great grandaughter of the original Starbuck. See what I mean? Now as to story: The Cylons have been defeated and have also evolved as android-like beings who can infiltrate human society(Number 6). Not all of the Galacticans however are pure and nobel as proven by the actions of one Dr Giaus Baltar who decides to betray his people like his long dead predeceesor Baltar. However this Baltar is motivated by SEX. Since time has past and the enemy defeated the people of Earth become lax and lazy. They even open a dialogue with the Cylons who want peace and an end to all hostilities with man. The Earthlings decide to go along with the notion and are decimated as the Cylons launch a devistating attack that obliterates the planet. The quest begins for a new world known as new Kobol. A rag-tag fleet is formed and the journey proceeds. These are just thoughts on how to make this new show watchable.

Next. Hhh, Crucifixion?

Good. Out of the door, line on the left. One cross each.

Miserable Bloody Cylons. No sence of humor.

(Whomp)

Ouch!

I'm sorry. Bit of a hurry. Can you go staight out? Line on the left, one cross each. Now...

The only way I feel this show could be watchable is by watching the film reels or videotape burn in a nuclear waste dumpster.

Default Legitimacy>>>

The only 'problem' I see with your "fix-it" scenario is that we would have to give legitimacy to the Sci-Fi travesty. That is something I will NEVER, EVER do!!!!

Long live the ORIGINAL!!!!

If we are talking a save-face, save the franchise for the future fix: yes, Kingfish you are right.

It's way too earth influenced with everything else and that would be a cheap solution: change the intro and timeframe and you would have reasons for the earth names and Colonial call signs.

The story is still lacking, but leaving the TOS undesturbed and open for other (ahem) options would be worth it.

But the coincidence factor of all the characters having names that roughly approximate people in their role would have to be dealt with.

I would do this:

KARA: When I met Lee, we thought it would be funny to saddle him with the call-sign Apollo. I mean...his father is named Adama, has a second in command named Tigh, being you, and our Adama commands our Galactica. It's too perfect. That kind of got the ball rolling, and Sharon took the name Boomer, and I took Starbuck.

TIGH: Yeah, but the original Starbuck and Boomer were men.

KARA: Ah, who cares?

TIGH: And the original Starbuck was polite, respected his superiors, and had more brains than balls.

Kara punches him.

OK, I'm not so great at parody.

You have a clever idea, but really the only way to fix it is to start over, and bring Hatch and larson on board.
That's my opinion -

The only thing that will fix this monster is about 600 pounds of solonite...at Mach 6!

Here's another thought, discussed a while back:

http://www.cylon.org/phpBB2/viewtopi...974&highlight=

Both ideas are similar and involve the Colonial survivors finding Earth and the storyline picking up some time after that. There is a lot of merit to both ideas and I, personally, would welcome any opportunity to save the Original storyline.

As it stands now, neither of these two scenarios will likely happen and perhaps it is better to let Skiffy have its "burp" on Dec 7 & 8 ( burp, as in bout of indigestion) and then, allow the crisis to pass.

After that, perhaps the new owners of Skiffy can be persuaded to place Skiffy on a normal diet of "science fiction", in order to avoid future occurrences of "indigestion".

shiningstar,

Glen Larson owns the rights to a "big screen"/movie production. But, I agree with the sentiment. Now, if he AND DeSanto AND Hatch could get together...hmmm....we might have the makings of a good story here!

Default BSG movie

You have said it BST! Wow what a production that would be! Larson DeSanto, and Hatch. I'd camp out just to get tickets to that.

We must not forget the IGNORE factor. As most of us have chosen to ignore G80 so why not BS03? This is Hollywood after all.

How about this slight change

Galactica has found Earth. But so did the Cylons. A lone Basestar, the first to find Earth ravages the earth. But the Earth is saved by the Galactica. Earth Unites with the Galacticans. We take in their fugitives. We use all of our resources to militarize the ragtag fleet. They manage to hold against the few advanced cylon baseships, but cylon reinforcements are expected. And the Galactica suffers massive damage.

Meanwhile the Terrans build their own force. Small ships. Then eventually as the war goes on they build a new fleet of battlestars. The new fleet led by a new Battlestar Galactica with next generation Vipers are vastly superior to the old Cylon Raiders Basestars. Cylons have not evolved. Human technology has. Cylons mere mass produce the same old designs. The Cylon war machine pays the price. The tide of the war turns in our favor as we begin to push the Cylons back past the planet Kobol to the original 12 colonies.

The cylons begin a new desperate strategy. They use mass destruction weapons to render planets uninhabitable rather than surrender them to the humans. And in a brutal despicable act, they destroy the source of the new human counterattack - earth!

And as we reach the 12 colonies to exterminate the Cylons, we find that the survivors of the 12 colonies are still alive but under Cylon rule. And rather than allow them to be liberated, the cylons destroy these worlds one at a time.

We end the war. To prevent the coninued genocide of billions we stop our advance. Instead we choose a strategy of containment of the cylons within the remaining Lost Colonies.

having lost the earth, the remainder of our people set up new colonies. Most of which on the planet Kobol.

A hundred years have past. The names of Apollo, and Starbuck, and Adama are legendary amoung the descendents of earth.

But mankind has gotten lax, our vigilance over the Cylon wanes, and the Cylons have learned to evolve.

Maybe the "WAY" it can be fixed is that the Gallactica returns to KOBOL ..........and reestablishes it's home .......The
people on the gallactica then are the descendents of the original warriers that would include commander william adama.

Everyone could get complacent and think that since the cylons were beaten before they were STILL beaten instead
of REGROUPING in order to destroy humanity ......THUS with the ATTACK on KOBOL would launch the GALACTIC Fleet once again in search of earth.

Just a thought.
