Starblecch!
The Starbuch chick is flat-out goony looking. She'll really be believable playing that role.
Looks like they finally released the name of the eye candy playing Number Sex… I mean number Six.

Sad, The original gals were so far better looking, these would not even be in the hunt. Vipers look good but I would expect that after 25yrs. Why don't they call it something else and let it stand on its own merits

Personally i want Olmos remarks to come back and bite him in the ass.
Time for a little humor!
Universal exec: The BG remake rating are in? hmmm 17 people in North America tuned in. Edward James Olmos come here please???
(Olmos seen sneaking away)
Exec : Hey get back here?
Edward: Er what?
Exec: You told people not to watch, but rather get the DVD of the original?
Edward: And
Exec: And AND, you idiot, ahh Jesus, look you Robotech looking Captain Gloval look alike, the DVD's sold out 5 million copies within weeks, but only 17 people watched the remake?
Another exec: Well actually, 10 board room members all agreed to leave their TV on to watch the channel while their were at work.
Exec: meaning?
The other exec: Only 7 people in North America watched sir?
(Edward James Olmos continues to escape)
All the board room Exec start having heart problems!
The other execs: what do we tell the guys in Las Vegas?
Another exec: What do you mean?
Head exec: We bet this script of Ron Moore's would blow 'em away.now i owe the mafia more money than before.
Another exec: Ahhh just put the blame on Bonnie Hammer as usual, she is our scape goat after all. Sent those worthless soap actors o the bottom of the heap, and tell Ron Moore i'll have an Ice soda, with fries, apple pie and a Whopper Jr to go.

Re: The helmet
Looks like the 2001 inspired helmet Captain Sheridan wore in the B5 movie Thirdspace!
Another rip-off rears its ugly head (and I don't mean Katee Sackhoff).

Um, what is sexy about the number Six chick? T'pol and 7of9 had some curves, so I understand that. BSG Dan--you pegged number 6's costume perfectly!
But Maren , Laurette, Anne and Jane could blow this lady off the soundstage in their day (and of them, the ones with more current photos available STILL would have this woman beat. Am I wrong about that???)

Christ on a bike, it is more BG news that you care to admit o.k. quite frankly you can't fix galactica 2003 cos it's a remake i ain't interested in fixing anymore.
News is news but knock it off already. i'll post news in other forums if need be. DO YOU WANT TO CONTROL US AS WELL!

AGAIN. the GO3 discussion thread is for G03 fixing it and discussion of the remake news items.
BSG discussion is for TOS BSG and everything continuation oriented.
If you put it in the right place we won't move it on you. Learn the new system my dear, it has advantages!
And do not ever refer to this as Draconian or compare us to skiffy.
We are your comrades.

Why in god's green earth would i? i placed in the discussion forum to be discussed, if you abuse the power you have it your problem not mine. I have no love of Galactica remade by Moore and co. so no i won't put my news in fixing it cos unless i'm in contact with them and they respected the fans opinions then i have no business putting news in a place where most of the discussion wasn't where i placed it.
Quite frankly if we have less freedom then the system needs to be changed again. don't get me wrong, i'm still a good guy to get on with, but i don't B.S. you either and i do not agree with this constant moving of posts about.

Hi All!
Wow what can one say accept,... Salieri. I never thought music like that was possible.- Amadeus.
No really,...I can not believe the low concept, sterile, plastic look of the sets, props, and designs. I though they were suppose to be at war for many years? I thought they were suppose to make a BETTER looking BSG? All they achieved was a 2003 Anime wanna be look.
Talk about bringing tv sci fi back to its low budget (Oh the Fans will accept anything) roots.
Truly a sad day for all Sci fi, it's this kind of example of low quality, non Operatic sence that has kep't me from most of todays recent live action american sci fi. No high concept,no Wonder, no WOW, just the run-of-the-mill,do whats been done before, Bugetary concern/constraint approach.
God after all these years of WAITING,and this is the Crap they offer up to us? Junk, with sex, disfunctional characters, and a enemy plot device that can be traced to countless original and more gripping drama. They are making a "product",not art.
Don't need it,don't wan't it.
Pathetic!
Rich Kranz.

KJ,
We try to keep the forums organized by subject matter. All of the X2 threads are in the Cafe's Non Galactican Thread for instance. Keeps our current enthusiasm for Tom and X2 from overshadowing the real reason we are here--BSG and fighting or fixing the remake.
Think of the separate forums as a way to simplify our stance for newcomers. It's blatantly obvious where we stand and it helps the rest of us too if the G03 stuff is separate.

And please do not address my Lord, Jesus, like that. As one of his followers, I'd appreciate you not using his name in that manner. That's not a mandate, just a request for a personal favor not to stomp on the one who my beliefs rest in. That's not as a mod, that's just as me.

THAT's what bugged me about the viper: It's never seen a battle!!!! and this is realistic? I know the Cylons were absent for 40 years but that is more fresh from the factory than a patrol viper could possibly be.....

Again, I don't like the costumes and really don't like the script but the vipers are growing on me.
I can't help it.
Still not worth watching though.

Sandy I believe the picture is of a classic Starhound Viper. These can't be the newer Viper they talked about.

Baltar: Is this the little kid from "Who's the Boss?" He looks like an adult version of him.
Vipers: Kind of neat, but they're just way too white. They owe a lot to the originals, yet somehow they remind me more of that old white viper toy that used to shoot the red missle from the nose. I don't like the canopy which slides front to back now. The old top-closing viper cockpit was classic, just like the whining noise that went along with it. Even the gray color of the classic viper made it seem more real.
Viper Helmet: Bland. Too square and boring. Not as bad as that shiny 50's-era gold pilot costume, though.
These designs are extremely forgettable compared to the originals. In an attempt to go with "sleeker," they took away all the personality, just like today's modern cars all blend in to one another. All the sharp lines are eliminated and you can't tell one brand from the other. But you can instantly identify something fifteen or twenty years old. The viper's corners have been taken away, as have the helmet's. I'm sure the Cylon Centurions will have all their sharp edges removed too. I like sleek as much as the next guy, but overindulging in sleek can lead to slippery, as in slipping right out of your mind. These designs will be forgotten. The old designs will remain in peoples' minds.

What else would you expect from a guy who rewrote the hold saga minus the Mythology, Biblical references, Ancient Earth motifs etc. Ron "i'll change everyones sex gender, add hornier Cylons and do you want fries with that" Moore along with hammer and co did this to kill the franchise off.
I'd like to give hollywood execs some credit, but how can you when heartbreaking stuff like this gets out, fans all over the world must be going , Nooooooooooooo!
KJ
Bet we like DeSanto's BG Cylons designs from wayyyyy back alot more now, remember when fans said they were too bizarre? Not anymore their not.

What's so special about this?
:upchuck: :upchuck: :upchuck: :upchuck: :upchuck: :upchuck: :upchuck: :upchuck: :upchuck: :upchuck: :upchuck: :upchuck: :upchuck: :upchuck: :upchuck: :upchuck: So, finally, we see proof of the production. Good for Ronnie. Now, tell me what's so special about it? From what I can tell, everything we've feared is coming true. Tacky sex scenes (I missed her glowing spine), piss-poor costumes (and doesn't that one outfit look like the Starbuck uniform that was on eBay?), etc. In fact, the only thing that people seem to like is the Viper, AND THAT CAN BE CREDITED TO THE ORIGINAL SERIES! Despite it's minor changes, it looks like it could be an extention of the ones from 25 years ago. It's no wonder that's the only thing to get a positive response from anyone. The pilot helmets look (shall I say it?) ordinary. They look like they were taken from a box labeled "generic scifi props". And having the pilots' names and callsigns on the Vipers just screams "Top Gun". It just looks silly. Still, I will give Ronnie credit. To counter the photos of those butt-ugly costumes from last week, he had enough sense to release some photos of the Vipers to try and control the damage. Now, how about showing other things. You know, the GALACTICA and her "gift shop", the humanoid Cylons (i'm sure they'll go over well), the Raiders, Edward James Olmos' Adama, and all of the other "wonderful" things they have in store for us. Don't just hide behind a prop ripped-off from the great original show.
I don't know why, but I suddenly have the urge to watch "Top Gun"...
Dan

In the interest of 'fairness' (not like they give US any, but I'm a bigger person than the remake fans are...)
I like the viper - it does look sleek - maybe too sleek (where are the burn marks? The signs that it's been in battle? Man, you mean they can make brand new vipers at the drop of a hat? What do we have to worry about then?)
I like the new helmet but I like the old helmet better with it's Egyptian-feel too it. There was just nothing like those old helmets.
Oh, I figured out why the vipers have the pilots names on them. It's the only way anyone will be able to tell who is who! HAHA

Nope the Vipers are too white looking, although very interesting in design. What was Michael Faries BIG news of April going to be cause it's May now?
Didn't we all get the impression the rug was gonna be pulled out from Moore and Hammer's "Battlestar S&M Pornolactica" before the month of May came round? Doesn't look like it happened yet. or even will.
The remake makes me :upchuck: :upchuck: :upchuck:
And is very heart breaking
I'm very disappointed in the studios abiltiy to even listen to people let alone fans, if Ted Turner, Bill Gates or Rupert Murdock were network executives Battlestar Galactica would have come back years ago with bells on.
But alas no, we've got PTB exec who pee on us just to get a crusty crappy remake done to satisify the non-fans and Trekkers to make a few little buck on the side.
To use a sports quip "It's the bottom of the 9th" and the PTB make a foolish pass to number 7 Ron Moore, DeSanto was on the left and would have caught it, he goes pass Singer and Hatch, touches 3rd base and goes for fourth, Larson stands between him and the 4th base wait Hammer block Larson path letting Moore pass he goes onto 4th. Referee PTB calls it SAFE! Universal win.
Or do they? After all, we're the ones who keep saying we won't watch right?
KJ
Guess we do have the power, not to watch the new Battlestar Galactica, that is.

The new pics
I too have to admit to a moment of excitement when I saw the Vipers. Sadly that all went quickly away.
While close, the Vipers do not have anything near the personality or even detail of the original. The decals are all very earth standard with the "NO STEP" & "RESCUE" markings.
For a man with the arrogance of Ron Moore who claimed to be re-inventing science fiction, it all looks unimaginative and quickly compared to other shows... ironically the one show it's mostly not compared to is the original Galactica.
I would be willing to place money on whether those helmets are borrowed rather than designed for this production. If they are original designs then that is just sad.
Visually I think it lacks any real originallity or creativity.
And, I don't mean to pick on someone's appearance, but Katee Shackoff makes me ask, "This is the best person they could find?"
Huh... it seems the more I see of this production, the more I know I won't be watching.
Although I have to remember the level of intelligence this production is aimed toward... and let me alter my comments to fit that.
Here goes...
"I think Jamie Bamber looks dreamy in his uniform. And Katee makes me want to Shackoff."
"Number 6 is hot... I'll be lining up for sex with that Cylon."
There... I don't know if that was right, but I've been trying to learn from the fans of Moore over at the other site.
